Still no Evolution in Antibiotic Resistance

Image
One of the most frequently used false claims for fish-to-pharmacist evolution is antibiotic resistance, but what is seen is most definitely not evolution . What we do see is something akin to natural selection because antibiotics kill off some strains but leave others that are resistant. Then we have the problem of superbugs. Mostly made at Yukki.com's tombstone maker The ghost of Charles Darwin is rattling chains in the halls of academia and science labs (and starting the occasional dumpster fire), moaning piteously about his eternal destiny and trying to keep his disciples away from the truth. They don't need his help to reject the Creator, their own hard hearts can take care of that. This "evidence for evolution" is based on outdated and incomplete science coupled with plenty of hubris and wishful thinking. Some of our microbes already have antibiotic resistance. (For that matter, some people groups also have it !) New research shows that bacteria can share

Anything but God in Secular Universe Origins Ideas

Image
You may be surprised to learn that the Big Bang model for the origin of the universe began way back in the 1920s and has been modified numerous times since then. However, the Big Bang simply does not work, so older ideas are being retooled, and new ones are being considered and slipped through the secular torpedo nets. Credit: Pixabay / Johnson Martin Astronomer Fred Hoyle came up with the title Big Bang out of derision. He and other scientists did not like the idea of the universe having a beginning, and preferred the even less scientific but predominant steady state concept. Since the Big Bang has been Frankensteined with parts added on through the years in futile attempts to keep it alive, some scientists are dreaming up other ideas to cling to their cosmic evolution ideas. They will not admit that the facts support  what the Bible said all along: God created. There is definitely no valid reason for professing Christians to use this philosophy as an add-on. A recent New Sc

Tunnel Valleys and the Ice Age

Image
A few weeks back, I met up with Rusty Swingset and his lady friend Jacqueline Hyde (who was not quite herself) before they headed back up to the Darwin Ranch near Deception Pass. They were discussing tunnel valleys, something I had never heard of before. Turns out some are a few days' ride (a few hours by car) from me. Finger Lakes image credit: NASA Just south of Lake Ontario in the state of New York is a region called the Finger Lakes. You can see why (besides, "Clawmark Lakes" could seem a mite scary), since there are about eleven of them going pretty much north and south, and quite narrow. How did they get there? Tunnel valleys like this are in many places when Earth wore an ice hat. More specifically, areas that were glaciated. Rapid meltwater during the Ice Age carved them out, but the timing details are sketchy. Some uniformitarian geologists think these happened over several ice ages, but they cannot provide evidence. More likely, the flows were catastroph

Epigentics, Creation Science, and — Lamarck?

Image
Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck may be coming back from the sepulcher of evolutionary philosophies. The secular science establishment decided to ride for the Darwin gang and Lamarck was essentially told, "Go away, boy, you bother me", but some of his contributions are acknowledged. Lamarck portrait by Charles Thévenin 1802 Although Lamarck is touted as the purveyor of inherited characteristics from his 1809 publication on evolution, he is somewhat misrepresented. The typical dismissal often includes the idea that giraffes developed longer necks to reach leaves in trees. While he was more wrong than Papa Darwin on evolution, he may have had a notion that was ahead of its time. Scientists are realizing that the nuclear genome is not the be-all and end-all of inheritance. Studies in epigenetics are showing that this area plays a large part in the inheritance of characteristics, and some behaviors are actually learned for a few generations . Some scientists are looking back on

A Nice Day to Consider Saturn

Image
Sometimes we may wonder why the names of planets were chosen after some very unsavory characters. Kronos was a Greek titan, son of sky and earth (Uranus and Gaia). In a violent coup with the help of Gaia, he overthrew Uranus which caused giants, fairies, and nymphs to form. He later ate his own children, but was forced to cough them up years later — none the worse for wear. False-color image combination of Saturn Credit: NASA / E. Karkoschka (University of Arizona) His rule was not much help against the Romans, who conquered and also merged Kronos with Saturn . Except for varying accounts of mythology, a nifty evolution-defying planet and its helpful moons, and the name of a day of the week, this sidewinder is pretty much forgotten. Misotheists say that the Bible reads like "fairy tales" or "mythology", but I lack belief that they are intellectually honest when making such foolish comparisons. No need to put on a saturnine countenance as we will now l

The Surprising Human Voice

Image
Many birds and animals communicate audibly, and even some fishes and whales make themselves heard to each other. Mates, offspring, and certain others recognize each others' sounds. The human voice, however, has many features to set us apart from critters. Credit: Pixabay / Free-Photos (edited) There are certain types of speakers that I like to hear, probably because of pitch and timbre . You have probably had the same experience where it is pleasant to hear someone talking. We can also tell people apart when they speak or sing (I'll allow that some are difficult until you listen for a spell). We have more range and versatility than the creatures God made — they're not built that way. Language is something that sets us apart (see " Language Itself Testifies of the Creator "). Pronunciations in some languages require a great deal of work (such as when someone who speaks English tries to learn Russian, for example). No animals write songs in a language, p

The Energy-Efficient Albatross

Image
Have you ever seen a Gooney Bird riding the wind? If so, you would probably have to have been in windy latitudes. It got that nickname because of its take-off and landing clumsiness, and mayhaps because of amusing courtship dances. It is more formally known as the albatross. Northern Royal Albatross image credit: Wikimedia Commons / JJ Harrison ( CC by-SA 3.0 ) Some look like an overgrown seagull in some ways, but with much longer wingspans. They can stay at sea for a mighty long time, too. But they rely on wind currents (something that researchers want to imitate for unmanned aerial vehicles), so they spend some time in the water when the wind dies down and pick up again with the winds. Creationists have studied the kinds of these birds that went on the Ark, as there are many species of albatrosses. There are other related birds as well. Graceful. In control. Effortless. That’s how the wandering albatross (Diomedea exulans) has appeared to generations of sailors on the f

Genomic Data Wreck Evolution

Image
In the thrilling days of yesteryear when Darwin roamed the earth, people believed in evolution through natural selection. As science developed, folks realized that Darwin was wrong. The science of genetics that was initiated by Gregor Mendel (peas be upon him) was hijacked and merged with natural selection. The science is still against it, but secularists believe it anyway — they don't take a fancy to admitting that there's a Creator. Apparatchiks for the Darwin Party roam teh interweb to pummel people who think for themselves and reject evolutionism, but they do not seem to understand what evolution entails. They certainly haven't kept up on the aspects of science that refute it, such as biology, cosmology, paleontology , and more. Especially genetics. Creationists have been presenting the truth all along. But evolutionists and atheists will believe despite contrary evidence (even from secularists) and despite lack of supporting evidence. Because evolution.

Dinosaur Fossil in a Strange Mix

Image
Rusty Swingset and the hands at the Darwin Ranch like to present the fossil record as an orderly progression of simple to more complex life forms. They get on the prod when someone points out that fossils are frequently out of order according to the evolution narrative. Enhanced and cropped from Wikimedia Commons / andytang20 ( CC by 2.5 ) Point out to some tinhorns that some fossils are in the wrong place and mixed with other fossils, if you watch closely, you can see ghastly plumes of smoke rising from their heads like Ethel Rosenberg. Jumbled fossils support the Genesis Flood and rein in evolutionary excitement. In this case, a kind of Edmontosaurs in Japan caused a heap of excuse making. After all, they detest the truths of recent creation and the Genesis Flood. Researchers published the hadrosaur’s detailed description in the online journal Scientific Reports and named the fossil Kamuysaurus japonicus . Hadrosaurs, known popularly as duck-billed dinosaurs, had plant-eati

Creation and Hermaphrodite Animals

Image
A lonely female notices that the population is getting a mite sparse and there are few or no males available for mating. What can she do? Well, if she is one of the species of hermaphrodites, switch over and become a male. Yes, there are a few critters equipped by our Creator to do this. Credit: US National Park Service / Caroline Rogers This is hermaphroditism, and most of its representatives are invertebrates. (A fake science version of this was an important plot point in Jurassic Park .) About two percent of bony fish have this trait. Believers in fish-to-fire marshal evolution occasionally give a pretense at explaining how this attribute came to be, but they are merely faith assertions, not science. From a creationist point of view, it makes sense to realize that the Master Engineer equipped these creatures with one of the ol' switch-a-roo characteristics. Reproduction is a complex, widely varied process, depending on the animals involved. For some animals, it merely i

Lunar Water Cannot Last Billions of Years

Image
My soda was warm, so I wanted to stop by the moon and get some ice. I stopped by one of the hidey-hole craters and it was gone, having been smashed and scattered by a meteoroid or something. Another error for deep time, ice on the moon is not forever. Sure, these perspective things can be overused, but this one is pretty good. Credit: Unsplash / Valery Sysoev First they find water on the moon which threatens one of their lunar origin theories , now this. Water ice gets tucked away where it is hidden from sunlight and the solar wind, and it is supposed to last a mighty long time. However, secular scientists did not take into account all the activity up there that spreads the ice around and causes it to get out of Dodge. Rescuing devices like comets and the like seem weak — desperate, even. The truth is that the earth, moon, and everything else were created a few thousand years ago. The water detected on the moon by orbiters can only last thousands of years, not billions. A

Young Deep-Space Objects

Image
We have seen numerous examples of how Earth and the rest of our solar system are younger than secular cosmologists expect, so it should be interesting to take a look out further. Current cosmogony has the universe clocking in at a tad over eleven billion years old , but the observed evidence does not support this. M72 globular star cluster, credit: NASA , ESA, Hubble, HPOW Cosmic evolution as well as real science depends on certain laws and rules. When observed data are recalcitrant, secularists circle the wagons and deploy rescuing devices that make things worse. The article featured below presents an overview of four examples of how deep time and the facts are not on good terms. Secular astronomers claim our universe is unimaginably ancient—almost 14 billion years old. Yet the Bible clearly teaches that God created the universe in the relatively recent past, about 6,000 years ago. A previous Impact article described how observations in our own solar system are much more con

Log Rafts and Animal Dispersion

Image
Biogeography is the expensive word for how critters became spread around the world, and it is studied by both secular and biblical creation scientists. Creationists suggest models of how living things reached their destinations after — or during — the Genesis Flood. Proponents of universal common ancestor are left treading water with no answers . Image credit: morgueFile / stickerstack We have discussed animal dispersal before including the red fox , and also material on how animals can raft across oceans , including observed of animals using whatever was available to travel the Pacific after a tsunami . Evolutionists and atheists have ridiculed the idea of floating log rafts and the like, but some are hitching a ride on this concept. Mat and raft concepts have been floating around for many years. Dr. Steve Austin presented a floating mat model for coal seams, and others began developing this model for animal and plant biogeography. The following article discusses some of the h

Evolution and Back Pain

Image
My friend Stormie Waters was in a discussion with her friend Ruby Slippers about back pain. They rode on over to my spread and wondered if I knew about it. So I commenced to doing what any cowboy would do, and looked up back ailments from reliable sources. Credit: Freeimages / kubelik2 The story goes that people who have back pain can blame it on evolution, as we got up from walking on all fours too soon. Evidence? Loose associations, circular reasoning, and especially Darwinian presuppositions. This is another area where evolutionary thinking has hindered medical science. There are all sorts of treatments suggested and prescribed, but they do not help. In fact, some are even harmful. There are secular scientists who are catching onInstead, medical doctors and scientists would be far more helpful if they realized that we were created, not evolved, and there are more effective ways of alleviating pain. That is good news for me because there is seldom a day that goes by where

Carnivorous Caterpillars in the Post-Fall World

Image
Way out yonder in Hawaii, they have themselves a few carnivorous caterpillars. These moth larvae in this isolated area are the only ones known to essentially hunt for other insects. But in an originally very good world at creation, how did this behavior come about? Credit: Clker clipart There are other critters that display unexpected carnivory and rather anti-social behaviors that appear to have been designed for such purposes. This does not fit evolutionary models because it appears that genetic patterns have been modified but no new genetic information has been added. Biblical creationists know that there is some explaining to do regarding this predation, drawing from the Bible (including the meanings of Hebrew words), and non-aggressive behaviors (such as vegetarian eating habits in carnivores). Carnivorous caterpillars are some of the more intriguing insects found in Hawaii. While there are more than a thousand species of Eupithecia moths worldwide, the caterpillars of

The Early Bird was Fossilized

Image
Way back when, Archaeopteryx was considered the oldest bird fossil for quite a while. Archie was also considered a transitional form, part reptile and part bird. Unfortunately for owlhoots riding for the Darwin brand, this critter caused them a heap of problems. Then came the next bird and things became worse. Protoavis image via Wikimedia Commons ( CC0 1.0 ) Archaeopteryx was studied many times and it was finally agreed that it was a true bird. Even so, it was in the "wrong" place in Darwin years, convoluting evolutionary timelines for alleged dinosaur-to-bird evolution. While Archie is better known (Betty, Reggie, Veronica, Jughead, and the others were not fossilized), Protoavis was discovered and less discussed because it is considered the oldest bird fossil, but this bird is more bird than the other bird. They have these problems because of their uniformitarian presuppositions. The Genesis Flood and a recent creation paradigm provide better explanations for wha

Ancient Israeli City Surprises Experts

Image
Much of Israel has not been excavated by archaeologists because people are living there. The unexpected discovery of an ancient city during road construction proved to be both fascinating and startling to many people. It also does not comport with evolutionary thinking. Assembled from images found at openclipart Sure, archaeologists work on settlements all the time, but this one was a city. Not a settlement or even a village, but a very big city. They found all sorts of evidence of intelligent human work and organization, and for people who built this place long before the time of Abraham, it does not fit "primitive" man ideas of Darwinists. However, aside from tenuous dating methods from secularists, it does fit with the biblical timeline, including recent creation and the dispersal after Babel. One of the earliest archaeological sites ever found in Israel is being described as the ‘New York’ of its day. Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority have be

Whale Hybrid Baffles Evolutionists, Affirms Creation

Image
The hands at the Darwin Ranch are amazed because DNA testing on a whale skull demonstrated that it was a hybrid between beluga "sea canary" whales and narwhal whales with that long pointy tooth. According to evolutionary mythology, the belwhal should never exist. Narwhal Illustration ,William Scoresby, 1820 You see, the narwhal and beluga supposedly split in their ancestry millions of Darwin years ago, so all those confounded mutations should have made interbreeding impossible. It happened anyway (they didn't consult evolutionists before getting frisky in the Arctic waters). However, this is not all that surprising for biblical creationists. Indeed, it supports baraminology (the study of the biblical created kinds ). This gives rise to many varieties. Three unusual-looking whales were caught in Greenland by Inuit hunters in the late 1980s—unlike any the Inuit had ever seen. Each was an even grey colour, with flippers like those of belugas, and tails like those of

Chernobyl and Radiation Adaptability

Image
The city of Pripyat, Ukraine was the home to about 50,000 people. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was also near there, and it experienced a devastating explosion in 1986. This city had to be abandoned. There is a huge exclusion (no-go) zone to everyone out except those with special permission. Pripyat, Ukraine after the 1986 Chernobyl disaster Credit: NASA GSFC Landsat / LDCM EPO Team (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The radiation killed many people, and it was expected that nothing could survive near there for many centuries. Surprisingly, there are living things there. Many plants, and animals are returning. Secularists claim that this is due to evolution. Not hardly! Evolution is supposed to be random and it takes a great deal of time, so claiming credit for Darwin is contrary to their own belief system. Human engineers attempt to anticipate problems and build contingencies into their designs. As we have seen, the Master Engineer has designed living th

Genetics and the Recent Creation of Humanity

Image
Genetics is not helpful to proponents of universal common ancestor evolution and the belief in deep time. Materialists reject recent creation because evolution, but they have a heap of problems of their own to deal with. Both creationists and evolutionists interpret data from their worldviews. Modified from Adam and Eve in Worthy Paradise , Peter Paul Rubens, c. 1610 One reason secularists reject creation science material is the genetic fallacy. That is, they do not like the source, even though creation scientists have valid degrees. Further, the scientific evidence needs to be considered, not just circumvented or evosplained away. Taking the data and applying the creationist model, we see that the science supports our position and glorifies the Creator, not Darwin. What follows is a link to a self-contained book chapter that is quite long. It has charts and a great deal of data, plus documentation and links for those who want to really did in to the technical aspects. The c

Snake Legs and a Double-Header

Image
Submitted for your examination, two articles about snake evolution. First up is a tale of the alleged evolution of snake legs. Darwinists are fond of their mythology, but they do not get it right. The idea of when and how snakes lost their legs is argued, but also false. Emerald tree boa image credit: RGBStock / Juliane Riedl Evolutionists assume evolution and then work from there instead of questioning whether or not hadron-to-herpetologist evolution is true in the first place. The story is that those bumps or "spurs" on snakes are vestigial; they had them millions of Darwin years ago, and then lost them. Say it with me: loss of functions is devolution , not a gain of function. You savvy that? In reality, these spurs are designed by our Creator for use in trees and for, uh, romance. They don't use their spurs on horses because they can't reach the saddles in the first place. . . . The fact is, boas and pythons do not have vestigial legs but rather very funct
