Dinosaurs and Dragon Art

Image
When believers in universal common descent evolution are faced with facts contrary to deep time, they get mighty agitated, trying to find rescuing devices to keep the faith. When fossils containing soft tissues in dinosaurs and other critters were found, their excuses failed. Darwin requires millions of years to perform his magick, and secular scientist gladly manufacture ways to provide them. Dinosaurs allegedly became extinct about sixty-five million years ago, but dismissals of historical accounts and artwork are not acceptable to inquiring people. Shunosaurus, Wikimedia Commons / Smokeybjb (background colors added) ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) We have examined several instances of art from dates that are reasonably precise. They were referred to as dragons  back then. Misotheists wave them off with remarks like, "Can't happen. Because evolution. You're stupid, haw, haw, haw!" Some "scientific" explanations are...truly bizarre. What those people (as well as more int

Why Atheists Despise the Genesis Flood

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  When unbelievers assault the Bible, God, Jesus, miracles, and so forth, they make attacking the first eleven chapters of Genesis a priority. Something I learned long ago is that they are likely to receive more resistance when railing against the Resurrection and so forth, but Genesis is foundational to the gospel message. Since Christians ceded science to secularists, embracing deep time and evolution, atheists have Churchian allies in bushwhacking biblical creationists and Genesis — and undermining biblical foundations. It is interesting that people who claim to "lack belief" in God spend so much time being vindictive, abusive, and bigoted toward Christians. Their primary focus is the true God as explained in the Bible. Not Thor. Not the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. Not much time is spent on Islam, either. They hate God and suppress the truth (Romans 1:18-23). But why? I have a few reasons assembled from Scripture and my experiences. Pixabay /  Ria So

Rings of Saturn Stress Deep Time Proponents

Image
We have seen numerous times that celestial bodies have been recalcitrant to cosmic evolution and deep time beliefs. Stars, planets, all that good stuff may appear to be billions of years old, but people often get that idea because they accept the opinions of secular scientists. Space is a busy place, what with comets, asteroids, orbital motions, and unseen things such as gravity and radiation. These things affect each other as well as larger objects in the cosmos. No wonder the rings of Saturn cause consternation to naturalists. Artist's conception of Cassini and Saturn,   NASA / JPL  (useage does not imply endorsement of site contents) NASA sent Cassini up there to tool around for about thirteen years, and many interesting things were reported back about Saturn, its moons, radio emissions, rings, and more. Unfortunately for secularists, numerous things were found that refuted deep time and prompted a passel of rescuing devices. Thermal stress (such as on our moon) disrupts the ri

Secular Geologist Getting Closer to the Truth

Image
For many years, the secular science industry has relied on a uniformitarian (slow and gradual, the present is the key to the past) paradigm. After all, Darwin requires deep time so he can work his evolutionary miracles and secular geologists obediently provide it. In many cases, the narrative take priority over the evidence and proper scientific investigation. Fortunately for science, this is not always the case. Occasionally, scientists are willing to question the prevailing paradigm, which would be good for secular geology. Royal Gorge Bridge near Cañon City, US National Weather Service  (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Sometimes while doing research, scientists are prompted to think about how their existing framework needs serious retooling. One scientist found evidence of tremendous flooding in many areas. He suggested prolonged floods, but Royal Gorge and the Rocky Mountains do not cooperate with that. He had other ideas that didn't quite fit. He's getti

Obscuring the Origin of Continental Crusts

Image
Secular geologists have long struggled to fit the origin of Earth's continental crust into their uniformitarian paradigm. While scientists can see ocean ridges giving up oceanic crust at the seafloor, continents are composed of a different kind of crust. The hot filling for the crusts is actually the magma underneath.  Of course, these geologists get ideas and then they try to make them look plausible. They have assertions based on what their naturalistic narrative demands, but their views are seldom supported by evidence. My photo of a rock formation near Hurley, NY, modified at  PhotoFunia A study relied on the assumption that the crusts all popped up at once 2.5 billion years ago, but there is no evidence for this. Imagination, you betcha. Based on that forming-at-the-same-time assumption, only a comparatively small belt of rock was tested. It did not go well. The origin of the continental crust continues to baffle secular geologists who often refer to this mystery as the "

Flood Origins and Animals of Crater Lake

Image
Over on the left coast of the continental formerly United States is the state of Oregon. Inland from the coast is the Cascade Range. These mountains clip parts of two other states as well as British Columbia. Some of the volcanoes there are still active. Crater Lake National Park is in a collapsed volcano. Geologists from deep-time and young-earth perspectives agree on many details on the formation of volcanoes, and how this one at Crater Lake had an explosive past that led to its sleeping status. Crater Lake with Wizard Island, RGBStock / Jonathon Isaac The view may be hidden by clouds. Because of this and other possible difficulties , do a bit of research before venturing up there. If you go, say hello to the Old Man for me. Biblical creationists greatly differ with their secular counterparts on the formation of mountains, especially the timing. Models based on the Genesis Flood provide satisfactory explanations for these things. After the Flood, Crater Lake and the surrounding area

Evolutionists Congratulate Themselves over Weak Research

Image
A few days ago, I took the buckboard into town for supplies. There was a cacophony over at the saloon and I stopped to see what was happening. At first, I thought it was payday at the Darwin Ranch, but no. I flagged down Al Buehterawl, and when he caught his breath, he said the ranch hands got a bonus for conducting science research. It involved the alleged Chicxulub asteroid impact, dinosaur extinction, and microfossils. Also present was pride in storytelling. Asteroid And Earth image credit: FreeDigitalPhotos.net /  Idea go The well-heeled secular science industry keeps getting tax money and grants to find ways to proclaim the universe is billions of years old, evolution is true, and there is no reason to believe in the Creator. Once again, research seems woefully incomplete. But making their claims seem sciency and convincing to the public makes everything okay. Circular reasoning abounds, especially in assuming the timing of the asteroid impact. Biases were confirmed with selective

Hot Jupiter is Really Jumping

Image
For decades, governmental and private organizations have been studying space. Some of it was politically motivated at first, but these days, it is primarily in support of atheistic naturalism. Since there is no room for God in that worldview, they dreamed up their own creation mythologies. The current mythology, a highly-Frankensteined Big Bang, continually needs to be patched, repaired, and propped up. One result of the Big Bang is the formation of planets, weakly explained by the best-of-the-worst ( Best-in-Field Fallacy ) accretion theory. Most exoplanets are hostile witnesses. Artist's conception of a hot Jupiter,  NASA / ESA / G. Bacon (STScI) (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Technology has advanced greatly, so the detection of extra-solar planets has become rather commonplace. Even amateur astronomers are doing it. However, from cosmic to biological evolution and everything between, speculations are not supported by evidence. TOI-2109b is, like other hot

Giant Millipede Impedes Evolution

Image
If you head north in England, you will reach the ceremonial county of Northumberland. Find Howick and head for the North Sea. If you go for a stroll, be careful walking on boulders, and watch out for overhangs. Boulders fall. Also watch out for millipedes as big as cars. As big as cars? By length, mayhaps, but not by weight or width. And not living. An incomplete fossil was discovered in one of the aforementioned boulders that fell and broke open. Arthropleura , extinct millipede, model. Maker: Peter Roberts, Photographer: Benjamin Healley Source: Museums Victoria ( CC BY 4.0 ) Secular paleontologists commenced to using circular reasoning about the age and former environment. They also used guesswork on their deep time and evolutionary presuppositions, but there's no sign of an evolutionary progression from smaller critters. Their speculations raised other questions that went unanswered. What was found is best explained by recent creation, then rapid burial during the Genesis Floo

Darwinism, the Little Ice Age, and Consensus Science

Image
One area where scientific consensus is lacking is the date range of the Little Ice Age  (LIA), some believing it began in the 1300s and ending around 1850. It was not just one long cold period with major glaciation, but several decreases in temperature. The LIA was in North Atlantic regions, and it was devastating for people living in affected regions. Researchers recently determined the cause of the LIA, and it was not only surprising, but seem contradictory. It appears that the LIA was caused by complicated processes including a warm period. The Frozen Thames , Abraham Hondius, 1677 / Wikimedia Commons As it is with universal common descent evolution, scientists make global climate change analyses and predictions based on insufficient information. In fact, evolutionists and climate alarmists often suppress scientific evidence that is contrary to their narrative. The word  hubris  comes to mind. As I keep insisting, the true spirit of scientific investigation involves analyzing all re

Rescuing the Snowball Earth Scenario

Image
In their efforts to deny the literal history recorded in Genesis, secular scientists have caused themselves a great deal of scientific and intellectual trouble. Some jasper will dream up a scenario that seems plausible at first glance, then the facts contradict it. For example, the Ice Age. Louis Agassiz was not the first to propose an ice age, but he was persistent. It was doubted at first, but when secular geologists realized that it would help them distance themselves from geology caused by the Genesis Flood, they saddled up. Snowball Earth image: Flickr / guano  ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) In fact, they wanted more ice ages. However, there was this small problem of evidence — t'weren't none. At least, not for the number they wanted spread out over five major periods. The Snowball Earth concept has most of the planet covered in ice, but has problems they just can't skate around. One of these is the " Faint Young Sun Paradox ", where the sun is too cool to provide enough w

The Cowboy Creation Cultist

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  A spell back, someone on Twitter was peddling a book about how he, a scientist, went from atheism to faith. I was intrigued and looked up some background on the author. It turns out that he is affiliated with the Untied (misspelling intentional) Methodist Church. I replied, "It is indeed unfortunate that you are telling your story of coming to faith, but are a leader in a church that doesn't believe the Bible." The UMC is notoriously liberal in theology. Modified from Pixabay /  Willgard Krause Seymour Garte got a mite riled over my blunt remark, and his reply consisted of several false statements.  He believes in the "grandeur" of Darwin's evolution and wrote a chapter on it (his book is praised by other TEs as well). Why do theistic evolutionist compromisers insist on millions of years of death and suffering, where their god is a cruel monster that uses such methods? Also, why did their god lie about creation in Genesis and all thro

Concerns of Creationists Misrepresenting Speedy Speleothems

Image
Some folks get riled up when biblical creationists discuss them speleothems. More specifically, secularists impugn the integrity and intelligence of creation scientists, and appeal to opinion sites that sound sciency. However, that knife cuts both ways. It is true that some creationists get a mite enthusiastic and use faulty pieces of evidence, and we try to encourage them to leave the doubtful stuff alone. Regarding stalactites, the situation is complex because there are various factors to consider regarding chemistry and growth rates. Salterforth Pub stalactites, Flickr / Andrew Batram ( CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 ) Uniformitarian geologists insist that stalactites and other speleothems take huge amounts of time to form. Creationists point out notable exceptions. In this post , I linked to an article about how stalactites under the Salterforth Pub formed rapidly. Secularists get on the prod when things like this are given as evidence that speleothems can form rapidly, so they raise hob with cr

Haleakalā National Park and the Young Earth

Image
The fiftieth state of those formerly United is Hawai'i, an archipelago in the Pacific ocean. The Big Island is the state's namesake, but it is less populous than the smaller islands like Oahu and Maui. We have another national park adventure, this time to Mele Kalikimaka — "No, Cowboy Bob, that is a Christmas song!" Oh, right. If you want to know why Merry Christmas is pronounced that way, see this video . Anyway. seeing my notes and the title, we are checking out  Haleakalā National Park over on Maui. Haleakalā Crater, FreeImages / Chris LaCroix We discussed volcanic eruptions in Iceland and the Philippines  a spell back, so this time we'll ignore the six active volcanoes in Hawai'i (four of which are on the Big Island) and consider Mt. Haleakalā. Nice and dormant, so rude surprises from it are unlikely. Like other national parks, the propaganda mill is promoting millions of years. How do they cognate to that? This child thinks secularists are willingly dece

Lunar Recession and the Young Earth

Image
Whenever the fact that the moon is receding from the earth is presented, one can hear raucous laughter from the Darwin Ranch* as far toward town as Stinking Lake. They bring out Lotta Lyez, the kitchen maid, to recite the rescuing devices. Ridicule is a standard operating procedure for misotheists, because (like dinosaur soft tissues) the implications are devastating for long ages. Papa Darwin needs lots of years his magick to perform. Using calculations of secularists against them, lunar recession is evidence for recent creation. Moon over Grand Canyon, Pexels / Eberhard Grossgasteiger At the current recession rate as an upper limit and calculating backward, the moon would have been  touching  our marble 1.5 billion Darwin years ago. That is not possible, obviously. The standard paradigm for secularists is slow and gradual processes, like we see in geology. From a creationist perspective, the moon has not moved away from Earth all that much. However, the small amount of recession is k

Those Iceland Volcano Eruptions

Image
Volcanoes bring to mind the big, conical mountains that explode, shooting boulders into the air and molten rocks flowing down the sides. In 70 AD, Mt. Vesuvius erupted so violently, inhabitants of Pompeii were buried in place by volcanic ash . There have been other dramatic eruptions throughout history. The Mt. St. Helens eruption of 1980 was actually small in comparison, and although it is likely to erupt again, that will be even smaller. Scientific advances give us some warning before an eruption. Fagradalsfjall volcano image credit: Wikimedia Commons / Mokslo Sriuba  ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) Kīlauea in Hawai'i is almost constantly erupting. Well, oozing lava. Iceland is a very active volcanic region, and the Fagradalsfjall got a bit of attention with its long-term eruption. It had been dormant for a long time, but earthquakes and such signaled that something was up. The danger was so intense, people could walk away — unless they hung around to roast marshmallows, cook bacon and so on

Climate Change and Evolution

Image
As it is with minerals-to-meteorologist evolution, so it is with global cooling. I mean, global warming. I mean, climate change. Evolutionists and climate alarmists have several things in common: Appeal to consensus Only their  interpretations of evidence permitted Contrary data is ignored or suppressed Driven by atheistic naturalism paradigms Fact-free assertions used to "prove" their assumptions Climate change alarmists such as Extinction Rebellion are using the complex scientific method of being jerks to force political action, such as disrupting Amazon on "Black Friday"  and gluing body parts to objects . Others are irrational as well. Great way to earn respect and a seat at the table with the grown-ups — especially when leftists write incoherent biased "news" to support them. Evolutionists saw fit to saddle up and ride with that gang. As we have seen, the secular science industry is taking up leftist interests , including abortion , demonizing Christ

Oceans Testify to the Young Earth

Image
Mayhaps other biblical creationists will disagree, but this child believes that evidence refuting dust-to-Darwin evolution and the young Earth are actively suppressed by the secular science industry. When creationists publish lists of evidence for recent creation, they trim them down to only the top five or ten because there are so many. The oceans of the world give strong testimony to recent creation. Even using their own slow and gradual rates of accumulation and so forth, it is not possible to honestly obtain data that fit a planet of 4.5 billion years. RGBStock / Roger Where is all the water from the Flood? It's already here! There was a great deal of tectonic activity during that time (continental plates moving rapidly, and volcanism going on as well), and sediments on the sea floors indicate those processes. If the earth was as old as uniformitarian scientists claim, they have a problem explaining the lack of sediments. Other attestations of the Flood include salinity and th

Io Still Shows Signs of Youth

Image
We have seen many instances of where the solar system is not acting its purported age of 4.6 billion years (e.g., " Our Solar System is Young " and " Saturn and Pluto Still Trouble Secularists "), and recent Venusian volcanism does not fit secular beliefs. Io is a moon of Jupiter, the fourth largest in the solar system (Ganymede is the winner), and is slightly bigger than our moon. It has volcanic activity, first observed by Voyager 1  in 1979 and given further examination with further space probes. Volcanic eruption on Io, NASA / JPL / DLR (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) When hotspots are mentioned, scientists are probably not referring to the nightlife (although I haven't been there recently). Some moons have volcanoes of various ices and gasses, but this is the real hot stuff. Since Io probably does not have tectonic activity like we do on Earth, much of the volcanism comes from tidal forces due to gravity and orbits. Planetologists trie

Speleothems and the Young Earth

Image
Have you ever been in a big, deep cave? I have vague memories of being in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, which was given its name because it is mammothly huge, not because of the extinct elephant-like thing. Another famous system is Carlsbad Caverns down New Mexico way. It gets mighty dark in deep caves, but light dispels darkness (John 1:5, 8:12). Good thing they provide lighting for tour groups, making it possible to see  speleothems . That expensive word includes the common stalactites and stalagmites. Doll's Theater at Carlsbad, National Park Service / Peter Jones (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Rain falls, goes through the soil, picks up carbon dioxide, then it becomes weak carbonic acid. This goes through the limestone, dissolving some calcium along the way. Upon reaching the cave, the carbon dioxide is free at last, and the calcium is deposited. This process is what causes stalactites (sticking tight and hanging down), stalagmites (the other ones), and some a
