Cold Blooded, Warm Blooded, and Non-Evolution

Image
In an amazing surprise, proclaimers of universal common descent evolution used circular reasoning. Just kidding, they frequently do that sort of thing. There is a huge gulf between warm- and cold-bloodedness, and the expensive word comes into play: thermoregulation. If you look closely at it, you can figure out that it means that living things can keep their body temperatures within certain boundaries. There are many various methods utilized so they do not become too cold or overheated whenever possible. Alligator and lions wanting you to pet them, both images from Pxhere Scientific literature has plenty of material about, "Boy, thermoregulation sure is a nifty thing, being helpful and all." But evolution is supposed to be without purpose, right? These jaspers often discuss why  it evolved, and that's bad medicine to fundamentalist evolutionists. Except when teleology suits their purposes. Researchers studied both fossilized and living mammals and learned about the uniq

A View from an Astronaut

Image
One does not need to be a traveler in space to appreciate creation, but it helps. Several American astronauts, especially in the early days of the space program, have become more aware of the Creator.  These include  James Irwin ,  Buzz Aldrin  (who took communion on the moon),  Jack Lousma ,  Rick Husband , Jeff Williams , and others. Answers  magazine interviewed Barry Wilmore, an accomplished pilot who spent time on the International Space Station. Barry traveled on both Soyuz  and Space Shuttles.  He points out that we do not need to go up yonder to experience the Creator in our lives here and now. Barry Wilmore, ISS-41 in 2015 / NASA (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) I'm going to stop right here for a moment and mention something that really puts a burr under my saddle: People who claim that NASA and all those other agencies are lying to cover up the "fact" that the earth is flat. They are stupid. That's right, I said it!  Anyone with a lick of

Fossil Excitement Level: Massive

Image
On numerous occasions, secular scientists use words like exciting  as a cover for when discoveries threaten their deeply-held beliefs. It seems that such things are uttered by cosmologists as well as paleontologists. Oops, they did it again. Paleontologists found a fossil of a critter related to the modern aquatic animals in the phylum Cnidaria. From the report,  Auroralumina attenboroughii seems to have been quickly buried by a sweeping deluge of volcanic ash caused by the Genesis Flood. This upsets their notions of when modern animals first evolved. Cnidarians, NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Secularists have a heap of trouble dealing with the Cambrian explosion in the first place. Now this thing pops up 20 million Darwin years before the Cambrian explosion, so they have to evosplain it away while calling it "exciting." Well, it's exciting for biblical creationists as well, but for very different reaso

A Cyclic Universe Cannot Exist, Genesis Affirmed Again

Image
A spell back, we looked at how secular cosmogonists and cosmologists want to bring back the oscillating universe , also called cyclic and even bouncing universe. There was a Big Bang and inflation, it expands, then slows, collapses in, lather, rinse, repeat. Those owlhoots are still gnawing on that bone, but as discussed a few times, there are secularists who are not content to go with the flow. A couple of physicists decided to examine things their ownselves. They pulled back the reins and hollered, "Whoa!" Universe and Genesis, Bible page from Pxhere  mixed with  NASA / ESA image (usage does not imply endorsement) The biblical account of creation is consistent with the laws of science. (Indeed, Genesis 1:1 is where they are first manifest.) The Creator is the First Cause, but the oscillating universe cannot happen because of that pesky ol' Second Law of Thermodynamics. It indicates all that universe bouncing they propose will stop. Thermodynamics was brought up before

Carbon-14: Not Much Good Anymore

Image
Radiocarbon (Carbon-14) dating is not the thing that believers in deep time use to affirm that Earth is old. This is a common mistake. Instead, C-14 is used to get a handle on the age of something organic. C-14 atoms are unstable, and their therapy is to break down into nitrogen-14, which is a random process (for more on how it works, see " Carbon-14 Dating — Understanding the Basics "). Since C-14 does not last a huge amount of time, it has been somewhat useful to approximate the ages of some things. It is helpful to corroborate it with historical artifacts. Charcoal is almost entirely carbon, Pixabay / Rudy and Peter Skitterians Carbon-14 itself is affected by conditions on Earth. Nuclear bomb experiments decades ago made big changes, but also gave scientists some calibration. However, that is dissipating. In addition, carbon dioxide from fossil fuel emissions is hindering the effectiveness of carbon-14. This will be problematic for old-Earth advocates, who are still deali

The Merneptah Stele and Ancient Israel

Image
Look at that, they have a stele — whatever that is. I had to look up that word. A stele  is an ancient monument that was put up for to commemorate various important occasions. They were sometimes made of wood. A stone stele was a big slab engraved with writing, so it was obviously too much trouble to make for casual reasons. The Merneptah Stele was established by Egyptians to celebrate several military victories, and it also mentions military victories over Judah. So who what was Merneptah the pharaoh? Merneptah Stele, Wikimedia Commons / Onceinawhile ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ), enhanced It is interesting and useful when artefacts corroborate biblical history, but our faith is not established by evidence. Nor is it destroyed by the apparent lack of evidence. On a related subject, see " Lack of Evidence, Lack of Faith ." Ancient Egypt did not follow modern practices of laying out history. Some of it was...truly bizarre, a fact acknowledged by secularists as well as Bible believers. Som

That Helpful Magnetic Field of Earth

Image
The magnetosphere of the earth is, in a way, a simple but profound testimony to the Master Engineer. As science progresses, we are learning more about the various ways it is essential for survival. There are also some surprises about it that have come to light. It is huge. But then, so is the Earth, so it would have to be. Space is a dangerous place, full of cosmic radiation from the solar wind (plasma and charged particles from the sun) as well as galactic radiation from parts of our own galaxy. Without our force shield, life could not exist. Earth's magnetosphere, NASA / Goddard / Aaron Kaase (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) In addition, the magnetic field is decaying at a known rate. Calculating backward, it should have been gone long ago and Earth would be subjected to all those destructive forces. Believers in deep time know this and try to find rescuing devices, but they can provide no plausible evidence for their speculations. The magnetic field also show

Darwinism and Lazy Science

Image
It has been shown many times here and in other places that evolutionary thinking hinders science, and has actually been harmful to medical science. A large part of the problem is how they presuppose atoms-to-atheist evolution and build on that, and most cling to their faith when evidence is contrary to evolution. This mindset gave us "junk" DNA, vestigial organs, incomplete research, bad logic, unethical behavior in the secular science industry, and other problems. To be blunt, slapping evolutionary terminology in something is a science stopper. Even worse, this can easily make researchers lazy and careless. Darwin caricature from one of the  Vanity Fair  publications, 1871, modified at  Pixlr Indeed, it is rare to find a science article, whether for general readers or more academic, that does not throw in praise to evolution. Most of the time those are both unnecessary and detract from an otherwise good story. Many times, Evolution has been made into a decision-making deity!

Fossilized Nervous Systems Support Genesis Flood

Image
The Cambrian explosion, that huge variety of organisms that appeared suddenly and without transitional forms, has troubled evolutionists since Charles Darwin. They have tried to find rescuing devices, but those fall as flat as the fossils. A section of the Cambrian is known for well-preserved fossils. It is increasingly common to find extreme details of delicate areas preserved, and this includes eyes, brains, and paths of the nervous system. Several specimens of a critter called Stanleycaris  made both creationists and evolutionists prick up their ears and take notice. Stanleycaris hirpex , Wikimedia Commons / Junnn11 ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ), background modified Secular paleontologists have been disputing the "head problem" of arthropods for quite a spell. They can't agree on how the heads go together, and how to make it all look good so Darwin will smile. The whole preservation thing strongly exemplifies rapid burial during the global Genesis Flood. Evolutionists reported a s

Amazing Abilities — Creation, not Evolution

Image
Most people have heard about or even seen people with amazing abilities, going far beyond stunts or amusing tricks. There are human calculators, people with brilliance that they use to earn doctorates and very young ages, exceptional musicians, and more. Many skills such as music can be enhanced with practice, but other people seem to be born with them. Some folks have talent, but cannot reach certain levels even after practicing every day for years. W.A. Mozart's family was modest in talent, but in his almost thirty-six years of life, he composed over 800 pieces. Sergei Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto is considered one of the most technically difficult to perform, but people like Yuja Wang do it impressively. It says a lot about her, and also about the composer himself. Violin concertos are not exactly easy, either. Pianist Yuja Wang (image enhanced), Flickr / eXploration Etoile ( CC BY 2.0 ) How could they evolve, and for what purpose? While Darwin's disciples may ev

Evolutionists Ruining Human Evolution

Image
Although it has been stated before, it needs to be repeated: Believers is particles-to-painter evolution believe that after man evolved, he was just a stupid brute. A secular miracle occurred that gradually gave humans intelligence but left apes incapable of rational thought. Because of their evolutionary and deep-time presuppositions, evolutionists are continually surprised at the brilliance of early man. It keeps happening "earlier than thought." (If y'all get a chance, watch some of the mini-series Ancient Top Ten  on the History Channel. People did some amazing stuff long, long ago.) So-called primitive people showed abstract thought, something else that sets us apart from apes. Bison painting, Cave of Altamira, WikiComm / Cave of Altamira and Paleolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) A couple of science writers who believe in Darwinism are spooking evolutionists in the corral. Cave art in Spain must have been made by Neanderthals, and it happened — wai

The Book of Daniel was not a Forgery

Image
What comes to mind when the prophet Daniel is mentioned? Perhaps some of the accounts many of us learned as children, such as his account of his friends in the fiery furnace, eating veggies, or his own experience in the den of lions. How about Belshazzar's blasphemous feast on his last night as a ruler, which prompted the expression, "The writing on the wall?" Then there are those prophecies... The Bible has come under attack for centuries for various reasons, especially its historical reliability. Materialists act from their presuppositions that there is no God and are no miracles. There can be no prophesy, nosiree! The book of Daniel is rejected by them and liberal "Christian scholars" for similar reasons. Belshazzar's Feast , Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, 1635 Why is it that people profess to be Christians, but try to tear down the foundations of their faith and destroy the faith of others? A simple way to reject the contents of Daniel's book is to

Birds Tear Down Evolution Tales

Image
A few days back, I was talking with Trevor "Red" Schnapper about how the hands at the Darwin Ranch are flighty about birds. Red told me about some new Just-So Stories. Evolutionists are usually unable to break out of their framework so they can conduct real science. Charles Darwin had his idea about a Tree of Life with everything developing from simpler life forms and branching out. That concept is just plain wrong , and some evolutionists are rejecting it. Several examples of the useless Tree of Life come from studying birds. Hoatzin, Flickr / Carine06 ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) That punk-rock chicken called the hoatzin, down South America way, wreaks havoc with Darwin's Tree. Like the platypus, it cannot be successfully classified and has long been a problem for evolutionists . Place it on one branch of the Tree and it clumsily (they're not good flyers) moves to another one. Evolutionists also cannot determine how it reached its current living quarters. Another weird tale is

Learning from Bad Papers in Sedimentology

Image
Everyone here knows what sediment is, right? "You mean getting emotional about the past, like 'I'm Getting Sedimental Over You', Cowboy Bob?" A couple of letters off, that song and what you're describing is Sentimental . Sediment is the dirt, small stones, and so on that are transported by rivers. When they are moving quickly, they carry more and heavier stuff, and when the water slows, things drop out of it. Come on, you all knew that even though I over-simplified it. A branch of geology is dedicated to the study of all this and has the sensible name of sedimentology . Sediment-laden water from a tributary, entering the clearer Chattahoochee River / USGS , Public Domain (endorsement of site contents not implied) We have seen numerous times that secular journals and the secular peer review process have numerous difficulties. Some of the peer review problems are from Darwinists consistently living the morality of their worldview and doing what they feel makes t

Webb Telescope Unhelpful to Deep Time

Image
Secular cosmologists and cosmogonists continually look for evidence of deep time out there, thataway , to support their preconceptions. Probes to other planets in our solar system provided data that surprised them. Later probes astonished them, as planets, moons, and so on did not act billions of years old. They also have a fondness for bigger and better telescopes. The Hubble was expected to provide insights into the Big Bang and extra-solar planets. The Big Bang busted, and exoplanets are consistently uncooperative in providing possible homes for life. Cartwheel Galaxy, NASA , ESA, CSA, STScI (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The next big thing was the ambitious James Web Space Telescope. There were many things for this expensive project that could have gone wrong, but it's there and working just fine. (Some people expected images that would only be useful to scientists because it worked on infrared, but those were adjusted for the human eye as well.) Even more

Disagreements on Dark Matter

Image
It amazes this child that sciency folks believe in things they cannot see or test, but dark matter is at the top of the list along with the Big Bang, cosmic and biological evolution, deep time, and all that good stuff. Creationists tend to reject dark matter because it is a rescuing device for the Big Bang. Also, it can only be inferred, not observed. When searching for images at NASA, I noticed that there were numerous articles where scientists were amazed because the supposed dark matter did not behave in a manner that secular cosmologists expect. Some are getting on the prod about how it constantly defies explanation, and are proposing a replacement. Hubble image of galaxies, NASA , ESA, & J. Lotz & HFF Team (STScI) (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) A few secular cosmologists believe in Modified Newtonian Dynamics. It is thought that this approach to science offers better explanations for what is observed that trying to use dark matter. Of course, the majo

Possible Location of Sodom from Genesis 19

Image
People may wonder why creationists discuss archaeology so often, since it does not seem to have any bearing on creation evidence. While archaeology does not have direct  application to the creation account, it provides useful evidence used for creation science. It also supports biblical history. Archaeology is a relatively young science, obviously having inherent difficulties because of the time involved. E.g., some places are thousands of years old, possibly buried in sand, people have built homes or cities on sites of interest. When something like the location of Sodom and Gomorrah of Genesis 18-19 is announced, people tend to take notice. Landscape with the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah / Joachim Patinir , 1520 Sodom was not just a hick town, but rather a region that included a large city, its sister city Gomorrah, and several other cities. Because of the tremendous amount of time, ideas as to its location that have been proposed for its location are conflicting. Here we conside

Engineering Plant Communication

Image
Before we get into this, some discussion is necessary. I have become much more circumspect regarding the use of material from the Institute for Creation Research. The main reason is their vehement denial that natural selection exists , and also their Continuous Environmental Tracking model. Biblical creationists, like other scientists, have models and disagreements among themselves. Some creationists dislike the CET model, which is a work in progress. I am not convinced that I need to reject it and delete all the other posts I have done over the years about it. Rocks (pareidolia, see the face in the rock?) and plants, Unsplash / Cowboy Bob Sorensen However, the post featured below claims to have support for CET. In this case, I think the author is unconvincing. The discussion about how new studies on plants reveal design from an engineering perspective is interesting. Therefore, the article is presented for your consideration. As science and technology develop, things are far less simp

Yellowstone 2022 Flooding and Rethinking Deep Time

Image
Something that this child does not get weary of saying is never underestimate the power of water ! Videos of people trying to drive through flash floods and getting trapped when their cars are swept away, mudslides causing destruction, and more should warn people. Yellowstone National Park (the first ever, from 1872) was an example of quick flooding in June, 2022. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths (that I could find reported). There was great deal of damage, but repair efforts were undertaken and things are much better now. Uniformitarian geologists have been rethinking their beliefs lately. Yellowstone N.P. north entrance road damage, National Park Service / Doug Kraus (usage does not imply endorsement) A report said this flooding was a "once in a thousand year event" or "once a century flood, which is silly because nobody was there to see previous big floods. Secular scientists are finally comparing Yellowstone's fossil forests with mudflows from Mount

Fact and Fiction about Dinosaur-Age Bacteria

Image
American tax dollars through the National Science Foundation fund the JOIDES Resolution  research vessel, partly named after Captain James Cook's HMS Resolution  which was used for quite a bit of exploring. The acronym stands for Joint Oceanographic Institutions for Deep Earth Sampling . The ship is packed with scientists and crew, and they do quite a bit of drilling for ocean floor core samples. Since the research is international in scope, one particular journey was led by Japanese researchers and explored the South Pacific. What they discovered astonished them. JOIDES Resolution , WikiComm /  John Newcomb  ( CC BY 3.0 ), slightly enhanced They got themselves a passel of bacteria that were "sleeping", and were successfully awakened. (Unlike a predictable science fiction movie, they didn't turn everyone into evil monsters.) Here's where the secular old-earth paradigm kicks in. Those bacteria were in an area that they could not have reached without help.. Assuming

Wrong Ideas on the Origin of Polytheism

Image
Those of us who have been raised believing that there is only one God may find it difficult to comprehend that there are cultures that worship many. Animism  has multiple spirits that people pray to, which is seldom known in the Western world. Polytheism  is the belief in many gods. Some folks claim that the global flood story in the  Gilgamesh  epic poem was copied by the Hebrews. It is to laugh. Those gods were like children who gained power, squabbling with each other, messing with humans, and so on. Looking at mythologies, we see that many groups were polytheistic. The Assembly of the Gods , Jacopo Zucchi 1576, WikiComm  It strikes this child as interesting that the word avatar  is used frequently, often associated with a picture to represent oneself online. In religions like Hinduism, an avatar is when one of their gods decides to show up on Earth for a spell. People with a worldview based in atheistic materialism denigrate Judaism and Christianity, obviously because of the belie

The Evolutionary Speciation Battle Rages On

Image
Regular readers might recollect that I wrote about a dustup at the Darwin Ranch, yonder out Folly Road near Deception Pass. Evolutionists cannot agree on how to define species , and it is unfortunate that they reject the superior taxonomy of the biblical kind  used in creation science (see " Coming to Terms with Species and Biblical Kinds "). Speciation occurs when similar living things can interbreed. But the squabble about defining species applies here as well. (After all, coyotes and dogs can interbreed .) The Master Engineer designed living things to adapt, survive, and reproduce. Darwin caricature from one of the  Vanity Fair publications, 1871, modified at Pixlr Brown bears and polar bears interbreed, so does that mean they are separate species? There is disagreement. Using molecular clock data has too many problems and is unreliable, so that won't stop the battle. Galápagos finches are often cited as evidence that Papa Darwin was right, but... Then we have the famo
