Although it raises hackles on secularists, geology is a historical science. Scientists use what is observed in the present to try and determine what went on in the past. Ken Ham and other biblical creationists have famously pointed out that if there was a global Genesis Flood, there would be obvious evidence. This evidence include trillions of fossils buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth, geological strata, and more. Out Colorado way, if you mount up and ride west of Denver and a bit north of Morrison, you can find Dinosaur Ridge. It is understandable for people to confuse sap with amber, as both are sticky and flow in trees. Sap is much thinner and transports nutrients within trees, while amber is found in cedar, pine, and other trees. It is much thicker and protects them from pests and damage. Out Colorado way,  Gunnison National Forest takes up parts of five counties. It is bordered by other national forests. Quaking aspens (the leaves tremble in the breeze) are widely distributed across North America, and may be mistaken for birch trees due to their white bark and size. Standard models for coal formation have numerous problems, including the curiosity that it is less than one percent of all sedimentary rocks, but there is so much that it is the source of most of the world's electricity. Coal is supposedly formed through the compression of peat. Numerous conditions would have to be just right for peat to form coal. It seems that many people do not know the difference between concrete and cement, so here is the hard truth. There are several stages involved in making concrete , the porous stuff that people drive on or live in. It begins with limestone, which is thought to take millions of years to form.
