Adoption and DNA Surprises

Image
The science of genetics, pioneered by Gregor Mendel (peas be upon him), shows that the differences we see in people are from a relatively small number of genetic variations. One may think that people from opposite parts of the globe would have radically different DNA. Nope. What is featured below contains an interesting story about how a Christian couple adopted two children from Asia. There were several instances of Providence involved, as well as love. In addition, this family agreed to have some DNA testing — with surprising results. Family in sunset, Pixabay / Gerd Altmann The parents are of European descent and the adopted children are from East Asia. The differences in the mitochondrial DNA tests were surprisingly small. This fits with what they Bible tells us: We are all descendants of Adam and Eve, and that there are no races. We also see even more evidence that the world was created recently. At some point in your life, you’ve probably wondered about your heritage. . . . Thank...

Eats like a Bird?

Image
Saying that someone eats like a bird indicates they do not eat much at all, butthe saying has no basis in truth. Some birds eat huge amounts of food, relatively speaking and depending on the kind of bird . Try being like a chickadee and eating 35 percent of your body weight. Not happening. Different birds have different needs; they were designed for variety. Some like seeds, others like carrion (interesting ecological niche to be on the Clean-Up Committee), insects, and as expected, worms. There are some that have surprising items on their menus. Red-bearded Bee-eater, Wikimedia Commons / JJ Harrison ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Bee-eaters have a way of rending stingers ineffective while feasting. This means that they don't have to deal with the venom that should kill them! Then there's the roadrunner that has a taste for rattlesnakes... These show the work of the Creator, not Darwinism. But are the diets and dining of birds really so inconsequential and insignificant? As ICR’s Dr. Frank ...

Sauropod Storytelling is Evoporn

Image
Rusty Swingset is working with his masters in the secular science industry to award a prize. It would be a visit to Deception Pass and the Darwin Ranch itself. (This child thinks that Dr. P. Martin Sander wants to win it and do horseback riding, mayhaps see the Winkie Guards and their supervisor, Lisa Myworries.) He did a tremendous favor to science itself by writing about how sauropod dinosaurs evolved, and he made it open access. Be still, my beating heart! We can learn what Darwin's acolytes know. Brontosaurus, Flickr /  Chobist  ( CC BY 2.0 ) What does this boon to the betterment of science actually say? Words related to  evolve  are used excessively and without need. (I reckon it makes the material sound more sciency and all that good stuff.)  Part of my sarcasm is because there is actually no evidence of dinosaur evolution, but a passel of myths . What do we learn from Dr. Sander? Where is the logic, for crying out loud? Does he succeed in making evol...

Giving Attention to Evolutionists and Atheists

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Materialists dominate the media with naturalistic propaganda for atoms-to-atheist evolution. Not only that, internet atheists try to bushwhack Christians and creationists, demanding equal time on our sites, social(ist) media, and so on — but not extending the same courtesy to us. Secularists have their peer-reviewed scientific journals, but biblical creationists and Intelligent Design proponents are not allowed to present scientific information for their views in them. It may be baffling to some creationists looking on that we present their own words instead of shunning them. What  is the deal ? Christians cannot hide or shield their children indefinitely from atheism and evolution. Instead, we must face it and learn how to properly deal with it. I'll allow that arguing with atheists is a difficult thing, and there are several reasons. One is that many professing Christians are woefully uninformed of what the Bible teaches, nor do they know what and why ...

The Holocaust and Darwinian Scientists

Image
People are able to analyze in detail the numerous records, narratives, and all sorts of documents to learn about the evils of Nazism. They may think that Adolf Hitler dreamed up all sorts of ideas and implemented them when he came to power, but that is not the case. No dictator, rescuer, or movement on a large scale ever happens spontaneously or in a vacuum. The groundwork has already been laid. Charles Darwin did not invent evolution, but capitalized on ideas of his grandfather and others, all the way back to ancient Greek philosophers and Hindus. Hitler was also an opportunist, and Darwin was a big part of the Nazi plan. Auschwitz Gateway Sign, Pixabay / Krzysztof Pluta People are enamored with celebrities, and that is abundantly clear in the modern Western world. They seldom have knowledge about the subjects they rant about, and fans unthinkingly embrace whatever is being promoted. Similarly, scientists and intellectuals espoused Nazism even before Hitler became a part of it. (That...

Babylon, the Tower, and very Ancient History

Image
Try a different kind of relativity. Kingston, New York has a corner in town where four buildings exist that were built around the time of the Revolutionary War. Quite a bit older than apartment complexes in the area. St. Augustine was established in 1565. Pretty old, but that would make someone from Europe yawn because they have some very old areas. Rome, Italy is thought to have been founded in 753 BC. Do we have a winner? Not yet. Take a look at Jerusalem, that  is old! But then...Babylon. Tower of Babel  by Lucas van Valckenborch, 1594 Babylon is the oldest city. Period. The Bible is the primary historical document, and Genesis tells us that after the global Flood, people weren't interested in obeying God and dispersing around the world. Nimrod was a bad dude  (even worse than Corn Pop ). He was a tyrant, organizer, city founder, and built the Tower of Babel. Nimrod was the Devil's quockerwodger . We have the Bible as history, and there are other historical and archaeo...

The Evasive Okapi

Image
Some critters are confusing, plain and simple. Especially for a believer in universal common descent evolution. There is the platypus (of course), wombat , hoatzin , aardvark , and more. An animal that is not so well known is called the okapi (oh-KOP-ee). This beastie caused serious confusion in the beginning. Harry Johnston was intrigued by reports of a creature in Africa, so he wanted to take a gander at it himself. His efforts took a setback when he was told that prints were found, but they did not match up with what he was expecting to see , so he did not lead the group on a search. (That kind of blinkered thinking hinders evolutionists even now.) The story surrounding the search for and discovery of the okapi would make a great movie. Okapi, Flickr / cuatrok77 ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) The okapi wants to be left alone. Also, it is not widely distributed. Those are two reasons it was unknown outside of that part of Africa for so long. Based on skin samples and descriptions from the native...

The Missing Microbes of Mars

Image
Secularists are still gnawing on that bone of extraterrestrial life, and they have not given up on Martian life. Most naturalists know that there is no chance for abiogenesis on Earth, so they look for it elsewhere, wasting our tax money in their efforts to show that the Creator is unnecessary — or does not even exist. Apparently nobody is holding out hope for finding signs of complex life forms or an advanced civilization in the distant past; they seem to think it would make Earth unremarkable. Microbes are a different matter. Mars, NASA / JPL-Caltech (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Although not advanced life, microbes on Mars (or anywhere else up yonder) are thought by naturalists to support their beliefs if they are ever found. There are numerous fantasies masquerading as science about the unobserved distant past of Mars, including how it was a really swell place. Building a Just-So Story upon another, mayhaps there was microbial life underground. Yeah! That...

Dinosaurs Getting Makeovers

Image
My prospector friend Stormie Waters and Ruby Slippers wanted a break from working on the upcoming nuptials for Ruby, so they stopped by my spread. We were talking about this and that, when what to our wondering eyes should appear but Rusty Swingset. Rusty is the foreman at the Darwin Ranch, and he even brought his lady friend Jacqueline Hyde (who was not herself again). Like I have said before, creationists and evolutionists can meet up, visit a spell, then shake hands and part friendly. They were in the area, and Rusty wanted some firearms advice. Velociraptor skeletal cast, WikiComm / Jens Lallensack ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) After we talked about that and cleaned his shootin' iron, discussions turned into just chin music. My ears pricked up like a cat's when Jacqueline idly mentioned that Rusty was helping evolutionary scientists give makeovers to dinosaurs. While paleontologists can learn a great deal from fossils and skeletal remains, there are serious limitations. Some fossils ar...

Animal Rights and Criminality

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  It seems reasonable to assume that most thinking people would laugh at the idea of animals being granted human rights and personhood status, but it is happening (for one example, see " An Elephant is now a Person? "), and is increasing. ( Even rivers are getting personhood status !) Non-humans are being given rights that include the ability to have legal representation — to file lawsuits. It is common to file on behalf of people  with reduced mental capabilities since they are human, after all. As much as Basement Cat had a unique personality and awareness of many things, she did not show advanced cognitive abilities. She did not know catness . Horses fighting, Pexels / Kenzhar Sharap The article that inspired this one pointed out that certain cognitive tests were given to animals to see if they were self-aware. Interesting, that would mean that only the most rudimentary tests would be used. Some can recognize themselves in mirrors. Some cannot, so tha...

Evolutionary Word Salad for Powered Flight

Image
When using an airplane, people know that the plane did not just happen by chance. It had to be designed by engineers, tested, certified for safety, and so on. They know that there are requirements for it to get off the ground and back down safely. Meanwhile, believers in universal common descent assume evolution to be true and then work from there; it is a given. It is not questioned by most secular scientists. Some people want to know how powered flight in four lifeforms came to be. Owl in Flight, PxHere Time and time again, evolutionists simply provide evoporn. The phrase word salad  is used to describe nonsensical speech by people who have certain mental illnesses, but it is now used in other ways. It is accurately describes how evolutionists "explain" things many times. The last few posts on this weblog have illustrated the lack of empirical science and logical thinking of evolutionists based on their worldview. Admitting the Creator engineered powered flight in several l...

Secular Scientists Unable to Explain Mongolia Dinosaur Graveyard

Image
Not so long ago, we discussed how secular scientists were baffled by a mass burial site over Nevada way for decades . Their latest effort at explaining what was observed was so bad, it was insulting to thinking people. What about this  Sinornithomimus dongi herd in Inner Mongolia? Some bones were discovered years ago. A team did some excellent detailed work at excavation. The evidence led into the base of a hill, and they retrieved over twenty-five of the critters. They were in the same rock layer, facing the same direction, and were well preserved. Sinornithomimus Scale, Wikimedia Commons / Slate Weasel (PD) Biblical creationists can easily explain what is observed through Genesis Flood models, including how they were trying to escape, the poses of the deceased, the fact that their conditions testifies to rapid burial, and even how this herd was all juveniles. As in other cases, secularists are locked into their worldviews, presupposing naturalism and not even considering the ...

Underestimating So-Called Lower Animals

Image
Occasionally, it is helpful to state the obvious: Just because a wild animal is cute does not mean it is safe to approach. There are hundreds of octopus species, and they do not mean harm for humans — but it happens by accident or if they feel threatened. And watch out for that smaller blue-ringed octopus with deadly venom . Moving on, the octopus shows a great deal of intelligence and ingenuity. Sometimes that is to the dismay of researchers and keepers of aquariums. Octopus, Unsplash / Diane Picchiottino While designations of higher  and lower  life forms is based on fundamentally-flawed evolutionary concepts, humans are made in the image of God. We can make sophisticated music, detailed communication, science, mathematics, and more. Even so, octopuses and other creatures show remarkable abilities that reveal the handiwork of the Master Engineer. Don't underestimate them. Oh, and those suckers? They get a huge amount of sensory information from them. The idea that animals ge...

Stars Killing Offspring Planets

Image
According to the most popular theory for solar system formation, stars are essentially the parents of planets. Staying with the secular model, stars act up quite a bit in their youthful exuberance and do great damage to planets that are trying to evolve into something habitable. Rocky planets (like the first four of our solar system) might not be exterminated if they can fire up their magnetic fields. Earth has one that provides a shield from solar radiation and such, but it is unlikely for other planets under their conditions. Hubble finds blue star cluster, NASA  / ESA, / L. Bianchi (usage does not imply endorsement) Researchers looked at these problems in great detail and realized that the possibility of habitable extrasolar planets has been greatly diminished. They even tried an ludicrous "belatedly habitable" story that eats its own face. When secularists keep trying to deny the reality of the intelligent design of the Creator and of the young universe, they keep wastin...

Bird Beak Evolution Upended

Image
Riekert Darkens of the Darwin Ranch is an evolutionary astrologer and part-time carnival worker who gives lectures in town. It is not a large town, but has supplies that ranchers and folks like me need. When someone is going to give a talk, people want the entertainment. Darkens tried to evosplain away a problem. It has long been a dogma of Darwinism that bird beaks evolved from fused upper beaks (they could not be moved). Then hinged beaks evolved, so that is what modern birds have. Emus, ostriches, and others that have fused upper beaks are deemed "primitive." Because evolution. Emu, RGBStock / CMC13 , edited at remove bg and Pixlr Darkens couldn't explain how a fossil of a bird with a hinged beak was discovered, and that it caused serious ripples throughout bird evolution. Again, speculations by evolutionists about the distant past based on their assumptions do not replace the truth about the Creator. Science is dynamic. What was considered incontrovertible for decade...

Ichthyosaur Burial Explanations Getting Worse

Image
As said before, Question Evolution Day (12 February) is multifaceted. In addition to speech and academic freedoms, it is an encouragement to get people to ride up on the hill to look at the bigger picture — and think . Folks cannot simply accept the assertions of scientists regarding historical science and origins. There should be a passel of red flags dropping when reading explanations about a group of ichthyosaurs that were fossilized. One flag is that secularists have been attempting to explain it for decades. The latest effort is...truly bizarre; that should be a red flag all by itself. Shastasaurus altispinus (ichthyosaur), WikiComm / Dmitry Bogdanov ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) On a quick side note, people group critters like these, mastodons, pterosaurs, and others with dinosaurs. It makes things easier when issuing postage stamps and the Bag-O-Plastic-Toy-Figures. And casual conversation. Ichthyosaurs came in various shapes and sizes, and there are numerous types. Some rivaled (and poss...

A Biblical View of Transhumanism

Image
People may have a simplistic view of transhumanism, possibly thinking it is just enhancements like prosthetics and pacemakers. It is actually quite a bit more. Essentially, it is rooted in evolutionary thinking. Evolution is being actively helped along in this way also, but it is not just enhancements. People want to improve their lives and even extend them. They push God aside and implement ongoing creations of humans in an image they choose. There are several surprising moral considerations. Cyborg woman, Pixabay / Julius H . Who am I anymore? Where does the hardware end and I begin, or is it the other way around? I remember having skin...I think. Maybe the memories are from a glitch in the system. After all, I know that I'm very, very old. Friends and family — those concepts are obsolete. My questions went unasked. What have I evolved into? I don't think it was such a great idea after all.  You can be a part of Question Evolution Day , no charge, no sign-up! The angst writt...

Empty Assertions of Frog Pattern Evolution

Image
Propaganda and bad logic seem to be increasing more and more from purveyors of tadpole-to-tiger evolution. Funding is provided to research evolution, but study on it: How is that beneficial outside of keeping the circle unbroken of funding evolutionary science? Although the secular science industry maintains that evolution is essential for science, especially medicine, we have seen that is false. Scientists study frog patterns. Since it involves the science of genetics that was initiated by Gregor Mendel (peas be upon him), there may still be practical value. Otherwise, it's more evolutionary study for its own sake. Striped Marsh Frog on Carpet (cropped), Flickr / Ursula Skjonnemand ( CC BY-NC 2.0 ) Mayhaps you've noticed that among the patterns on frogs and their kin are also stripes. Lots of them. Darwin's disciples presuppose that the stripes evolved, and that evolution is the only possible answer. Those are not logical ideas. They also neglect to question if stripes an...

Evolutionists Wasting Time and Money

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Up yonder near Deception Pass lies the Darwin Ranch, but if you go without an invite, watch out because the Winkie Guards get a mite irritable about trespassing. An exception is when the ranch hands feel generous and share the peyote with them. We have seen in numerous posts that evolutionary thinking has actually been harmful to medical science. Such thinking has been a waste of time and money in other areas of science as well (for example, see " The Absence of Alien Contact "). It is a vexation to see supposedly educated folks get paid for doing nothing useful. Modified from a photograph at  Pixnio Tinhorns like Bill Nye the Leftist Propaganda Guy and others claim that science cannot advance without evolution, but that falsehood is easily refuted. Still, they proclaim it. There is a "meme" on Fakebook at Evolution is a Lie of a game show contestant being asked, "Which branch of the sciences has Darwinian evolution advanced the most sin...

The Genesis Flood, Doggerland, and the Ice Age

Image
In uniformitarian beliefs, Earth is billions of years old and most geological events happened slowly. With their deep-time assumptions, there were multiple ice ages in the distant past that did not leave evidence of their occurrences. The so-called last ice age is what is usually discussed. Sea levels were lower for a good part of the Ice Age. Land bridges connected many parts of the world , such as Australia to New Guinea, Alaska to Siberia, the Weald-Artois Anticline connecting Britain and France, etc. People and animals traveled. That last one is the area where Doggerland was above water for a spell. Doggerland, Wikimedia Commons / Polaris999 (PD) Although there are speculations about places and events in the past, Doggerland was real. Artifacts are being found even now. Sea levels were lower, but the ice sheets melted and the levels rose again. Doggerland was submerged. The land bridge connecting Britain and France was destroyed. All y'all gotta stay put, c'est la vie. Se...

Biomimetics and Woodpecker Brain Cushions

Image
Here in Upstate New York (a dismissive name because The City is the center of the universe, so the rest of the state is Upstate), we like our feathered visitors. A few kinds of woodpeckers and their kin show up in our area. We see the Downy much more than the Hairy , and my wife has a special fondness for the Red-bellied . Although in the area,  Pileated Woodpeckers are rare for us to see. Creationists point out that woodpeckers are excellent examples of the Creator's handiwork and refute Darwinism. They are also involved in biomimetics. Red-bellied Woodpecker, Pexels / Hal Moran For some reason, people like sports where others hit, slam, run into, and do other harmful things to each other. This messes with the participants' heads — literally. All of those impacts bounce the brain around and causes serious damage when done repeatedly. (Sometimes a serious enough jolt can do irreparable damage.) The best way to stop brain injury due to boxing is simply not to do it, but what a...
