Over fifty years ago, the Institute for Creation Research was established primarily through the efforts of Dr. Henry M. Morris. Dr. Duane T. Gish joined him a bit later, the others. It reorganized in recent years under new leadership. Their free  Acts & Facts magazine has been published since 1972. A recent edition discussed eleven myths of standard (conventional) science beliefs, and I will present several or all when I feature ICR material here. Folks may bristle at the idea that there are myths in science, especially evolution, but they do exist. One source of mirth for professing atheists and other evolutionists is that biblical creationists believe humans and dinosaurs lived at the same time, but dinosaurs have since kicked the bucket and joined the choir invisible. Their narrative demands millions of years between us and them. Creationists have shown problems with deep time, and even some secular scientists admit that the evidence is severely lacking. Indeed, there are legends of  creatures that greatly resembling dinosaurs in human history — and there are other evidences as well. Atheists despise these things as they point to recent creation. Way back in the sixth century AD, a monk known as St. Lifard (or Lipardus, among others) was responsible for putting an end to a troublesome dragon. Was there truth to the story? It seems that when one conspiracy theory runs out of steam, another takes its place. The "conspiracy" part often means that the item in question is doubted by many, so there is a conspiracy to suppress it. Theory? Codswallop! The Pyramids of Giza have fascinated people for thousands of years. Pyramids are occasionally given mystical significance. In the 1970s, there was a belief that items in pyramid shapes produced a field that could keep blades sharp, preserve food, and more. Now it is said that there is a city hidden under Giza. There are times when someone is confronted by an accuser, and after giving responses, is told, "You have an answer to everything!" That remark is often sarcastic because some people make things up and give ridiculous excuses. (Of course, the accuser may not want to accept legitimate replies.) Evolution has answers. It is interesting that the puny god of evolution is often treated as a powerful being with the ability to make decisions. A good part of the way evolution explains what is observed is from practiced storytelling, especially those in science fields. As mentioned in " The Scopes Monkey Trial — 100 Years Later ," there is more material on the trial to present. Again, its real name was "The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes." Plays and movies about the trial are mostly fictional and heavily biased. The pair of articles by Dr. Jason Lisle linked below were surprising, as I was expecting more of the same. Wrong. It seems that theories of relativity are the domain of mathematical geniuses, but it is said that us reg'lar folk can get a handle on them. Uncle Albert Einstein had two theories, General and Special. When physicists study motion, that is mechanics . When the motions of objects in different locations are compared, that is relativity . Scoffers often accuse Jews and Christians of stupidly accepting ancient texts and legends, then incorporating them into our belief systems. As many people know, particles-to-painter evolution is fundamental to atheism. One can have a reasonable dialogue for a short time with a professing atheist on a few subjects, but must not criticize evolution. Many people grew up knowing about (and possibly playing with) crèche scenes of the Nativity of Jesus, which are useful to communicate the birth of Jesus. There are many traditions in Christianity that have little to do with the Bible. Do not disunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with such images. But they are not quite right. In some ways, professing Christians give aid and comfort to enemies of the gospel message. Many liberal theologians do not believe that the Bible is the Word of God and try to find flaws with it. After their scoffing is published, atheists and others use their words as ammunition against God. Whether one likes it or not, concrete is a ubiquitous sign of human progress. Study on it a spell when looking around and seeing various forms of concrete in buildings, sidewalks, and so on. Some folks seem to have the notion that Charles Darwin applied science to his observations, leading to the publication of On the Origin of Species . That is not the case. He had ideas for which he wanted to find support. Interestingly, his writing was not intended as a way to kill God. People have debated whether or not Darwin was an atheist throughout his life, and his writing may imply that he was unsure himself. In the twentieth century, John Dewey was considered a great intellectual. He is credited with developing the modern public school system. Dewey had some odd and contradictory ideas in his worldview. He was an atheist and signer of the atheistic Humanist Manifesto, which openly admitted that it was a religion. Also, he did not believe in absolute truth or knowledge. Mockers of Christians and the Bible frequently make inane statements that Christians and creationists do not understand science, or worse, that we are " science deniers ."
