Pondering Many Moons

Image
When out at night, I like to gaze in awe at the moon. Sometimes I get a pleasant surprise and see it in the morning while on the way to work. Everyone probably feels something when seeing the beauty and majesty of the moon. At this writing, there are currently eight planets in our solar system. And a passel of moons. Most of these were unknown until recently. (Saturn is showing off with 270+ moons!) We know that ours is unique (there is no adequate cosmic evolution story for its formation ), the other moons illustrate its uniqueness. Artist's concept of Cassini and Titan,  NASA  / JPL-Caltech (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Our solar system is not as old as secularists want to believe, and the planets testify to this. In addition, the moons out yonder are defying solar system formation ideas popular in the secular science industry. Epimetheus and Janus mysteriously avoid colliding. Ganymede has its own magnetic field. Miranda is dancing on the midnight wind...

Evolutionary Racism in Australia

Image
Although modern evolutionists try to distance themselves from their own history, so-called scientific racism is intrinsically linked to evolution. Nobody is saying that evolution caused racism. People have found ways for groups to detest each other almost from the beginning. Charles Darwin's Victorian myth had the epitome of evolution as the white Englishman, and darker people belonged to lesser races that were closer to apes, and destined to be eliminated by nature and higher races. After Darwin's writings appeared, racism was justified as scientific, and it increased a great deal. Evolution sewer cover — do not  use the URL in the image, it has been taken over by untrustworthy folks While I have had some atheists and evolutionists not only deny their racist heritage (and claim that creationists are calling all of them racists, which is a lie), some secularists admit to what happened in the past. A 1973 book collected official racist policies used against Australian aborigines...

The Myth of Tiktaalik as a Missing Link

Image
Darwin's Flying Monkeys™ swoop down on creationist sites, gleefully telling us how stupid we — they are the smart ones for believing "science." One example is something like, " Tiktaalik  is a transitional form that refutes creation. Haw, haw, haw!" Not hardly! It seems that atheists and other evolutionists do not keep current with their evolution stories; knowledgeable creationists have to correct them. In this case, tetrapods (vertebrates with four limbs, including humans) supposedly evolved from lobe-finned fish. Rikki-tikki-tiktaalik was one such fish. Tiktaalik roseae , WikiComm / Olmagon ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ), modified at PhotoFunia Darwin's disciples were all a-twitter when they found parts of Tiktaalik  because they presuppose their story of evolution and that it made tracks on land. This meant it wanted to be a tetrapod. A big problem for evolution believers is that they often don't get the memo: Tracks by a tetrapod were found that were dated using...

Death Valley and Water in Space

Image
Just the other day, Lisa Myworries had a day off from supervising the Winkie Guards at the Darwin Ranch and saddled up for some riding. She said she had no plan, just let the pony have its head and then slow down. Eventually, she ended up at my place and wanted to talk for a spell. Our chin music turned to Death Valley, of all things. Because of mountains, winds, and other conditions, it is a very hot desert with almost no water. As it is with other extremes (like the polar regions), life still exists there. Death Valley, Unsplash / Nick Rickert It is generally accepted that the key to life is water — liquid  water. Excited news reports pop up every now and then that some form of ice may exist on some planets or their moons, therefore life may have evolved there. No. It's form isn't much help. There is ice in craters on the moon, but actually obtaining it would be almost insurmountable. Water on Mars would not last for long. The more we study on it, the more it is obvious that...

Memories in Cells

Image
It has been long debated where memories are located in the brain, especially since they seem to be in many regions. The more the brain is studied, the more amazing it becomes — and yet, the brain is not the mind; the mind uses  the brain. Although many materialists try to deny the existence of consciousness, they have major problems with evidence for it ( including how it supposedly evolved ). The concept of panpsychism  (everything has some sort of consciousness) is not exactly welcome, but evidence for memory in kidney cells seems to fit. Brain Drawing, Pixabay / Pete Linforth (modified) Indeed, there is a possibility that other cell types also show a kind of memory. This smacks of pagan pantheism (but then, evolution itself is a pagan belief ). However, memories outside of the brain and in cells actually point to something higher: The Master Engineer is showing his amazing skill at design work, and humans are beginning to see this aspect of it as well. To read the short ar...

Evaluating the Quality of Evidence for Lucy

Image
People expect scientists to evaluate data according to logic, but that seems to be happening less. Indeed, critical thinking is shunned by people and what can be called stupidification is taking its place . People "think" with their emotions and parrot what people they admire have said. In my workplace, I have seen certain workers playing videos of people pontificating that they are victims of Conservatives. (Interesting how these "oppressed" people ignore the fact that they have public platforms for their views.) Lucy's evolutionary transitional form status is an example of poor critical thinking. Modified from a public domain image at  Wikimedia Commons Let's first consider medical science. In 2001, I was having chest pains. A doctor said that if he were a betting man, he's bet that my problem was anxiety. Although educated, it was his opinion  based on incomplete evidence; there was  a problem that was resolved with an angioplasty and stent. In 2023,...

The Irrational Hype over Extraterrestrials

Image
Atheists and other evolutionists have their invisible friends, clinging to them by faith, not evidence. The belief in extraterrestrials is based on blind faith springing from evolutionary presuppositions. "Lookit all them stars, there's gotta be life, I tellya." Not a peep, which is the Fermi Paradox . Yes, a passel of planets beyond our solar system has been discovered. Those exoplanets are not helpful, and are even harmful  to secular theories . Astrobiologists (there is no astro to biologize, a fake job) depend on planets being found in the Goldilocks Zone. Darwin dancing with space alien in pale moonlight made at  Bing AI , edited at  cleanup.pictures This Goldilocks Zone draws its name from the fairy tale involving three bears: A planet's orbit cannot be too hot or too cold, it must be just right. Then evolutionists hope and pray to their puny gods that abiogenesis occurred out yonder , thereby negating the Creator. Isn't that stupid? It is even worse because...

The Archaeopteryx Transition Myth

Image
Because of evolutionary presuppositions, the discovery of the first Archaeopteryx lithographica  fossil shortly after Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species , it caused quite a stir. The scientific community was beginning to take Darwin seriously, and here was alleged evidence for the first bird. Over the years, other  Archaeopteryx  fossils were discovered. Darwin's disciples were pushing the idea that dinosaurs evolved into birds, so Archie was claimed to be a transitional form. This has been debunked, but the transitional form concept is zombified and keeps coming back. Archaeopteryx lithographica, WikiComm, National Geographic Society / James L. Amos (PD) There are no half measures involved. The feathers were determined to be the kind used in flight, it had a wishbone (muscles attach there) so that involved flight as well, and other features of critters that exist today. In fact, it could be likened to the way a modern pheasant flies. No transitional form ...

The Controversies on the Time to Build the Ark

Image
Biblical creationists have put a great deal of effort into researching Noah's Ark, and I reckon that the folks at Answers in Genesis have put extra work into it. After all, they built a life-sized replica based on what they understood from the Bible. Scoffers reject the Ark and the Genesis Flood out of hand. However, people who want to know if AiG (really, creationists in general) are being consistent with their stated worldview. There are controversies on how long Noah had to build the Ark in the first place. Noah's Ark, Pixabay /  Jeff Jacobs  (modified at  PhotoFunia ) The difficulties on the time it took Noah had to build the Ark include his age, the age of maturity of his sons, and interpretations of the biblical text. There are also questions about the technology available and use of animal power  — creationists believe (and history shows) that ancient people were very intelligent. In addition, Noah may have employed the locals to help with the construction; ha...

Erosion, Runoff, and the Genesis Flood

Image
Although secularists often resent the distinction, there are two kinds of science . Operational  science deals with the here and now: analyzing, building, treating illnesses, etc. When science is used to attempt to explain what happened in the past, it is historical  science — for obvious reasons. When scientists propose ideas for what happened in the past, there should be evidence for their claims. Biblical creationists believe that the Genesis Flood was a global catastrophe. Two aspects of Flood geology include the runoff of the waters and the accompanying erosion. Rocks showing layers near Hurley, NY, Unsplash / Cowboy Bob Sorensen Small areas of erosion are no big deal, but geologists know that there is continental  erosion. There are several ways of measuring it. Coal is important for this process in some areas. The lack of it in the Great Plains and the flatness of the area makes it very difficult to estimate erosion. Other areas have domes with erosion around them....
