Copycat: Genesis and the Ark of the Covenant

Image
Interesting how scoffers reject archaeology when it supports the Bible, but when tendentious evidence is twisted against  the Bible, then yee haw boy howdy, the Bible is wrong. There are claims that the Bible copies other religions, such as the ludicrous "Jesus Myth", and stories that Christianity was a reworking of pagan mystery religions . Charges of copying are made against the Creation and the Genesis Flood, and some even think the Ark of the Covenant is a copy of something Egyptian. It is not difficult to refute these. Library of Ashurbanipal /  The Flood Tablet  / The Gilgamesh Tablet / Wikimedia Commons /Fæ ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Creationists say that there was a global Flood, and after the dispersion at Babel , people took the account with them around the world. Naturally, there are corruptions over the years, but many (including the indigenous people of the Western Hemisphere ) have core elements in agreement with the Genesis narrative. One of the most popular "copied

Piranhas, Pacus, and Creation

Image
In several adventure movies, piranhas are given startling dramatic parts where they make the water boil and people or animals scream while being consumed. The villain of  You Only Live Twice  used some for executions. Can that be real? The famous narrative by President Theodore Roosevelt where they ate a cow was actually a set-up . In normal conditions in the wild, such things are highly unlikely. But they do have those big, nasty, pointy teeth. Creationists must explain the existence of such thing from the original very good creation. Freeimages / gregi It is interesting that since piranhas and their cousins the pacus look so much alike, scientists disagree on their species. Some pacu species are more like some piranha species than other pacu species. Piranhas are primarily  but not exclusively carnivorous with those bear trap-like teeth, and pacus have been known to indulge in carnivory when the need arises. It seems that pacus have double rows of teeth while piranhas only have one,

Climbing Volcanoes for Darwin

Image
Have you ever climbed Ojos del Salado in South America, the highest volcano in the world? Sure, everyone does that. This mountain is high and dry. That is, so arid that glaciers are unable to form. Cold enough for ice fields, yes, but not glaciers. Some of Darwin's acolytes got a notion to climb up there. It seems that a film crew could have made an interesting documentary about their climb in those harsh conditions, but these researchers were attempting do do sciency stuff. Unfortunately, they had faulty reasoning. Ojos del Salada, Flickr / serjejf  ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) One of the errors in logic involved was that since some life forms thrive in extreme conditions, mayhaps a study of microbiology in that environment may help scientists find such life forms on Mars or Jupiter's moon Europa. That's a pretty extreme presupposition, and arrogant to reject the Creator. Even though their purpose will be futile, secular scientists are working for creationists in a way , and their re

Inconsistent Sadness over Dinosaur Ailment

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen This post will have a rather substantial interruption, since one thing led to another in my research. While going down rabbit holes can be fun, it can be a huge distraction for this child (and many other folks). The topic is how secular scientists were sad about a disease found in a fossilized dinosaur. I searched for news of a fossil where a hadrosaur was injured by a T. rex before it took a dirt nap. Stay with me while I discuss a snarky anti-creationist, okay? Sauropod, Flikr / tadekk  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Plaintive Paleontologists There are advertisements designed to tug at viewers' heart strings by showing suffering animals, you can help by giving them money (use caution and check them out first ). Sure, those are living things, and decent people don't want to see them suffer. But why would researchers grab tissues over a sauropod fossil? It is demised. It is no more. It is an ex-sauropod. The sauropod showed signs of having a painful disease, and they spe

Biblical Archaeology: Balaam and Jericho

Image
As discussed several times before, studying cultures through archaeology can be challenging, frustrating, and rewarding. Obviously, more recent artefacts are less difficult to study than items that are thousands of years old. The Bible is a reliable book of history. That puts burrs under the saddles of scoffers, and they often argue from silence using what has not yet been found in archaeology, attempting to confirm their biases. Archaeology supports the Bible, as we shall see again in these two examples of well-known biblical events. Balaam and the Angel , Gustav Jaeger Bileam Engel, 1836 via Wikimedia Commons Clearly, the best finds are those that have corroborating evidence such as coins, official seals, documents, and more. Items that make reference to prior events or people from earlier times are also helpful. Remember reading about how Balaam the mystic had his donkey speak to him? (Note that it happened as an obvious miracle one time , giving lie to the claim of atheopaths th

The Foolishness of Rail Bird Evolution Claims

Image
Edited 6 May 2022. Rails (or Rallidae) are a large group of birds found in many areas of the world. Many like marshy areas and forests, and several species are found on islands. It seems like with a name like rail , they would be fond of trains, but it comes from rasle , an Old French word. The Virginia Rail   is found in various places in North America. This, like several other rails, can fly. What gets the attention of the Darwin Death Cult™ is that many island species have lost that ability. Therefore, evolution. Not hardly! Cropped from Wikimedia Commons /  Francesco Veronesi  ( CC by-SA 2.0 ) It is both amusing and confusing that evolutionists consider the loss of a trait evidence for their beliefs.  No new genetic information is added , either. Evolution is supposed to be onward and upward, but it is so malleable to explain everything ( thereby explaining nothing ), even loss affirms evolution.  The Bearded Buddha hijacked natural selection, originally a concept developed by a cr

Wolf-to-Dog Evolution Story Barking up the Wrong Tree

Image
Edited 6 May 2022.  Biblical creationists and believers in universal common ancestor evolution agree for the most part that modern dogs descended from an animal like a wolf. Those dog breeds we see are the result of artificial selection , designed for certain traits. They are still dogs and have the chemistry to interbreed. For that matter, coyotes are extremely wolf-like, and have no difficulty breeding with the dogs with which we are familiar. See " Coyotes Have Gone to the Dogs ." Unsplash / Andrew Ly (left) and Kanashi (right) Evolutionists disagree on definitions of species , and have an evoporn story that is presented as science. It's about humans and the domestication of dogs, but has no evidence to support it. Basically, as humans were still evolving, wolves began evolving social interactions with humans around campfires. Then they eventually lived together, and that's the origin of pet dogs. The story fits the evolution narrative and makes believers feel go

Venus and Mars are not Right for Life

Image
Although none of the hypotheses trotted out to explain the origin of the solar system are successful, the flawed  nebular hypothesis  (accretion) is the best of the worst , so that is what secular cosmologists use. It also brings additional problems and raises numerous questions. That big swirl supposedly formed the sun and all the planets. Although Venus, Earth, and Mars have superficial similarities, there are several important differences. Venus has an extremely slow rotation, and runs the opposite of the other planets, for one. Includes images from NASA, especially  STS-116  (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) It would seem that Mercury, that rock closest to the sun, would be the hottest planet. Venus is far hotter because of trapped heat from greenhouse gasses. Secularists want to know why, but thwart themselves from getting real answers by presupposing a faulty origin of the universe — also, by fanatically believing in and assuming evolution. Hope for finding life

Sturgeons Make Monkeys out of Evolutionists

Image
Like many fish, Atlantic sturgeons live most of their lives in the ocean, but go up rivers to spawn. Those accessing rivers from the Chesapeake Bay can choose from several. Some scientists were being unscientific, saying that these sturgeons spawn in the spring because that was the consensus. Although sturgeons are endangered, a boatload of them spawn in the fall , not the spring. In fact, old records indicated fall spawning times as well. How could they miss seeing such large fish? Sturgeons have been mistaken for lake and sea monsters! NOAA Fisheries (click the link for some interesting facts, including size and weight) Too bad there wasn't a Chinook Haddock Sturgeon to preach them a sermon and get their attention. Even so, secularists probably wouldn't have noticed because they were locked into oversimplifying and rejecting previous records. In fact, these fish may have spawned both  in spring and fall. Sturgeons are considered living fossils, because the fossils of sturge

Incomplete Science and Climate Change Policies

Image
It must be rough being a scientist who is trying to investigate, explore, calculate, and generally do science stuff, but the secular science industry has leftist and materialistic agendas. (I know myself the feeling of working for dishonest companies while trying to make a living, but it must be worse for a genuine scientist.) Especially when having questions and scientific material ignored or even suppressed. Not only is this rampant in origins research, but leftists manipulate global warming with fear and disingenuous science. Made from images at Clker and Open Clipart One blatant example of sycophants in the secular science industry is how a  vampire squid fossil was named after Joe Biden . This was done not because of paleontology, but because they approve of his "green" agenda. That stuff is  very socialist . People can be intimidated with the appeal to authority of, "Scientists say..." Political leftists and the secular science industry use that, coupled with
