The Three Sisters and Refuting Atheist Refutations

Image
It is interesting to see articles and videos about various geological features, many of which are found in the formerly United States. Down 'Straya way, there are also some impressive formations. Consider the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. This popular tourist attraction presents strong evidence for the Genesis Flood , and Dr. Tasman Walker of Creation Ministries International wrote an article about it. This raised the ire of some Australian skeptics, and one wrote an article to refute him. It did not go well, Three Sisters, Wikimedia Commons / Diliff ( CC BY-SA 2.5 ) For some time, I have held the opinion that a skeptic is someone who is not convinced of something, but is willing to change his mind when persuasive evidence is presented. It seems that a skeptic today is someone who refuses to be convinced of something despite the evidence. Someone pointed out that these unyielding skeptics would more correctly be called cynics . These skeptics (atheists) d...

The Giza Underground City Conspiracy

Image
It seems that when one conspiracy theory runs out of steam, another takes its place. The "conspiracy" part often means that the item in question is doubted by many, so there is a conspiracy to suppress it. Theory? Codswallop! The Pyramids of Giza have fascinated people for thousands of years. Pyramids are occasionally given mystical significance. In the 1970s, there was a belief that items in pyramid shapes produced a field that could keep blades sharp, preserve food, and more. Now it is said that there is a city hidden under Giza. Khafre's Pyramid Complex, Flickr / Institute for the Study of the Ancient World ( CC BY 2.0 ) Researchers claim that satellite technologies made it possible for them to find images of structures beneath the Pyramids. Other scientists are skeptical, and they have valid reasons. One is that the results cannot be replicated. Also, instead of going through the usual processes to announce discoveries, these researchers had a press conference on You...

Theistic Evolutionists Misrepresenting Young-Earth Geology

Image
Something atheists and other evolutionists like to do is use religious people in their attacks on creation, and especially the Genesis Flood. I had someone appeal to the Pope on evolution (even though the Catholic Church does not have evolution as an official dogma). He was attempting to manipulate me through appeal to the wrong wrong authority — I reject that. In addition, it is not uncommon for theistic evolutionists to join with atheists on social(ist) media to demonize biblical creationists. Hail Darwin, blessed be! United in hate. Colorado River and Grand Canyon,  US Geological Survey  (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) There are some theological concerns in these posts, but the science and logical fallacies are helpful to creationists when encountering an atheist or TE who says Grand Canyon displays evidence of an old earth. A book and an article by TEs at BioLogos attack biblical creationists, and their flaws are exposed. Again I ask: Why is it so impor...

Reptile Fossil will Prompt Evolution Rewrites

Image
Proponents of descent with modifications evolution have boxed themselves in with their fundamentally flawed worldview, but they have a rescuing device. A big one, because the problem is serious. An amniote track fossil was found in the wrong place according to evolutionary predictions. Researchers see the tracks and make a story about what went on. One reptile went across the ground, rain lightly fell, and others ran across the ground later. However, it is obvious that tracks disappear quickly. The scientists did not say how these were preserved. Modification of The Passion of Creation , Leonid Pasternak (1892) One problem for secularists is that it takes the right conditions to preserve the fossil tracks, and those would come from the Genesis Flood. What they cannot wave off is the dating of the tracks. Reptiles have always been reptiles since creation, and the tracks support what creationists say. Rewrite the evolution textbooks? Why, sure! They do it all the time. Reptiles belong to...

Solving the Polystrate Fossil Problem

Image
While the devastating difficulty of dinosaur soft tissues cannot be ignored or hidden, uniformitarian geologists have a lesser-known problem: polystrate fossils . Acolytes of the secular science industry like to point out that the phrase comes from creationists. Poison the well much, Marcia? Polystrate fossils are trees that have been fossilized in rock layers that are supposedly millions of years old. Secular geologists also claim that the trees grew in place. However, they do not show signs of partial decay while fossilizing during the requisite years. Also, these fossils are found in coal seams. Polystrate tree fossil in Joggins formation, Wikimedia Commons / Michael C. Rygel ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Some secularists have the audacity — the unmitigated gall — to claim that these things support their views, even saying that the trees have roots. No, Norman, a few pieces that look like the tree was ripped out from the ground before being buried does not qualify as root systems. Polystra...

Genesis Flood Explains Ichthyosaur Graveyard

Image
It was a nice evening, so I saddled up and took a ride into town so as to get some oil for my lamp and watch the show. The townsfolk like entertainment of some sort or another, and Crappie Crankbait from the Darwin Ranch was giving a talk about his specialty, ancient marine reptiles. The topic was ichthyosaurs, which brings a struggle to Crankbait because there is no record of their evolution; they appeared suddenly in the fossil record. Dinosaurs are found in the same rock strata as these fish lizards. Ichthyosaurs, Heinrich Harder, 1916 Interesting that a fossil or remains can be found but not excavated for several years. This happened with an interesting ichthyosaur fossil was named Fiona. This critter met her demise while pregnant or even giving birth, and her last meal was identified. Almost ninety other ichthyosaur fossils were also discovered. Secularists invoked a form of catastrophism, saying that numerous underwater rockslides buried them. That many? On the continent?  No...

The Amazing Heart Mountain Detachment

Image
There are people who claim that they cannot see evidence that God exists, but that is willful ignorance. A bit more difficult is evidence for the global Genesis Flood, Uniformitarian (slow and gradual processes over long periods of time) geologists say there is no evidence for it. While the average person does not have the training to see Flood evidence, these folks are also willfully ignorant. Planation surfaces baffle them, the Great Unconformity testifies against standard views, other things — plus the massive detachment fault at Heart Mountain. Heart Mountain from Exshaw, Wikimedia Commons  Jack Borno ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Wyoming is home to Heart Mountain, and that sure is a lot of pet food — "You're thinking of Hartz Mountain, Cowboy Bob! The pet food company was named after a mountain in Germany." Oh, thanks. Heart Mountain had a huge rock slide in the past, and uniformitarian geologists have to leave their preferred paradigm and admit to catastrophism. That is, the ...

Dinosaur National Monument and the Genesis Flood

Image
Interesting how the western part of America has so many things of interest to geology and paleontology, yes? Lots of national parks and national monuments protected by the government. Most are quite large. Dinosaur National Monument spans parts of two states, Utah and Colorado. This national monument appears in science news frequently, especially because of dinosaurs. Obviously. There is also some interesting geology. That and geology bring along deep time propaganda. Someone can also go camping, river rafting, hiking, and things. Hiker at Dinosaur National Monument, NPS / Jacob W. Frank (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The uniformitarian narrative has rocks building up over hundreds of millions of years. Slowly. The Morrison Formation contains the dinosaurs, and they say it is 150 million years old. The story of how the fossils formed is out of kilter with the usual tale. There are details of what is actually observed with the fossils and the rocks that are far be...

More Dinosaur Tracks and the Genesis Flood

Image
For a long time, it was thought that only hard things like bones, shells, and things could be preserved by fossilization. Dinosaur soft tissues threw secular paleontology for a loop. Also, improvements in technology and skill yielded fossilized things like brains and jellyfish. Consider that footprints are delicate. Take a stroll on the seashore and make tracks. Turn around and watch the waves take them away. Fossil dinosaur trackways in some places need to be studied in a hurry before water destroys them. Others are discovered and they can be studied at leisure. Dinosaur tracks,  United States Geological Survey (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Tracks in Oxfordshire, England, made some news. Secular scientists assume them to be millions of years old ( huge chunks of time are like toys for then ), but that raises a prairie schooner-full of questions and doubts. Consider that these pristine prints had to lay there waiting to be discovered while undisturbed by all...

Deep Time and Geological Toys

Image
Quark-to-quartermaster evolution requires deep time for the propagation of its stories, and also to make evolutionary stories seem plausible in the first place. Geological evolution provides whatever billions or millions of years that biological evolutionists require. One serious limitation in these fields is that secular scientists have been taught to think in evolutionary paradigms. Maverick thinking beyond uniformitarianism is rare. Many scientists are willing to fit in with the crowd and play with chunks of time to make Darwin smile. Doing lazy research while restricting interpretations of data to yield expected results are not uncommon. Geological interests at Colorado Springs, Unsplash / Taylor Burnfield Those canyons in central Colorado? Carved out by rivers over millions of years, they insist. Other explanations are neglected, and the expected conclusions are supported by limited attempts at empirical research. Dating methods based on assumptions and circular reasoning make the...

Mystery of Mammoth Extinction

Image
Mammoths seemed to be doing rather well during the Ice Age, but the number shrank and eventually they all joined the choir invisible. Scientists want to know why. A couple of the major camps slap leather with each other because they think they have the correct answer. Based on uniformitarian deep time, of course. One camp thinks that the human population surged and the Clovis people (possibly the first Americans) hunted them to extinction. Spear marks like the ones the Clovis gang used were found on woolly mammoth skeletons, but this idea has flaws. Mammoths image, Flickr /  Andrew Wilkinson  ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) Another idea is that mammoths died off because of climate change. (Yes, there is such a thing, but not the kind used by leftist fearmongers.) The scientists who think that the critters died from it point out that spears were unlikely to be so effective in hunting, and the marks were instead from harvesting the meat. This scenario has many problems as well, so secularists...

Iguanas Rafted from North America to Fiji?

Image
A few years back, I posted an article by biblical creationists proposing that one way animals spread around the world after the Genesis Flood was by rafting. Misotheists had a grand time ridiculing it — unaware that evolutionists had been catching onto that idea. In a grandiose display of evoporn, Darwinists demonstrate that they believe reality does not compare with pure imagination: Iguanas rafted from North America to Fiji thirty-four million fanciful years ago. They must have because they live there now — which is the fallacy of  affirming the consequent . Rafting iguanas and rainbow of imagination, made by DeepAI This peer-reviewed  story is gelastic for several reasons. One is that there is no plausible mechanism. Another is that desert iguanas, not the swimming type, are the supposed ancestors of those in Fiji. Third, they could not survive such a trip. Yes, lizards have been seen rafting and presumed to successfully make some trips — but nothing nearly as long as this ...

Giant Sequoias Exhibit Design

Image
If you saddle up and ride out California way, head on over to the Sierra Nevada mountains. Then you can find Sequoia National Park . There you will see the giant sequoias which are the largest trees in the world. People sometimes confuse them with giant redwoods — the tallest  trees. So how did they get up there in such a limited area? There are several factors work together for giant sequoias to propagate. Also, the way water gets all the way to the top is an engineering feat. Finally, their existence and location fits the biblical timeline. Giant sequoias, one on right with fire damage, Wikimedia Commons (PD) It is interesting how in the wake of forest fire destruction comes renewal. Fires and scorched ground are essential for giant sequoia seed growth. The trees have been around for thousands of years, and can reach heights around 99 meters (325 feet). Human engineers marvel at how giant sequoias pump 1,890 liters (500 gallons) up each tree every day. Also, the Genesis Fl...

A Plague of Fluffy Bunnies and the Genesis Flood

Image
Bwasted wabbits brought to Australia, then became a nightmare for agriculture! Cuteness evaporates for those viewing them after they damaged crops. Only twenty-four rabbits, and they did what rabbits do: Eat and make offspring. Hundreds of millions of offspring. The conditions were right, since there was great eating and no significant predators. Biblical creationists can use this fluffy bunny plague as an example of population growth and apply it to the Genesis Flood. There are several factors to take into consideration. Rabbit, Flickr / Marit & Toomas Hinnosaar ( CC BY 2.0 ) Scoffers say that it is ridiculous that the populations of humans and animals can be rebuilt after the Flood by so few specimens. They need to learn to do the math and figure in exponential growth. Another objection is that inbreeding depression would result. Today, yes. (Charles Darwin was concerned about his offspring when he married a first cousin.) Back at the time of the Flood, genetic degradation was n...

The Genesis Flood and Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Image
Americans have a wealth of national monuments and parks, many of which are comprised of large tracts of land.  Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP) is the only one named after an individual, as Teddy was both a big game hunter and a conservationist president. TRNP went through changes, first as a memorial and finally as a national park in 1978. (By the way, the teddy bear was named in his honor .) TRNP went through changes, first as a memorial and finally as a national park in 1978. It is an unintentional monument to the Genesis Flood. Layered badlands at Theodore Roosevelt National Park, NPS / Laura Thomas (PD) Sure, like other geological areas, TRNP has information signs promoting the standard uniformitarianism (slow and gradual processes over long periods of time) belief. This view does not hold up for knowledgeable people. Flat planation surfaces, the badlands, layering, and more are far better explained by the Genesis Flood. TRNP consists of a vast badlands landscape of f...

Crocodilian Fossil at the Jurassic Coast

Image
Crocodilians, thalattosuchians, crocodylomorphs — different words, and the distinctions clutter the discussion. I will stick with crocodilian. Darwin's disciples are excited about a fossil for one of these critters. but it throws off their evolutionary storyline. The tale is that a land animal with four limbs in the Triassic period changed into crocodilians. There was enough of the new discovery available for scientists to identify it and give it a name: Turnersuchus hingleyae . They say it is the only thalattocuchian from its geologic age. Jurassic Coast of England, Flickr / Liam Eldret ( CC BY 2.0 ) There are some interesting speculations about  T. hingleyae , including how its skull indicates that it could bite quickly and powerfully. A suggestion was made that it was a live bearer instead of egg layer, but there is no evidence to support this. Evolutionary speculation without evidence? Say it isn't so! Vertebrate fossils of land-dwelling creatures have also been found in ...

Of Hippopotamuses, England, and the Flood

Image
While there were other hippopotamuses long ago, there are only two kinds left: the pygmy and the river. Interesting contrast, as the river hippo makes its home in the Nile. It is the third largest land animal and very dangerous. They are also fragile. To modify a line from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , Hippopotamuses glide through water in much the same way that bricks don't. Water temperature must be just right, and no salt, either. So how did they get to merrie olde England? Dining hippopotamus, Pixabay / Petar Ubiparip Since they cannot fit through the doors of mass transit and they cannot operate motor vehicles, they must have walked. But Cowboy Bob, England isn't very merry and it's surrounded by water! Well, Ireland and Britain are islands now , but there was a time when the areas were accessible by foot. This involves the Ice Age that was the result of the Genesis Flood. (People have some wrong ideas about the Ice Age, such as many of them in the past an...

Folded Rocks and the Rapid Formation of Grand Canyon

Image
Denizens of the secular science industry have a habit of telling stories, especially when they need to protect deep time. After all, the Bearded Buddha needs many years to make his evolution story seem plausible, so they give it to him. Evidence for the Genesis Flood is rejected out of hand. Some time ago, Dr. Andrew Snelling was pondering the folded rocks at Grand Canyon. Try to bend or fold a rock now, it shatters under the force. He wanted to take some rocks for examination, but government officials discriminated against him and refused permission . Monument fold in the Tapeats Sandstone, Flickr / Nate Loper ( CC BY 2.0 ) Fortunately, Dr. Snelling won the lawsuit and was able to collect fifty-three samples. His goal was to see if secular scientists could adequately explain rock folds or if they were just using the principle of Making Things Up™ again to bolster their story of 500 million years to fold those rocks. Tomorrow is Question Evolution Day The samples were processed with g...

Fireweed Designed to Reclaim Damaged Land?

Image
There is a perennial wildflower that grows in temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere known as fireweed  in America, and  rosebay willowherb in Britain. It seems like an understatement to refer to land as disturbed  after fires or volcanic eruptions (or bombing, it has been called bombweed  in England), but fireweed is ready to reclaim the land. Fireweed is attractive, but may be sparse during good times for the land. Its method of distributing itself on disturbed land (above and below ground) is quite interesting. Fireweed, Flickr / Alaska Region U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Kristine Sowl (PD) When Mt. St. Helens erupted, the land was a mess and scientists watched for years to see how it would recover. Guess what showed up right quick-like? Yup, fireweed was observed  by 1985. Fungi also joined the land reclamation party. Add to this is that fireweed and other plants are food for wildlife — if they eat the right varieties at opportune times. One reas...

Defacing the Tomb of Darwin

Image
There are pictures usually taken at strategic moments, then captioned with things like, "Have you ever been so angry that you tackled a horse ?" Well, have you ever been so angry that you defaced classic artwork and also Darwin's tomb? A group known as Just Stop Oil believes that because global temperatures allegedly reached a certain number, we are now in the sixth great extinction. These t3rrorists are stupid on several levels, not the least of which is like other t3rrorists, they enrage people, then expect sympathy for their cause. Darwin's Tomb at Westminster Abbey, Flickr / Amanda ( CC BY 2.0 ) The denizens of Just Stop Oil are buying into evolutionary mythologies including deep time and the so-called great extinctions. Well, those extinction events are based on assumptions merged with storytelling, and they should have considered possibilities outside the evolution box. One in particular is how the Genesis Flood covers the data of one catastrophic event instead...
