AI and Human Value

Image
People try to find value (or validation) in many places, something to make them feel...complete. It is natural to wonder what standard is used to give a person value. Comparing ourselves to other people is common, but it gets discouraging because there is always someone better at something. Computers and robots are better at many things than humans, but those are designed for specific purposes. Artificial intelligence is highly advanced software. It often mimics human thinking, and some folks think it can surpass humanity. Bionic eye, Pixabay /  intographics A person is unlikely to feel inferior to a robot or computer because a comparison is unreasonable — and they do not look like us. AI is being implemented into human images, and perhaps some people are intimidated by something that seems human but is superior as well. Is the worth of a person based on performance or the expectations of what he or she can contribute to society? My wife worked for an agency that supported mentally...

Monkeying Around with Evolution and Time

Image
For Darwin's disciples, time is a hero in their evolution stories. It has been pointed out before that evolution requires millions or billions of years to happen. Cosmologists, geologists, and others strive to "find" those years — which are constantly assumed anyway. Consider that geologists tenaciously cling to slow and gradual uniformitarianism, reluctantly admitting rapid processes occur when they are in a corner. Also, the myth that humans and chimpanzee DNA is 98%–99% similar was debunked, but pertinent information was obscured in footnotes  because the timeline was too small. Sulawesi crested macaque, Wikimedia Commons / R.Rahasia ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ), modified at PhotoFunia Obscuring the data, denying the evidence, and even lying outright are not science, old son. Those are tactics to protect the narrative. People are desperate to deny the fact that life was created, and created recently. An old attempt to make evolution plausible (which presupposes deep time) is the ...

Pterosaur at the Salad Bar?

Image
Some biblical creationists do not cotton to the expression "YEC," as young earth creationist  implies that a young earth is the starting point. Rather, we believe that the earth is young because the Bible clearly indicates recent creation; it is true from the very first verse. It may come as a shock to some people, but when reading the creation account, Genesis 1:30 says that everything was vegetarian! If something has nasty sharp big pointy teeth, that does not guarantee it is carnivorous. Many are, of course. Pterosaur eating leaves, made at Bing image generator using DALLE-3 Aside from the spaghetti-loving lioness and other modern exceptions to the "pointy teeth means carnivore" assumption, take a look at the pterosaur that was eating greens. Advanced technology used on a pterosaur fossil showed that it did just that. There were two strong indicators that this was not just an exception or that it scarfed down some green garnish along with meat. What has been di...

Marine Invertebrate Animals Designed to Disperse

Image
The number of marine invertebrate animals is rather startling, and they are found in oceans all over the earth. A key to their dispersion is their larval forms. Like many other living things, the youngest stages are markedly different from their adult forms. Most of the larvae are microscopic and can live in various conditions. This gives them the ability to travel great distances, often putting full development on hold until the right time. Biblical creationists note that these invertebrates were as diverse before the Genesis Flood as they are today. Rock-boring urchin, National Park Service (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Many times, creationists describe the way organisms adapt, grow, and other things to show that they are the products of design, not Darwinism. With marine invertebrate animals, another factor indicates the work of the Master Engineer: ocean currents. The critters are carried through the paths of the sea to all sorts of locations. Marine inverteb...

Bad Science, Materialism, and Emergence

Image
Although many materialists treat science as a religion, it is actually a philosophy — a way of conducting searches to find certain truths about the world. Materialists assume that physical things such as molecules and atoms are all that exist, but there is no God. Materialists use their presuppositions to advance their secular worldview. When they cannot back up their claims, they fudge it and employ escape hatches (rescuing devices). Notice how Darwinists say that something emerged  but let the statement itself serve as evidence. Aircraft escape hatch at Kasuga Air Base, Wikimedia Commons / Hunini ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) Something supposedly emerged according to evolution. How did it emerge? What caused it? People who want their biases confirmed are willing to settle for stories and bland assertions, but they are unwilling to consider that evidence can be better interpreted to show that something "emerged" because it was created. Faced with conundrums posed by the origin of the un...

Facing Conflict with Near-Death Experiences

Image
The subject of near-death experiences (NDEs) is highly controversial, but has been fascinating people for many years. One reason scientists have difficulty examining them is because they are extremely subjective. Also, there is a variety of experiences. Some people see light and a voice they attribute to God or an angel that tells them it is not yet time, go back. Others experienced terror. Many lives have been changed, but not always for the better and they need counseling. Those who went to a happy place resent coming back; their infirmities still exist. Spirit, light, and clouds, Pixabay / Gerd Altmann (geralt) Medically, some NDEs can be dismissed as hallucinations because the brain goes into special functions. There are times when people in the midst of an NDE returned and described people, conversations, and more that they could not have known about. The idea of giving counseling to NDE experiencers (especially to those who have challenges to their worldviews) involves materiali...

Christmas and the Empty Chair

Image
It could be that I am counting wrong, this is the third Christmas without my departed wife. She died in September 2023, so that year was the first, 2024 was the second, now it is 2025. (My doubts are because I do not remember some things.) I look at her chair and picture her watching 1951's  Scrooge  with me. We see the empty chairs where friends and family members gathered with us, feeling pangs of loss. But Christmas is not just about family, gifts, and things. Secular ideas tend to drown out the true meaning. Unoccupied place setting, Unsplash / Mark Chan The purpose, despite the multitudinous add-ons, is to observe the birth of Jesus. He is God the Son, the Creator of the universe — and us. (Although God the Son has existed eternally, it is fitting to celebrate the birthday of the man Jesus, Phil. 2:7, Rev. 22:16.) Although I had some tears while writing this post, I have to do what all of us should do: Focus on Jesus. Christmas actually reminds us that he came to die for ...

Trusting the History in the Bible

Image
As mentioned previously , atheists have a fondness for calling the Bible "fairy tales." Even a cursory reading of the Bible and fairy tales reveal marked differences. Myths, fairy tales, and legends tend to be vague but the Bible has dates and locations. Short videos are very popular now and many have nice stories with happy endings. F'rinstance, the waitress in the diner noticed the young boy was not acting right and saved his life — but zero  details. Look for those next time you watch one and use healthy skepticism. Universe and Bible, Pixabay /  Alex Myers  and  Maicon Fonseca Zanco Scoffers may say that people just decided to make up a religion and wrote a book to support it, which is risible to thinking people. If you  were going to make up a religion and give its history, wouldn't you construct the characters as really wonderful folks? The Bible records betrayal, bad decisions, and other things, revealing that the people were genuine. Indeed, there are fo...

Fishes and Plants Survived the Genesis Flood

Image
Biblical creationists believe what the Bible says about creation, which includes how the earth is young. The global Genesis Flood has many attributes that secularists avoid or try to explain away. Many times, questions are asked in bad faith; they think will destroy the belief system of creationists. Some of those questions resonate with Christians as well because they have wondered the same thing — but they genuinely want to know the answers. One of these is about how plants and fishes survived the Genesis Flood, since saltiness levels would have changed. NOAA Fisheries image of two sturgeons Keep in mind that people are starting from current knowledge about the world, but there are facts about the antediluvian world for which we can only speculate. Even so, there are characteristics of living plants and animals that can be examined and reach some possibly surprising answers. For several points to consider, click on " How did fish and plants survive the Genesis Flood? "

To the Politically Correct Science Victors Belong the Spoils?

Image
In The Chronicles of Riddick , "You keep what you kill" meant that if you eliminate someone, you keep their possessions, title, and so on. There is also a variation on the Golden Rule: "Whoever has the gold makes the rules." This article's title is a variation on another common saying. This site and others have documented ad nauseum  how leftists have been dominating the culture for years. Political things have slopped over into the secular science industry, and identity politics have become prominent. A person's abilities are less important than their identities. Plush bear chained to treasure chest, Pixabay / Davie Bicker People have been hired to do jobs where the lives of others are at stake. Do you want a firefighter, police officer, air traffic controller, or even an educator to be someone who passed the requisite exams, or because someone is a member of a special interest group that leftists promote? Secularists are using the spoils of culture wars to...

The Myth of Tiktaalik as a Missing Link

Image
Darwin's Flying Monkeys™ swoop down on creationist sites, gleefully telling us how stupid we — they are the smart ones for believing "science." One example is something like, " Tiktaalik  is a transitional form that refutes creation. Haw, haw, haw!" Not hardly! It seems that atheists and other evolutionists do not keep current with their evolution stories; knowledgeable creationists have to correct them. In this case, tetrapods (vertebrates with four limbs, including humans) supposedly evolved from lobe-finned fish. Rikki-tikki-tiktaalik was one such fish. Tiktaalik roseae , WikiComm / Olmagon ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ), modified at PhotoFunia Darwin's disciples were all a-twitter when they found parts of Tiktaalik  because they presuppose their story of evolution and that it made tracks on land. This meant it wanted to be a tetrapod. A big problem for evolution believers is that they often don't get the memo: Tracks by a tetrapod were found that were dated using...

Memories in Cells

Image
It has been long debated where memories are located in the brain, especially since they seem to be in many regions. The more the brain is studied, the more amazing it becomes — and yet, the brain is not the mind; the mind uses  the brain. Although many materialists try to deny the existence of consciousness, they have major problems with evidence for it ( including how it supposedly evolved ). The concept of panpsychism  (everything has some sort of consciousness) is not exactly welcome, but evidence for memory in kidney cells seems to fit. Brain Drawing, Pixabay / Pete Linforth (modified) Indeed, there is a possibility that other cell types also show a kind of memory. This smacks of pagan pantheism (but then, evolution itself is a pagan belief ). However, memories outside of the brain and in cells actually point to something higher: The Master Engineer is showing his amazing skill at design work, and humans are beginning to see this aspect of it as well. To read the short ar...

Materialists Beginning to Respect Non-Materialists?

Image
People on social(ist) media, regular media, and in print notice that misotheists often ridicule those of us who believe in immaterial things. A surprising number are inconsistent , believing in psychic matters, prayer, ghosts, and other things. We have seen that atheists are also inconsistent about the mind or soul — many deny it exists, but still look for its location in the brain. Many of us know that the brain is not the mind, but the mind uses  the brain. A neurosurgeon and an atheist had an interesting discussion on consciousness and other things. Brain and consciousness, Pixabay /  Gerd Altmann  (Geralt) The two Mikes. Dr. Michael Egnor is a neurosurgeon and believes that the mind is not simply physiological reactions, Dr. Michael Shermer is an atheist. It is very interesting that Egnor asked Shermer to offer an explanation for near-death experiences that contained verified details. Also, Egnor pressed Shermer to explain immaterial things such as morality: How can a...

Drumming Monkeys and Music Evolution?

Image
Remember how evolution is used to explain almost everything , actually explaining nothing? Instead of using their skill and education to do something useful, some of Darwin's disciples produced some evoporn about how chimpanzees demonstrate the evolution of rhythms, and then music. There are some interesting things in the research, showing that the chimps have different styles and selected percussive devices. This is supposed to show that an unknown common ancestor of humans and apes also drummed. However, commonality can also be evidence of a common Designer. Chimpanzee playing drum kit, made at DeepAI Anyone who has studied on it a spell knows that music is intricate and many things are coordinated. No word of chimpanzees composing a drum piece or full-scale music to go with it. Also, our alleged evolutionary cousins have been around a long time, but they have not developed intricacy of drumming. Presuppose evolution and expect to have one's biases confirmed results in pusill...

The Camp Mystic Tragedy, God, and Darwinism

Image
Most Americans probably know of the July 4, 2025 flash flood tragedies in Texas. The one that is most prominent is Camp Mystic for Girls near Hunt, Texas. At this writing, twenty-seven campers and counselors are dead, and others are still missing. In this and other disasters, people wonder, "Where is God?" There is a word for attempts to reconcile the love of God (or even his existence) with evil in the world. It is theodicy , but academic discussions can seem glib or self-serving. Interestingly, the Camp Mystic tragedy is a challenge to atheists and other Darwinists. Camp Mystic, Flickr / crawford orthodontics ( CC BY-NC-SA 2.0 ) The camp is a nondenominational Christian. It was established in 1926 as Stewart's Camp for Girls. It was sold in 1937 to the Stacy family. Somewhere along the line, the name was changed to Camp Mystic because the morning mist on the Guadalupe River  gave the area a mystic feel, There had been several previous incidents of flooding over the ye...

Pangaea and Geology Failings

Image
In the beginning, secular version, there was nothing — which exploded. Cosmic expansion and that sort of thing happened. Eventually, hot swirling gasses coalesced and formed the sun and planets. This story is the nebular hypothesis , which is full of holes but they like it better than alternatives. Geologists in the secular science industry named their early time of Earth the Hadean Eon . That is based on the name of Hell (Luke 16:23, Rev. 20:13) and the Greek god of the underworld, Hades. Earth was supposedly cooling and the first crust was forming. Erupting volcano, Wikimedia Commons / National Park Service (PD) Continental plates — those slabs of rock underneath — bump into each other, push down, also causing earthquakes, volcanoes, and all that good stuff. This activity was supposed to give the chemical "fingerprint" seen in continents. Now secularists say the fingerprint was there all along — from creation, but they won't admit that part. Geological evolution fails ...

Limitations of the Omnipotent God

Image
It may come as a shock, but yes, there are some things that God cannot do. He created the universe and raised Jesus, God the Son, from the dead. But he still has certain limitations. One is that he cannot go against his nature. Professing atheists like "gotcha" questions like, "If God is all-powerful, can he make a rock so big he cannot lift it?" These tinhorns think they are being clever, but they are showing some serious intellectual flaws. God is perfect in logic, and such challenges are illogical. Mountains, rocks, flowers, and sun, Unsplash / Damian Markutt The challenge is based on contradictory premises, so it is nothing. God cannot make  nothing. He is all-powerful (omnipotent) and has no limitations outside himself.  Such disingenuous questioners are trying to use his omnipotence against him — without understanding what that word means. Roslyn B from Tasmania, Australia asked: My son (grade 8) asked me a question which he was asked by a peer (who says he’s...

Using Evolution as an Easy Explanation

Image
People appeal to evolution frequently, probably to make something appear more sciency. F'rinstance, I stopped watching a video when it said that people scanning their environment is a leftover from evolution. That was insultingly stupid — and unknowable. The idea of injecting evolution into media seems to come from authority figures in the secular science industry: They frequently make unsupportable assertions. Unfortunately, those scientists and many lay people have a worldview that uses molecules-to-mechanic evolution as a foundation. But critical thinkers may ask, "What evidence do you have for your claim?" Time and time again, we have shown how evolutionists presuppose evolution and then "see" it in many places. Variation, speciation, and all that good stuff are not evolution, old son, and fit into the creationist paradigm. Many other instances of circumstances called evolution are only imagined. An expert in plants examined  stomata , tiny openings that all...

Dolophones — Spiders in Hiding

Image
There are many advantages to reading creation science material, one of which is learning about creatures living all around the world. Australia and its neighbours have some startlers, many of which are exceptionally dangerous. Fortunately, Dolophone  wrap-around spiders are exceptions. They get their handle by the way they hide. Not only do they become almost indistinguishable from branches and such, they wrap around them. They are on the small side, and spend their lives up yonder in the trees — making them even harder to find. Dolophone orb weaver, Flickr / P.D. Amara (public domain) The ability to hide is very interesting itself, but something else to consider from these orb weavers is web silk. This is something that has fascinated scientists for ages. Biblical creationists discuss the amazing construction involved in building webs . There is a great deal of specified complexity involved, all the way down to the DNA, that believers in descent with modifications cannot explain...

Genesis Flood Explains Ichthyosaur Graveyard

Image
It was a nice evening, so I saddled up and took a ride into town so as to get some oil for my lamp and watch the show. The townsfolk like entertainment of some sort or another, and Crappie Crankbait from the Darwin Ranch was giving a talk about his specialty, ancient marine reptiles. The topic was ichthyosaurs, which brings a struggle to Crankbait because there is no record of their evolution; they appeared suddenly in the fossil record. Dinosaurs are found in the same rock strata as these fish lizards. Ichthyosaurs, Heinrich Harder, 1916 Interesting that a fossil or remains can be found but not excavated for several years. This happened with an interesting ichthyosaur fossil was named Fiona. This critter met her demise while pregnant or even giving birth, and her last meal was identified. Almost ninety other ichthyosaur fossils were also discovered. Secularists invoked a form of catastrophism, saying that numerous underwater rockslides buried them. That many? On the continent?  No...
