The Cowboy Creation Cultist

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  A spell back, someone on Twitter was peddling a book about how he, a scientist, went from atheism to faith. I was intrigued and looked up some background on the author. It turns out that he is affiliated with the Untied (misspelling intentional) Methodist Church. I replied, "It is indeed unfortunate that you are telling your story of coming to faith, but are a leader in a church that doesn't believe the Bible." The UMC is notoriously liberal in theology. Modified from Pixabay /  Willgard Krause Seymour Garte got a mite riled over my blunt remark, and his reply consisted of several false statements.  He believes in the "grandeur" of Darwin's evolution and wrote a chapter on it (his book is praised by other TEs as well). Why do theistic evolutionist compromisers insist on millions of years of death and suffering, where their god is a cruel monster that uses such methods? Also, why did their god lie about creation in Genesis and all thro

Concerns of Creationists Misrepresenting Speedy Speleothems

Image
Some folks get riled up when biblical creationists discuss them speleothems. More specifically, secularists impugn the integrity and intelligence of creation scientists, and appeal to opinion sites that sound sciency. However, that knife cuts both ways. It is true that some creationists get a mite enthusiastic and use faulty pieces of evidence, and we try to encourage them to leave the doubtful stuff alone. Regarding stalactites, the situation is complex because there are various factors to consider regarding chemistry and growth rates. Salterforth Pub stalactites, Flickr / Andrew Batram ( CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 ) Uniformitarian geologists insist that stalactites and other speleothems take huge amounts of time to form. Creationists point out notable exceptions. In this post , I linked to an article about how stalactites under the Salterforth Pub formed rapidly. Secularists get on the prod when things like this are given as evidence that speleothems can form rapidly, so they raise hob with cr

Haleakalā National Park and the Young Earth

Image
The fiftieth state of those formerly United is Hawai'i, an archipelago in the Pacific ocean. The Big Island is the state's namesake, but it is less populous than the smaller islands like Oahu and Maui. We have another national park adventure, this time to Mele Kalikimaka — "No, Cowboy Bob, that is a Christmas song!" Oh, right. If you want to know why Merry Christmas is pronounced that way, see this video . Anyway. seeing my notes and the title, we are checking out  Haleakalā National Park over on Maui. Haleakalā Crater, FreeImages / Chris LaCroix We discussed volcanic eruptions in Iceland and the Philippines  a spell back, so this time we'll ignore the six active volcanoes in Hawai'i (four of which are on the Big Island) and consider Mt. Haleakalā. Nice and dormant, so rude surprises from it are unlikely. Like other national parks, the propaganda mill is promoting millions of years. How do they cognate to that? This child thinks secularists are willingly dece

Lunar Recession and the Young Earth

Image
Whenever the fact that the moon is receding from the earth is presented, one can hear raucous laughter from the Darwin Ranch* as far toward town as Stinking Lake. They bring out Lotta Lyez, the kitchen maid, to recite the rescuing devices. Ridicule is a standard operating procedure for misotheists, because (like dinosaur soft tissues) the implications are devastating for long ages. Papa Darwin needs lots of years his magick to perform. Using calculations of secularists against them, lunar recession is evidence for recent creation. Moon over Grand Canyon, Pexels / Eberhard Grossgasteiger At the current recession rate as an upper limit and calculating backward, the moon would have been  touching  our marble 1.5 billion Darwin years ago. That is not possible, obviously. The standard paradigm for secularists is slow and gradual processes, like we see in geology. From a creationist perspective, the moon has not moved away from Earth all that much. However, the small amount of recession is k

Those Iceland Volcano Eruptions

Image
Volcanoes bring to mind the big, conical mountains that explode, shooting boulders into the air and molten rocks flowing down the sides. In 70 AD, Mt. Vesuvius erupted so violently, inhabitants of Pompeii were buried in place by volcanic ash . There have been other dramatic eruptions throughout history. The Mt. St. Helens eruption of 1980 was actually small in comparison, and although it is likely to erupt again, that will be even smaller. Scientific advances give us some warning before an eruption. Fagradalsfjall volcano image credit: Wikimedia Commons / Mokslo Sriuba  ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) Kīlauea in Hawai'i is almost constantly erupting. Well, oozing lava. Iceland is a very active volcanic region, and the Fagradalsfjall got a bit of attention with its long-term eruption. It had been dormant for a long time, but earthquakes and such signaled that something was up. The danger was so intense, people could walk away — unless they hung around to roast marshmallows, cook bacon and so on

Climate Change and Evolution

Image
As it is with minerals-to-meteorologist evolution, so it is with global cooling. I mean, global warming. I mean, climate change. Evolutionists and climate alarmists have several things in common: Appeal to consensus Only their  interpretations of evidence permitted Contrary data is ignored or suppressed Driven by atheistic naturalism paradigms Fact-free assertions used to "prove" their assumptions Climate change alarmists such as Extinction Rebellion are using the complex scientific method of being jerks to force political action, such as disrupting Amazon on "Black Friday"  and gluing body parts to objects . Others are irrational as well. Great way to earn respect and a seat at the table with the grown-ups — especially when leftists write incoherent biased "news" to support them. Evolutionists saw fit to saddle up and ride with that gang. As we have seen, the secular science industry is taking up leftist interests , including abortion , demonizing Christ

Oceans Testify to the Young Earth

Image
Mayhaps other biblical creationists will disagree, but this child believes that evidence refuting dust-to-Darwin evolution and the young Earth are actively suppressed by the secular science industry. When creationists publish lists of evidence for recent creation, they trim them down to only the top five or ten because there are so many. The oceans of the world give strong testimony to recent creation. Even using their own slow and gradual rates of accumulation and so forth, it is not possible to honestly obtain data that fit a planet of 4.5 billion years. RGBStock / Roger Where is all the water from the Flood? It's already here! There was a great deal of tectonic activity during that time (continental plates moving rapidly, and volcanism going on as well), and sediments on the sea floors indicate those processes. If the earth was as old as uniformitarian scientists claim, they have a problem explaining the lack of sediments. Other attestations of the Flood include salinity and th

Io Still Shows Signs of Youth

Image
We have seen many instances of where the solar system is not acting its purported age of 4.6 billion years (e.g., " Our Solar System is Young " and " Saturn and Pluto Still Trouble Secularists "), and recent Venusian volcanism does not fit secular beliefs. Io is a moon of Jupiter, the fourth largest in the solar system (Ganymede is the winner), and is slightly bigger than our moon. It has volcanic activity, first observed by Voyager 1  in 1979 and given further examination with further space probes. Volcanic eruption on Io, NASA / JPL / DLR (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) When hotspots are mentioned, scientists are probably not referring to the nightlife (although I haven't been there recently). Some moons have volcanoes of various ices and gasses, but this is the real hot stuff. Since Io probably does not have tectonic activity like we do on Earth, much of the volcanism comes from tidal forces due to gravity and orbits. Planetologists trie

Speleothems and the Young Earth

Image
Have you ever been in a big, deep cave? I have vague memories of being in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, which was given its name because it is mammothly huge, not because of the extinct elephant-like thing. Another famous system is Carlsbad Caverns down New Mexico way. It gets mighty dark in deep caves, but light dispels darkness (John 1:5, 8:12). Good thing they provide lighting for tour groups, making it possible to see  speleothems . That expensive word includes the common stalactites and stalagmites. Doll's Theater at Carlsbad, National Park Service / Peter Jones (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Rain falls, goes through the soil, picks up carbon dioxide, then it becomes weak carbonic acid. This goes through the limestone, dissolving some calcium along the way. Upon reaching the cave, the carbon dioxide is free at last, and the calcium is deposited. This process is what causes stalactites (sticking tight and hanging down), stalagmites (the other ones), and some a

Water in the Far Reaches of the Universe

Image
Way, way out yonder, water was detected in a pair of galaxies known as SPT0311-58. The radiation from them was detected through the help of a massive object between them and us, which caused some gravitational lensing. Uncle Albert Einstein discussed how space is warped by gravity in a way similar to a bowling ball resting on a trampoline. Light from out there gets bent and distorted before it gets here, and that lensing effect made it possible to detect SPT0311-58 at the edge of the known universe. South Polar Telescope, National Science Foundation / Dr. Daniel Michalik Water has never before been detected so far away, but that should not be all that surprising because it is not in liquid form (that has only been found on Earth), and water in other forms is rather common out there. It's probably frustrating to secular scientists because this indicates problems for continually-Frankensteined Big Bang cosmogony. It also brings Genesis 1:6-8 to mind, which mentions the waters above t

Climate Change and Woolly Mammoths

Image
How long will it take before Facebook stops tagging posts that mention climate change with their links to alarmist propaganda? That question is of a rhetorical nature. Moving on... It seems to be increasingly common for the secular science industry to jump on trendy terms, possibly to make a pretense at relevance. They also have a nasty habit of conducting inefficient research and leaving out important details. Hence, we get evoporn capitalizing on climate change and the demise of woolly mammoths. Flickr / Rob Pongsajapan  ( CC BY 2.0 ), modified at PhotoFunia One pretentious professor claims that he has proof that the demise of woolly mammoths was not due to human hunting, but to climate change. Proof? Not hardly! He told a story and left out many significant details, including why these creatures that roamed a great deal didn't just move out of the chill. No, something drastic happened. Creationists can give far more rational explanations. One nice thing is that humans aren't

The Yellowstone Supervolcano and the Genesis Flood

Image
In these here formerly United States, we have us some mighty impressive national parks. Parts of  Yellowstone National Park  reach into three states, and it appeals to people for activities year round. It is famous for scenery, nature — and geology. Many people know of the Old Faithful geyser and others there, but it may not be as well known that geysers and thermal activity are because there is an extremely large supervolcano underneath a large portion of the park. It is dormant. Flickr /  AleGranholm  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Some folks get sensationalistic about volcanoes and supervolcanoes, but fears are exaggerated. The big one at Yellowstone is not even in the top twenty most dangerous in America . Geologists point out that dormant volcanoes can act up again, but if they do, they are not as likely to be as violent as they were in the past . Researchers find that hotspot activity at Yellowstone is on the down side . The facts support the cataclysmic Genesis Flood models by creation scientist

Dinosaur DNA and Evolutionary Big Lies

Image
As creationists have predicted, discoveries of dinosaur soft tissues and such have increased dramatically in recent years. The implications for the secular science industry are profound in several ways, especially regarding deep time; millions of years are vital for Darwin to work his magic. After all, time is the hero of evolutionary dogma. Dinosaurs supposedly took a dirt nap some sixty-something million years ago, but now these soft tissues and such are prompting secular scientists to reject scientific facts so they can push the evolutionary narrative. When the existence of dinosaur soft tissues was clearly established, evolutionists and deep-time proponents tried to deny their existence. They also tried to evosplain them away as well as denigrating other scientists. When DNA was discovered, Darwin's acolytes trembled in terror and argued about DNA's half life — it cannot  exist for nearly as long as they pretend in their cognitive dissonance. Worse for them, impressive sam

North Pole Dinosaurs and Creation Science

Image
Dinosaur fossils are being discovered in unexpected places, which is challenging to secular geologists and paleontologists. Some were discovered in Alaska, but they were not created to live up yonder; they were made for warmer areas. For several months of the year, that area is not only cold, but dark. Secular scientists have speculated that these dinosaurs migrated toward warmer regions, then back. However, recent evidence buries the speculation that they were migratory. Instead, they were homesteading year round. Wikimedia Commons /  Masato Hattori  ( CC BY 4.0 ) "Wait, polar regions were not for dinosaurs, Cowboy Bob?" Never have been. Not only did scientists discover fossils of adults, but also young'uns, hatchlings, and eggs. Creation scientists at ICR have a model that involves rapid burial and plate tectonics brought about by the Genesis Flood. These critters did not reside in the upper latitudes. The land itself moved there.  Eight species of dinosaurs were recent

Evidence for just one Glaciation in Alberta

Image
At first, the concept of the Ice Age was unthinkable, but scientists gradually accepted it because of the evidence. Then there were four. Uniformitarian scientists (who believe in slow and gradual processes over long periods of time) further expanded the number of ice ages. They got cozy with the astronomical (Milankovitch) theory. This has been useful for proposing not only multiple ice ages, but for proponents of climate change as well. However, the Milankovitch theory is based on fundamentally-flawed concepts and has been refuted by creation science . RGBStock / SP Veres Up yonder in Alberta, Canada, a geologist mixed up observation with interpretation, and "saw" evidence for multiple glaciations in till (glacial sediments that are unsorted). He apparently neglected other possible explanations of evidence. Several layers of till can be formed in other ways, and the whole thing is built on previous assumptions and the reinforcement syndrome. In Alberta and elsewhere, there

Young Ganymede has its Faults

Image
"Breaker breaker 1-9, izzat you, Ganymede?" "That's a big 10-4. You on my back door, Callisto?" "Yeppers! A few dozen of us moons have noticed you cracking wise." "I admit to having a few faults, good buddy." Okay, I was playing with citizen's band radio chatter stereotypes and the fact that in the American dating system, today is ten four. Roger that? Anyway, we have seen many times that the solar system does not act the age assigned to it by secular scientists. For example, Pluto and it's system are not what they expected. Also, the moons of outer planets show youthful activities , flustering believers in cosmic evolution. Now we will take a look at Ganymede. Ganymede as seen from the Juno spacecraft /  NASA / JPL-Caltech / SwRI / MSSS (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) This bad boy is the largest moon of Jupiter and is about the size of Mercury. Like other planets and moons, it defies cosmic evolution and testifi

Stony Meteorites Stymie Secularists

Image
Using uniformitarian  ideas  (slow processes over long periods of time), secular scientists have tremendous difficulties explaining the origin of stony meteorites (chondrites). Those other meteorites contain a great deal of metal, while chondrites are made of fine-grained chondrules.  Secularists claim they provide clues to the origin of the solar system, but that is just whistling in the dark. There are several stories told around the campfires at the Darwin Ranch about where the solar system came from, and Sherwood Tellit spins a find yarn about the accretion theory  and chondrites. Image Credit: NASA / Bill Ingalls (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Since none of the theories about the origin of the solar system are plausible, scientists pick the best of the worst — the " best in field fallacy ". Then they confirm their biases and interpreting data to make them fit. (Meteorites are considered remnants from the formation of the solar system and less contami

Sheep Mummy and Dinosaur DNA

Image
When science is done properly, it ruins atoms-to-archaeologist evolution. While too many people are gullible and simply accept what "scientists say", others are suspicious when research halts after propaganda points are reached or inconvenient questions are raised. A mummified sheep was in the news. (No, it was not mummified by ancient Egyptians, awakened, and Brendan Fraser stopped its rampage.) Natural mummification occurred where the right conditions cause drying out with little or no decomposition. A sheep mummy leg was so well preserved, its DNA was sequenced. FreeDigitalPhotos /  tawatchai (modified with Clker clipart) While decay can be slowed under ideal conditions, it cannot be stopped. This raises obvious questions about DNA in fossils buried in the ground under typical conditions. DNA deteriorates and would be too broken down to be analyzed. Once again, evidence indicates recent creation. DNA that is “extremely well preserved” has been analyzed from a sheep mumm

Crater of Diamonds and the Age of the Earth

Image
Down Arkansas way, they have an interesting state park called Crater of Diamonds . Folks might get a mental image of a hole full of sparkling diamonds, but the crater is volcanic, and people commence searching for raw, uncut diamonds. Some find them, too. Cut diamonds that go onto jewelry are mighty expensive, but you can buy a 15-carat raw diamond for about $400 USD in some places. The park has the usual old-Earth propaganda that satisfies the owners of the Darwin Ranch, but those are dead wrong. Digging at Crater of Diamonds State Park Image credit: Wikimedia Commons / Doug Wertman  ( CC BY 2.0 ) The Bearded Buddha needs deep time so he and his votaries can perform their magick, but the hands at the Darwin Ranch hate diamonds because they friendly to creation science . Not only does Crater of Diamonds State Park unwittingly have evidence that fits a Genesis Flood model, but diamonds themselves were tested and found to be a hostile witness to deep time. At Crater of Diamonds State Par

Original Lambeosaur Molecules Discovered

Image
When scientific evidence provides bad news for evolution, Katie, bar the door! Then commence to building rescuing devices, making excuses, and spinning the details. They are on edge because hydrogen-to-hadrosaur evolution has been getting the smackdown from scientific findings in recent years. As predicted by Dr. Mark H. Armitage , dinosaur soft tissues (devastating to deep-time beliefs) are increasingly common. Other advances in technology have provided some fascinating information, but is not friendly to Darwin. Teachers of evolution , as well as the secular science industry itself, require reassurance at all costs. Lambeosaurus  image credit: Flickr / Robin Zebrowski  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Lambeosaurus  is hung on the family tree of hadrosaurid (duck-billed) dinosaurs, proudly sporting hollow crests on their heads. Using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, researchers examined some Lambeosaur eggs and found amino acids. Those complex molecules are alleged to have lasted well beyond est
