Darwinism, the Little Ice Age, and Consensus Science

Image
One area where scientific consensus is lacking is the date range of the Little Ice Age  (LIA), some believing it began in the 1300s and ending around 1850. It was not just one long cold period with major glaciation, but several decreases in temperature. The LIA was in North Atlantic regions, and it was devastating for people living in affected regions. Researchers recently determined the cause of the LIA, and it was not only surprising, but seem contradictory. It appears that the LIA was caused by complicated processes including a warm period. The Frozen Thames , Abraham Hondius, 1677 / Wikimedia Commons As it is with universal common descent evolution, scientists make global climate change analyses and predictions based on insufficient information. In fact, evolutionists and climate alarmists often suppress scientific evidence that is contrary to their narrative. The word  hubris  comes to mind. As I keep insisting, the true spirit of scientific investigation involves analyzing all re

Pterosaur Flight Engineering Revealed

Image
You have probably seen those crime scene shows where the investigators search for stains from blood or other things, and it glows under alternative lighting even though it was invisible under normal conditions. Although such things are exaggerated for the sake of the story, there is also truth to them. In a similar forensic manner (after all, origins science is historical and forensic in nature), researchers examined pterosaur fossil that was probably considered old news and had nothing left to tell. New methods gave insight into its flying ability. Pteranodon from Pixabay / Damian Trochanowski , modified at PhotoFunia , then cropped Darwin's disciples have puzzled until their puzzlers were sore about powered flight in pterosaurs, coming up with schemes that are non-science . Instead of bowing to the Bearded Buddha and mindlessly chanting, " It evolved !", they should consider the fact that the Master Engineer designed living things. This is obvious in the revisited foss

Still No Answer to Primordial Lithium Problem

Image
Because secular scientists have materialistic presuppositions, they are compelled to deny special creation using the complex scientific principle of Making Things Up™. The Big Bang is the atheistic myth of cosmic evolution, and then other evolution stories are hitched to that one. The first three elements of the periodic table, hydrogen, helium, and lithium, supposedly fit Big Bang model predictions. The first two are the most common elements in the universe, so that seems like confirmation bias. Lithium is not cooperating at all. Modified from an image by  NASA  / JPL (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) We need to ride off on a side trail for a moment. A couple of basic science definitions are in order, since people who do not use them frequently get a mite confused. You have a poster of the periodic table of the elements on the wall of your living room, right? Sure, everyone does (mine is out to be resurfaced). It lists atomic numbers, how many protons, neutrons, and

Rescuing the Snowball Earth Scenario

Image
In their efforts to deny the literal history recorded in Genesis, secular scientists have caused themselves a great deal of scientific and intellectual trouble. Some jasper will dream up a scenario that seems plausible at first glance, then the facts contradict it. For example, the Ice Age. Louis Agassiz was not the first to propose an ice age, but he was persistent. It was doubted at first, but when secular geologists realized that it would help them distance themselves from geology caused by the Genesis Flood, they saddled up. Snowball Earth image: Flickr / guano  ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) In fact, they wanted more ice ages. However, there was this small problem of evidence — t'weren't none. At least, not for the number they wanted spread out over five major periods. The Snowball Earth concept has most of the planet covered in ice, but has problems they just can't skate around. One of these is the " Faint Young Sun Paradox ", where the sun is too cool to provide enough w

Engineered Biology Based on the Bible

First post of the year, and my unregistered assault keyboard is locked, loaded, and upgraded. When doing science, it is important to make sure that one is operating within the framework. This includes presuppositions. As stated before, everyone has a worldview , and that includes things we presuppose to be true without empirical verification. Secular scientists presuppose universal common descent with modifications evolution, biblical creation scientists presuppose that the Bible is true. There are times when those assumptions need to be checked. Galaxy UGC 2885 credits: NASA / ESA / B. Holwerda (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) We have seen numerous times that a naturalistic worldview doesn't marry up with observed evidence, so timelines are modified, data is tweaked, and a prairie schooner-full of problems beset secularists. Instead of playing around protecting the naturalism narrative, secular scientists with integrity should be questioning their presupposition

The Cowboy Creation Cultist

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  A spell back, someone on Twitter was peddling a book about how he, a scientist, went from atheism to faith. I was intrigued and looked up some background on the author. It turns out that he is affiliated with the Untied (misspelling intentional) Methodist Church. I replied, "It is indeed unfortunate that you are telling your story of coming to faith, but are a leader in a church that doesn't believe the Bible." The UMC is notoriously liberal in theology. Modified from Pixabay /  Willgard Krause Seymour Garte got a mite riled over my blunt remark, and his reply consisted of several false statements.  He believes in the "grandeur" of Darwin's evolution and wrote a chapter on it (his book is praised by other TEs as well). Why do theistic evolutionist compromisers insist on millions of years of death and suffering, where their god is a cruel monster that uses such methods? Also, why did their god lie about creation in Genesis and all thro

Powerful Design of the Peculiar Puffin

Image
If someone describes a black and white bird that spends a lot of time in cold ocean waters, it is easy to assume that the penguin is being described. Not necessarily. Get a few more details, old son, and also know that not all penguins are entirely black and white. This is about a northern Atlantic seabird. While penguins range in size from six feet to thirteen inches, puffins are about thirteen inches (33 cm). Both spend time in the sea, but puffins are on the water more than in it.  RGBStock / Kevin Tuck Cute things, kind of clownish looking (sorta like Puddles Pity Party around the eyes). The strategic placement of the black and white demonstrates design, and that beak is used in mating and greeting. Like other seabirds (plus some reptiles and a few fish), they can drink salt water and then throw it off through a salt gland. Puffins are surprisingly intelligent, too. Swans are often associated with elegance, eagles with majesty, and owls with wisdom, but not every bird seems quit
