Ticks, Lyme Disease, and Creation

Image
The post " On the Origin of New Diseases " linked to an article that discussed, from a scientific and biblical perspective, how and why we are seeing new diseases. The article featured below is companion to it. Scoffers often claim that since bad things exist today, there is no loving God and that these are evidence for evolution. Some things such as ticks, Lyme disease, and the so-called brain-eating amoeba  are a challenge for creationists, we try to answer questions from our presuppositions — like our secular counterparts. Female black-legged tick, CDC /  Jim Gathany (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Yes, many things are bad today , but that does not necessarily mean God created them the way they are now. (Darwinists evosplain such things with the vacuous "It evolved" non-answer .) Like everything else, ticks have mutations. Comparing them to mites, ticks may have originally been plant eaters and decomposers in the original very-good creation. T

Further Whale Evolution Deception

Image
Proponents of universal common descent evolution have a passel of stories to tell, but they have nasty habits of circular reasoning (assuming evolution to prove evolution), neglecting basic facts, and making a passel of assumptions. When scientists say that they have evidence, look for examples. Anti-creationists take the material without using critical thinking skills or asking questions, then tell biblical creationists, "Proof of whale evolution! Take that , creationists!" Not hardly! Watch for evolution of the gaps (they hope information will be found) and speculations. Freeimages /  Kym Parry The just-so story of whale evolution goes back to when life supposedly evolved in the oceans, had innumerable beneficial mutations and natural selection, then something took a notion to go back into the sea, had additional mutations and natural selection, and out popped whales. Latest tweaks for the story involve speculations about how nasal passages moved during evolution and that t

Reasons Creationists Critique Evolution

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  Many years ago, I asked someone to criticize an article I had written. He replied, "No, but I will critique it." Then I learned that criticize has a connotation of negativity, but a critique can be positive and constructive . The term constructive criticism  is often mere criticism and not constructive. While a critique is most commonly known for art and literature, it is also useful when discussing science and writing papers. Critiques help determine if claims are supported or where the material is lacking. Creationists critique evolutionary material. Pexels / fauxels (seriously?), modified with FotoSketcher In my article on debate challenges , I emphasized some things learned from Dr. James R. White. In a true  debate, there is structure and some amount of graciousness. Debaters work on the material presented instead of taking cheap shots at the people. (I'll allow that it's very difficult to remain clinical when discussing deceivers and v

Bat Echolocation and the Master Engineer

Image
Purveyors of molecules-to-mammals evolution tend to get on the prod when creationists and the Intelligent Design folks point out things that clearly indicate intelligent design. (One example is  cellular machinery .) Their dogma is that things only appear  designed. To be blunt, that is galactically stupid. We frequently find examples of the Master Engineer's brilliance and of specified complexity, and to keep saying they only appear designed is cultlike. Or maybe mental illness. A new example is echolocation and the speed of sound. USFWS / Ann Froschauer  via Pixnio (none of these endorse site contents) Bats have always been recalcitrant toward the desires of evolutionists, as the fossil record shows that they have remained bats through millions of Darwin years . Now it has been demonstrated that bats are hardwired for echolocation, and they do not adapt well to changes in environments. That reveals design, not evolution and environment. Bats have the amazing ability to accurately

When those Worlds Collide

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  Once again, I had an inspiration from an unlikely source when my mind wandered off all by its lonesome. I have no idea why I was on the rabbit trail, but I was looking up When Worlds Collide . The book by that name was written by Philip Wylie and Edwin Balmer in 1933. Bookstores have it, and used copies can be had. Try your library. A movie based on the book was made in 1951, and that can also be found. Pixabay /  Neypomuk-Studios The genre of science fiction has a dilemma: Keep the science in it, or skip reality to garner more sales. Some manage to balance storytelling with science and speculative science, but willing suspension of disbelief is still necessary. Not as much as comic book superhero stuff, though. Sometimes people want to shut off reason so they can have fun, or mayhaps guys want to look at Scarlett Johannsson. Discourteous Celestial Objects In the book version of When Worlds Collide , two rogue planets are going to make life on Earth a mite diff

Genetics Further Supports Biblical Timeline

Image
Goo-to-geneticist evolution is usually portrayed as settled science with a few kinks to be worked out, and yee haw boy howdy, new discoveries support it. In reality, not much in science is settled. Evolutionists are constantly slapping leather with each other over important details. People accept the views popularized in the secular science media, so it may come as a shock that the dominant  Out of Africa (or Recent African Origin ) model is disputed and has several variations. It also has serious flaws . FreeDigitalPhotos /  sheelamohan After the RAO model was galloping along, DNA sequencing caused several problems and four main subdivisions were developed. Those didn't solve the problem of mitochondrial and  Y-chromosome genetic clocks that were refuting it. Creation scientists did a passel of work that secular scientists were neglecting, and found that data corresponds to the biblical population models going back to Babel. That brings up the unthinkable to secularists: more str

Americans Succumbing to Evolutionary Indoctrination

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  A great deal of noise was heard all through Deception Pass, and was even noticed all the way down to Stinking Lake. The hands at the Darwin Ranch were celebrating, and foreman Rusty Swingset even bought both fire water and cheese curls. This was in response to the news that people in the formerly United States embrace evolution. (At least, to some extent.) The question in a survey to which they responded was a mite disingenuous. Efforts at indoctrination were having the desired results. It seems to this child that there would be more of a push to get people educated in science, mathematics, and basic reading skills, since our academic achievements in those areas would satisfy the Greek philosopher Mediocrates . Also, was there a concerted effort to convince people to believe in actual, demonstrable science facts? Not hardly! No, it is more important to get people to believe in fish-to-fool evolution. The primary worldview in the secular science industry is mate

Secularists in a Pickle with Whopper Sand

Image
Way, way down south in the Lone Star State is a place called Brownsville (not to be confused with the Brownsville Station ). Travel a mite too far and you will reach the Rio Grande River. A couple hundred miles out East from Brownsville in the Gulf of Mexico is some intense oil drilling. This led to the discovery geologic puzzler of what is called the Whopper Sand as oil geologists are trained to expect something completely different than what was found. RGBStock /  Roger Kirby This Whopper Sand is extremely thick, and is too far offshore to make sense in a secular worldview. The most plausible explanation will not be found in naturalistic uniformitarian models. Biblical creation science Genesis Flood models make far more sense of what is observed. In the last three years, Shell Oil Company has made three significant discoveries in the Whopper Sand, a massive offshore Cenozoic sedimentary deposit in the Gulf of Mexico. These new finds further extend the oil production in the Whopper Sa

Flood Legends and the Biblical Narrative

Image
Unbelievers spread boilerplate criticisms of the Bible among each other, acting as if they had smoking gun refutations available. It is common to have misotheists refer to the Bible as "fairy tales" and "myths written by bronze age goat herders", but those claims are nonsense. Honest, intelligent people may wonder if mockers have actually read fairy tales, myths, and the biblical account. It is not necessary to consult a literary scholar to see the differences. We have a couple of articles on the Genesis Flood to consider. Storyteller  by Anker Grossvater, 1884 / Source:  Wikimedia Commons A spell back, we looked at three articles regarding some marked similarities in Flood legends of the Americas . What was interesting is that while there were absurdities and changes added over time, many had basic points in common with the Bible. This indicates that the true story became legends told by descendants of Noah and the families of his sons. There are claims that the Ge

The Purpose-Driven Darwinist

Image
It seems reasonable to assume that people who have been schooled, earned doctorates, and obtained jobs in the secular science industry would know about particles-to-paleontologist evolution would understand their own paradigm. While any area of science will have disagreements, evolutionists are as organized as ball bearings in a blender. They do not know how evolution works, forgetting that it is supposed to be blind, pitiless, and indifferent; teleology is  streng verboten . They appeal to purpose anyway. Mostly made at  PhotoFunia  (click for larger) Before we look at the misuse of the concept of evolution by those who should know better, let's take a look at how misotheists have a faulty understanding of the concept. As we have seen many times, those who are in rebellion against God will accept and repeat practically any platitude that seems to support their views. For example, a vehement misotheist who not only hates God, but is a bigot against Christians (especially biblical c

Darwinian Terrorism and False Gods

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  Today is September 11. Many of us remember the cowardly Islamic terrorist attacks that happened twenty years ago. This article is not intended to diminish the horror and sadness of that time, but will point out that those who serve false gods have committed acts of terror in totalitarian regimes. I was working in the receiving area of a large office supply store when someone came to us from the front area. He told us about the planes crashing into the towers and Pentagon, and said that we are at war. Mostly made at PhotoFunia , cropped This jasper had a weird sense of humor and I thought it was a sick joke. When I realized he wasn't kidding, I hurried to the nearest computer and went online. Pictures were not good, and then the internet was frozen for us. I couldn't grasp the enormity of the World Trade Center, and the fact that the Pentagon was hit alarmed me. Later, people watched far too much television. I was worried about my girl getting to wrapped

Brook Trout Extinction — Why Care?

Image
The noun  brook  is generally understood to mean a small stream or creek, but the verb is not in common usage nowadays. It is basically a synonym for tolerate . The fish known as the brook trout do not brook warm water very well. Supposedly, survival of the fittest is a law of science. Brown trout in that small Jabez Branch tributary  are doing fine, and don't care about the brook trout. Why should we? Besides, brook trout as a whole are not going extinct. Flicker / James St. John  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Before people start carping about my seemingly hard heart, it should be known that a view of let it die because of survival of the fittest and pleasing the puny evolution god Natural Selection is consistent with Darwinism. This happens on a large scale (such as eugenics) as well as a "law" of nature. If evolutionists want $1 million USD spent on that area for those fish, they are being inconsistent with their own worldview! Trying to help them is entirely consistent with a creat

The Non-Evolution of Consciousness

Image
Back in 1976, the late Bernie Kliban, famous for odd drawings including the "Cat" series , had a comic called People Humiliating a Salami . It is funny because inanimate objects do not have self-awareness. A computer does not get angry about what programs a user opens, and an MP3 player has no objection to repeating the same song a dozen times. Humans have self-awareness, and some animals have a bit. Scientists, like regular people, have wondered about the location and origin of consciousness and the soul . Credit: Pixabay /  Pete Linforth While it is a reasonable assumption, the mind is not the brain . The mind uses  the brain, and obviously, the mind cannot exactly work well if the brain is seriously injured or removed. Let's accept the idea of "the brain is the mind" for the sake of discussion. Materialists deny the spiritual nature of man as well as the Creator, so they attempt to explain things using evolution. An article in the July 2021  New Scientist  at

So Dinosaurs Were Fake All Along!

Image
There comes a time when everyone has to cowboy up and face the failings, and this is mine. It turns out that not only have many others and I been deceived, but I have been deceiving my readers in my misguided zeal. Dinosaurs never existed. Playtime is over. Now we get to more serious but still almost unbelievable material. Although I have heard of them, I never met someone who claimed that dinosaurs are not real. The reasons for thinking this get...truly bizarre. Unsplash / Katie Smith I have to stop for a moment and say that this post almost went to Biblical Creation and Evangelism . It ended up here because, although it has to do with theology, biblical creationists emphasize critical thinking skills. To believe the outrageous idea that dinosaurs were never real, one must believe conspiracy theories on an absurdity level of September 11 "truthers" and Flat-Earthers. In all three cases, thousands  of people would have to keep secrets very well, and not have consciences that

Stony Meteorites Stymie Secularists

Image
Using uniformitarian  ideas  (slow processes over long periods of time), secular scientists have tremendous difficulties explaining the origin of stony meteorites (chondrites). Those other meteorites contain a great deal of metal, while chondrites are made of fine-grained chondrules.  Secularists claim they provide clues to the origin of the solar system, but that is just whistling in the dark. There are several stories told around the campfires at the Darwin Ranch about where the solar system came from, and Sherwood Tellit spins a find yarn about the accretion theory  and chondrites. Image Credit: NASA / Bill Ingalls (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Since none of the theories about the origin of the solar system are plausible, scientists pick the best of the worst — the " best in field fallacy ". Then they confirm their biases and interpreting data to make them fit. (Meteorites are considered remnants from the formation of the solar system and less contami

Sheep Mummy and Dinosaur DNA

Image
When science is done properly, it ruins atoms-to-archaeologist evolution. While too many people are gullible and simply accept what "scientists say", others are suspicious when research halts after propaganda points are reached or inconvenient questions are raised. A mummified sheep was in the news. (No, it was not mummified by ancient Egyptians, awakened, and Brendan Fraser stopped its rampage.) Natural mummification occurred where the right conditions cause drying out with little or no decomposition. A sheep mummy leg was so well preserved, its DNA was sequenced. FreeDigitalPhotos /  tawatchai (modified with Clker clipart) While decay can be slowed under ideal conditions, it cannot be stopped. This raises obvious questions about DNA in fossils buried in the ground under typical conditions. DNA deteriorates and would be too broken down to be analyzed. Once again, evidence indicates recent creation. DNA that is “extremely well preserved” has been analyzed from a sheep mumm

Unsettlingly Following Settled Science

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  It is increasingly common to encounter phrases like, "Follow the science!" Well, first of all, science  is not an entity, so it cannot lead anyone anywhere. Darwin's disciples often claim that evolution has been proven, but science proves nothing . Evolutionists tacitly admit to their pagan mythology by treating  evolution  and Natural Selection  as decision-making entities when it suits their storytelling purpose.  They also jeer at Question Evolution Day with irrational remarks like, "Ya gonna have a Question Gravity Day, too?" Credit: CSIRO /  Frank Filippi  ( CC BY 3.0 ) Another horse apple they polish is, "Why don'tcha write up your evidence for creation and get it published in a legitimate peer-reviewed journal and win a Nobel Prize?" Come on, man! We've been over those things. So often, people claiming to follow the science are simply virtue signaling. Urging others to do the same can many times be an appeal to a
