Mammoth Mud in Waco

Image
Of course, mammoths were not around when Waco, Texas was established. Humans had not yet made the trek there, either. Anyway, now a building is over a dig site where mammoth bones were discovered. The place is now designated as  Waco Mammoth National Monument . A huge amount of mud buried Colombian mammoths, camels, and other critters. These mammoths were determined to live at one time in a large part of North and Central America. Something ruined their day mighty quick-like. Museum quality dig shelter, NPS Photo (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) What was found here is not evidence of the Genesis Flood. At least, not directly. Sediments from that Flood cover huge areas, often seen continuing on different continents. This mud was most likely from a flash flood during the Ice Age, both of which were subsequent to the global Flood. Hunters in the 1970s discovered mammoth bones exposed in sediments near the confluence of the Bosque and Brazos Rivers in north central Texa

Ice Age Megafloods and the Global Deluge

Sometimes it is necessary to use the expensive nine-syllable words. Uniformitarianism  is one of those that crop up in sites, posts, and articles related to geology.  Merriam-Webster currently defines it as "a geologic doctrine that processes acting in the same manner as at present and over long spans of time are sufficient to account for all current geological features and all past geological changes". You savvy that? In the past, people believed the Bible. Then uniformitarianism came along, and people who were ready to compromise their beliefs (or simply reject anything to do with the Bible) embraced it. Then uniformitarianism was challenged by observed evidence — such as the Ice Age. Dry Falls image credit:  NASA / Goddard / Harrison Smith Image usage does not imply endorsement of site contents Secular scientists rejected the Ice Age at first, then reluctantly accepted it into sacred secular canon. Uniformitarian doctrine was later rocked back on its heels by the Lake Mis

Modern Deserts and Ice Age Lakes

Image
A few of the hands at the Darwin Ranch decided to head over to a lake for some swimming, but all they found was a desert. It turns out that  geologists named lakes that existed in the past, and they read them too quickly.  It is baffling to uniformitarian scientists, who believe deep time and gradual processes are the key to the present, can produce so many lakes and such. Using forensic (historical) science, geologists can see evidence for rivers and lakes in areas that are arid and semi-arid. Some of these lakes were huge. They were scattered all over the world, including Death Valley . Dante's Ridge, Death Valley image credit: Hoerner / NPS (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Secular models for the Ice Age (they believe in many ice ages, without evidence, because they are necessary to their naturalistic narrative) are troubled when it comes to explaining formerly wet deserts like the Sahara and these others. The Genesis Flood models are consistent with the obse

Ice Sheet Studies Consistent with Creation Science Models

If you ever take a notion to do some mountain climbing, skip Mt. Everest, Kangchenjunga, Mt. Elbert, or any of those things, try a real  challenge. Make tracks over to the Gamburtsev Mountain Range. Lesser known, and about the size of the Alps. The interesting part is that you cannot climb them because they are under a huge amount of snow and ice near the South Pole, so forget what I said about climbing them. We can move on to the main reason for this discussion. Using radar and recently-developed technology, ice sheets in the Antarctic and Greenland have been studied. Using fundamentally flawed radiometric dating methods and other assumption-laden methods, scientists tagged ages of several million Darwin years onto them. Once again, observed data does not fit uniformitarian expectations. Credits: Flickr / Penn State and National Science Foundation ( CC BY-NC 2.0 ) Over the assumed millions of years, there should be signs of massive erosion. One rescuing device is that there was stead

Surprising Companions in the Ice Age?

Image
Readers have seen many times here that secular scientists face a number of serious problems with the Ice Age. They offer ideas that sound like they were made up on the spot, such as numerous ice ages occurring, but there is no evidence because each one destroys evidence of the last one. Sure, you betcha! Another difficulty is that they cannot propose a plausible model of how any ice ages formed in the first place. Add to this the fact that disharmonious associations  exist. That is, fossils of creatures from diverse climates were discovered that should have never met. We have a pair of articles on these and related subjects to consider. Original image before adding text at Imgflip : Unsplash / Hannah Troupe I am once again asking people to remember that the word fossil  is used in a variety of ways. Most of the time, the word is used to indicate that things are permineralized (turned to stone). However, Ice Age fossils rarely show that characteristic. The "disharmonious" part

Secularists Moving DNA Goalposts

Image
When the numbers are not working out the way the Party desires, change them. It is known that DNA is a fragile molecule and cannot last indefinitely. When the Darwin Party's deep-time dogma was challenged by DNA in a mammoth tusk, they changed the numbers. Credit: Flickr / Andrew Wilkinson  ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) Naturalists protect their storyline. We have seen many other instances where they ignored data, tampered with the evidence, and lied outright. Not content to play the cards they're dealt, they deal from the bottom of the deck — or even print their own cards to stash in their sleeves to play as needed. We have two articles showing how these Darwinoids are acting in an extremely unscientific manner to deny recent creation and the Genesis Flood. That stinks, Sebastian. There is an upper limit on how long DNA can last. That number was adjusted because Darwin needs mega years to make his magick. Since the DNA in a mammoth's tusk was in permafrost, that changed things. Sure, c

Plants Under Ice Fluster Evolutionists

Image
Although it was not planned, a spate of articles have a common element where secularists have been faced with evidence that is recalcitrant to fish-to-philosopher evolution or deep time views. We have two articles for your perusal that have the same effect. This time, plants in extremely cold places. Greenland north coast image credit: NASA / Michael Studinger Have you ever been working with your team on a project, then lose some of what you were working on, only to find it about fifty years later? Sure you have, it happens to all of us. Drilling down under Greenland ice, a core sample was taken and then analyzed after it was found many years later. As purveyors of clickbait might say, "The results will shock you!" Well, the results did shock the scientists. How did that dirt get in there under the ice sheets? In fact, it appears that the ice sheets were gone for a spell and plants grew. Greenland is a mighty big place, so such a thing was not an anomaly. Although your typic

Chilling Secular Ice Age Theories

Image
When secularists ridicule biblical creation science Ice Age models, you may get a variety of answers. That is, if they have anything other than, "Because atheism". Uniformitarian views require billions of years of gradual processes so Darwin's magic can happen, but they fail to explain observed evidence. Upsala glacier photographed from the International Space Station, Image credit:  NASA (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) In fact, the idea of an ice age was resisted by secularists for many years after it was first proposed. It was viewed as a threat to uniformitarianism, but they later incorporated it into their speculations because they couldn't ignore the evidence. However, they still have no idea how it happened; conjectures are conflicting and contrary to data. So, since they can't explain even one ice age, why not fifty? That's science. Use the fundamentally flawed Milankovitch Theory , because that's science, too. Never mind that bi

Fundamentally Flawed Ice Age Stories

Image
Like anyone else that commences to telling tall tales, secular scientists get their stories going but trap themselves. For example, they claim that Earth had five major ice ages that would have turned Earth into a snowball — with no mechanism for thawing even once! Then there are glacial striations. Gravelly Mountains image credit: USDA / Preston Keres Secularists believe that there were actually fifty (count 'em!) lesser ice ages in the Pleistocene, but each one conveniently ruined the evidence. But hey, look at the glacial striations in rocks, like them thar in the landslide on top of the Gravelly Mountains! (Also, there's tweaking the data from the ineffective Milankovitch theory .) A big problem with the so-called glacial striations is that they sure do look a lot like the results from rocks bouncing off one another. Actually, their ancient ice ages are explained by the one Ice Age and the Genesis Flood. Pleistocene sediments or geomorphological features before the last ice

Lakebed in Greenland Surprises Secular Scientists

Image
Yet another discovery does not fit the old-earth paradigm. We have seen it in many fields of science, and this time, Greenland is the culprit — just like the Bill Nye-defying canons . Scientists were surprised to find a dry lakebed under the ice. Glaciers in northwest Greenland image credit: NASA / JPL-Caltech (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) To use the scientific vernacular, it is hugely big. The article linked below puzzled me at first because this was discovered by an observatory. Don't those things point upward and look out yonder? But they used satellites, and various scientific disciplines were involved to study the lakebed and indications for the amount of sediment. Using biblical creation science models, the aftermath of the Genesis Flood precipitated (heh!) the conditions that caused the Ice Age. Cataclysmic flood waters carved out a lot of rock in a hurry, and these led to tremendous sedimentary deposits. Plug in the model with the Greenland data, and

Idle Scrawling in the Ice Age

Image
Believers in deep time and universal common descent have a silly habit of believing that humans long ago were stupid brutes, freshly minted from evolving and the ink was not dry yet. Yet another archaeological find supports the views of biblical creationists. Portelet Bay, Jersey / Library of Congress, Photochrom Print Collection If you are on the southeast coast of the larger British Isles facing Normandy, France, you will also be facing the much smaller Channel Islands. They are in the English Channel (the French call it  la Manche ). Doing some island hopping, the second nearest to Normandy is Jersey. Some interesting scratchings were found on a plaque that was broken into ten pieces. They are dated at many thousands of Darwin years old, but their condition and other considerations make the great age implausible. It is interesting that not only did the ancient artist have to do self-expression in stone, but abstract thought is evident — something that atheism and evolution cannot ex

Ice on Greenland Deposited Rapidly

Image
Believers in an old earth refer to slow and gradual processes (uniformitarianism), and a big part of that involves ice depositions. This idea not only relies on several assumptions, but also relies on circular reasoning involving the Milankovitch theory . New research supports creation science models on ice depositions, the Genesis Flood, and the Ice Age . Nuuk city in Greenland Credit: Good Free Images / Oliver Schauf Evidence has existed for a long time that ice accumulates rapidly, and one dramatic example involved airplanes that crash-landed there in World War II . There are times when secular scientists conduct research instead of following the herd mentality of "consensus science" . Creation science Flood models involve extreme volcanic activity. Not only does this contribute to planetary cooling, but produces tephra (debris) and ash. These materials were detected in ice core samples, and the secular consensus was upended. The millions of years is built upon assuming th

Siberian Cave Bear on Ice

Image
Siberia is famous for extreme cold and political prisoners, yet some people call it home. Imagine if you will some reindeer herders going about their routine and finding the frozen remains of a cave bear. They saw fit to make the finding known. We have a couple of articles on this subject for your consideration. Assembled with items from Clker clipart This critter was dated at many thousands of Darwin years ago, but was in surprisingly good condition. Such a huge amount of time assigned to it is based on the naturalism narrative, not science or even good sense. Ever put a slab of meat in your freezer and then find it again some time later, only to find it has deteriorated and not worth putting in a stew? That's in a well-controlled environment. We're supposed to suspend reason and believe what scientists say, follow the consensus , and believe that seasonal changes, earth movements, predators, and whatever else didn't bother it. They say this bear, with soft tissue, organs

Secularists Scratching their Milankovitch

Image
Secular scientists are committed to naturalism and huge amounts of time. Evolution needs this time, so they chant, "We're in this together" and find alleged evidence for millions of years — even if they have to manufacture it. The Milankovitch theory about ice ages is weak, but they cling to it and ignore its flaws. Assembled with graphics from  Clker  clipart The Milankovitch idea is use to supporting not only ice ages, but deep time, deny the truth of recent creation, and even support global climate change. A paper that allegedly validated the theory, but that paper was shot down by a biblical creationist . Because the narrative is more important than actually doing science, the obedient lapdogs of naturalism wrote about the paper and rode a side trail completely around problems with it. That's indoctrination, not science. An overview of the Milankovitch (or astronomical) ice age theory appears in the May 2020 issue of Physics Today . This theory (hypothesis

Observational Evidence for One Ice Age

Image
Secular geologists have upped the ante on the number of ice ages to about fifty, but biblical creation scientists maintain that there was only one. A big problem for secular scientists is that their concepts are inconsistent, and other problem is the failed Milankovitch Theory . New evidence supports a creation science Ice Age model. Yedoma containing large ice wedges in northern Alaska Credit: Mikhail Kanevskiy ; University of Alaska Fairbanks, Institute of Northern Engineering via USGS (PD) Multiple ice ages are forced into the Milankovitch Theory for the sake of the deep-time narrative, but the actual evidence supports only one Ice Age — which was subsequent to the Genesis Flood. Yedoma  is permafrost containing organic material and a passel of ice. These yedomas have been associated with climate change (both for today and climate fluctuations found in Greenland ice cores), but fears of them influencing climate today do not seem based on good science. Yedomas cause insurmount

Ancient Cypress Trees and Modern Shipworms

Image
Back in 2004, Hurricane Ivan removed sediment that was hiding cypress trees, which was obviously interesting to scientists. It was also remarkable for creation scientists as well because they were clearly not tens of thousands of Darwin years old. New findings are surfacing as well. Credit: Unsplash / Joshua J. Cotten The people of yesteryear were mistaken by giving shipworms their name. They are actually a kind of mollusk, but look very much like a worm. They also like to eat wood among other things. By extracting the shipworms, many types of bacteria were discovered, and a passel of them were previously unknown. Yes, bacteria are practically everywhere, but many are beneficial — or at least, harmless. When researchers commenced to looking for the shipworms in the submerged cypress stumps, they were amazed — amazed , I tell you — and how well the wood was preserved. But the shipworms could easily have consumed the wood long ago if the earth was as old as secular scientists b

The Young Earth and Swimming in the Sahara

Image
Have you ever wondered why the ancient Egyptians chose an arid, sandy place to live? "This here's the spot!" "What? Where? We're standing in sand, and it's hot enough to boil a monkey's brain. Kind of arid, ain't it?" "It's good for my sinuses. Let's commence to building us a civilization". As you well know, that didn't happen. In a like manner, if you read your Bible, you'll see that the Promised Land is frequently referred to as "flowing with milk and honey" such as in Numbers 13:27. (Not literally, of course. It was an expression to say that it was a fabulous place.) People wanted to take it away from the Israelites for a long time, partly because it was a nice place and also because they hated God's people. This painting in the Cave of Swimmers is located in the Libyan Desert area of the Sahara Credit: Wikimedia Commons / Roland Unger ( CC by-SA 3.0 ) It may come as a shock, but the

The Making of Fjords

Image
When thinking of fjords, those inlets with cliffs or steep sides, many people think of Norway. Sognefjord up thataway is probably the most famous, but they are found in several other parts of the world. The way they formed is rather involved, the product of the Genesis Flood and glaciers. Sognefjord, Norway image credit: Wikimedia Commons / Worldtraveller  ( CC by-SA 3.0 ) Uniformitarian geologists have their ideas on how fjords were made. (No, Slartibartfast was not involved, nor was American industrialist Henry Fjord). Secularists tell you that glaciers carved them out, but a better explanation can be found by using a creation science Flood model. The fjords were not carved out by the glaciers, but tectonic action and tremendous amounts of water laid the groundwork (heh!), and glaciers also played their part. Today’s feedback is a question from C.O. of Norway about the origin of fjords. Did the ice form the fjords or were they already there and the ice then filled them?

Faulty Ice Core Ages and Tephra

Image
As several linked articles on this site alone have revealed, secular scientists put the spurs to the narrative and make unwarranted assumptions. In this example, a key role is played by tephra —  "Is that the old video game with the colored blocks that drop down, Cowboy Bob?" No, that's Tetris.  This is about volcanic ash and debris called tephra.  It can be found in ice cores. Large tephra block in the Antarctic Credit: Wikimedia Commons /  Andrew Shiva  ( CC by-SA 4.0 ) Believers in deep time think that layers retrieved from ice cores are strong evidence for their views. However, they have dismissed facts based on their assumptions. (Interestingly, Bill Nye inadvertently supported creationists when he admitted that Greenland ice layers are not necessarily annual.) Layers of tephra were found in ice cores, but secular reckoning is ineffective when these are analyzed. Creation science and the Ice Age due to the Genesis Flood presents a far better explanation of

Tunnel Valleys and the Ice Age

Image
A few weeks back, I met up with Rusty Swingset and his lady friend Jacqueline Hyde (who was not quite herself) before they headed back up to the Darwin Ranch near Deception Pass. They were discussing tunnel valleys, something I had never heard of before. Turns out some are a few days' ride (a few hours by car) from me. Finger Lakes image credit: NASA Just south of Lake Ontario in the state of New York is a region called the Finger Lakes. You can see why (besides, "Clawmark Lakes" could seem a mite scary), since there are about eleven of them going pretty much north and south, and quite narrow. How did they get there? Tunnel valleys like this are in many places when Earth wore an ice hat. More specifically, areas that were glaciated. Rapid meltwater during the Ice Age carved them out, but the timing details are sketchy. Some uniformitarian geologists think these happened over several ice ages, but they cannot provide evidence. More likely, the flows were catastroph
