Further Protection from our Deflector Shields

Image
If you did not read the news, space is a dangerous place. Aside from the lack of air, it is full of large and small objects zipping around (sometimes falling to Earth and scaring the horses). This includes high levels of radiation from our friend the sun. That friend would fry us deader than a — never mind. But the Master Engineer who gave us our usually well-mannered sun also gave us protection from it. Twin Van Allen Probes image credit: NASA (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) There have been a couple of posts here about the Van Allen belts, our planet-sized deflector shields that protect us from the solar output and the sun's occasional sneezes . The solar wind is pretty much constant, and Earth plows through it like a boat through water. This bow shock  does some interesting things to the electrons that should join in with the other solar stuff to destroy us. Instead, friction from those bad boy belts shred the solar wind. Some owlhoots will have us bel

Blood Types and Human Origins

Image
When studying human origins, many of us are used to seeing material from scientific disciplines like geology, paleontology, biology, and some from history and archaeology. Studying the ABO blood group has several things happening at once, such as genetics, biology, and history. The results are not good for Darwinian beliefs. Credit: National Institute of Health (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Like so many other things, your blood type is determined genetically. Alleles for your blood type come from your parents. From a creationary perspective, the question arises as to how blood types can be traced back to Adam, or at least, to Noah and his descendants. The allele frequency for type O does not fit with the evolutionary time frame, and creationists want an even shorter time frame. Possible mechanisms are discussed, as are two scenarios that are consistent with biblical models. We are also shown the complexity of our Creator's work. Many people know what

The Wonder of Wasps

Image
That seems like a silly title. People do not like wasps. At an outdoor event at a picnic, you have to be careful that you do not get one of the critters in your mouth when you sip your soft drink, and they come around when you are trying to just do things. They sting, it hurts, and many can come back and sting again (although it's the females that sting, the males just pretend). Helpful hint: don't be standing behind a horse when it gets stung on the rump. We don't want them around, and we don't want to make them angry so they go on the attack. Surprisingly, they do fulfill several purposes that their Creator intended. Can English-speaking people say "wasps' nests" comfortably? Not me. I slur it into "wassness". Artificial Psychotic Intelligence

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen A spell back, I was motivated to write about artificial intelligence and how it cannot compete with the Creator-designed abilities of human children . Another inspiration was given to me for the subject of evolving morality and AI , where some concept of morality must be programmed into a system based on the biases of the programmer. I reckon this is the third in the series. Most of these AI people would conceivably omit Christian ethics and biblical creation science, and probably include leftist opinions. They are likely to include atheistic materialist philosophies. The rest of us have to live with the choices of AI designers. Unfortunately, some foolishly believe that Darwinian processes are related to code, see " Evolution and Software – A Fundamental Misunderstanding – or an Outright Fraud? " Credit: Pixabay / Lukas Computers, robots, AI, whatever — they can only do so much, and their actions are based on how they are programmed. Fears of

Environments and Adaptation

Image
Several posts here have examined engineered adaptability, that organisms adapt because of internal  mechanisms, and contrasting it with how proponents of fish-to-fortune teller evolution maintain that external "pressures" cause changes leading to evolution. (For the latest post on this, see " Targeted Changes and Engineered Adaptability ".) Evolutionists are increasingly using the fallacy of reification , giving evolution a personality that makes choices, and smacks of esoteric mysticism . Ochre sea star image credit: US National Park Service / Joseph Kinyon (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents.) Question the evolutionists: How do you know? How does it work? Do you have any evidence? Can you set aside your tautology, circular reasoning, and confirmation bias? They not only stack the deck, but mark the cards and deal from the bottom of the deck. No wonder they get predetermined "answers" in from their choplogic and tainted research.

Finding Eden

Image
People have been attempting to find, or at least determine, the location of Eden. They want to saddle up and ride over to the Garden of Eden, but they are going to have a long trip for many reasons. For one thing, the garden was in  Eden (Gen. 2:8), and Eden itself was a special place on Earth. The Garden of Eden , Thomas Cole, 1828 You may be asking yourself why it would be so difficult to find Eden, since there are significant clues in Genesis. Notice that the description in Gen. 2:10-14 names the rivers in the present tense? Many creationists believe that several people wrote Genesis , and those were preserved by God until the Holy Spirit guided Moses to compile them. The usual explanation offered by biblical creationists regarding the impossibility of finding Eden is that the global Genesis Flood was catastrophic, and nothing would remain. Some people who are ignorant of the effects of the Flood use the names in Genesis as markers, but descendants of Noah would have likely n

Waterwheel Plant Traps Evolutionists

Image
Shut your trap. No, not you. There are two carnivorous plants with snap traps, one of which is the more famous Venus fly trap , which snaps on insects and so forth for supper. Some people have them, but they are endangered, so you can get in a heap of trouble if you dig one up yourself. However, you can get one from a licensed dealer and make it a kind of pet if you give it the proper care . Credit: US Geological Survey (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) There's another trap shutter called the waterwheel plant. This bad little boy is endangered, has no roots, and floats along. When a small critter triggers its mechanism, the hinge snaps shut in as little as a hundredth of a second. Biomimetics research is being conducted for shading systems in architecture. A couple of papers were submitted in the same month about the waterwheel plant. One discussed the biomimetics application, and details on the plant's operation. The other paper had a little inform
