Ice Age Megafloods and the Global Deluge

Image
Sometimes it is necessary to use the expensive nine-syllable words. Uniformitarianism  is one of those that crop up in sites, posts, and articles related to geology.  Merriam-Webster currently defines it as "a geologic doctrine that processes acting in the same manner as at present and over long spans of time are sufficient to account for all current geological features and all past geological changes". You savvy that? In the past, people believed the Bible. Then uniformitarianism came along, and people who were ready to compromise their beliefs (or simply reject anything to do with the Bible) embraced it. Then uniformitarianism was challenged by observed evidence — such as the Ice Age. Uniformitarian doctrine was later rocked back on its heels by the Lake Mis

Bad Day for Vampire Squids?

Image
Once again, I realize that I got into the wrong business. You do not have to be a scientist to use their principle of Making Things Up™, and it seems like it would be easy to get paid to publish in a secular journal by pretending to do science and fudging the data. These owlhoots in the secular science industry are a vexation, pure and simple. A fossil of two squids having the last bad day of their lives showed one being predatory-like on another, then both were buried. An abysmally absurd excuse, "distraction sinking", was invoked to explain their final situation. That one really takes the rag off the bush . Credit: Wikimedia Commons / Citron ( CC-BY-SA-3.0 ) The two squids were presumed to be evolutionary ancestors of the vampire squid from Hell ( named because of its superficial resemblances to vampire stereotypes of old), but evidence does not support this speculation. Also, "distraction sinking" because they were fighting over lunch, sank, and died is (I say

Someone Made Art on the Wings of Fruit Flies!

Image
There are various organisms with some rather startling designs — which look like other creatures. One even resembles  certain crab shell . Although some can be written off as pareidolia (an example is the lady on Mars ). Sometimes, people see what they want (or are influenced) to see, but other times, images are surprising. Tephritidae fruit flies (a less common family) have patterned wings, but when Dr. Brigitte Howarth was examining one of these under a microscope, she thought the insect had been infested with ants. They were that  real, and people may be suspicious of pictures, thinking that they had been digitally altered. The phenomenon was called "evolutionary art", which is silly from the get-go. Art needs an artist. Evolution is not a person that can select or cause art, and is supposed to be purposeless. So how did the extremely detailed patterns get there, and why doesn't the entire family have them? Misotheists and other Darwinists may claim that it was natural

Triassic Troubles and the Genesis Flood

Image
Continuing the series on geological formations (the previous installment was " Permian Problems and the Genesis Flood "), we are seeing the uniformitarian storyline about life forms becoming increasingly complex is not supported by observed evidence. The Triassic is no friend of naturalistic beliefs There are assumed mass extinctions in the fossils, yet life forms are found that carry on just fine. The timing of these raises questions as well, such as why land extinctions are more spread out than that of marine organisms. Other creatures (including some interesting dinosaurs) appear suddenly in the Triassic and have no evolutionary ancestry. Credit: Wikimedia Commons /  Nobumichi Tamura (I like his work) ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) The Triassic shows how the ancient continent called Pangea began to break up. This shows in the Newark Supergroup (no, not Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons). Roving gangs of dinosaurs stole vehicles, robbed shops — "You're making that up, Cowboy B

Neanderthal DNA Fake Science News

Image
Time and time again, we see how scientists elevate the naturalism narrative over actual science. When they do not have something that works, they use the best-in-field fallacy  instead of abandoning it. Similarly, secularists try to find ways of clinging to refuted "junk" DNA myth . Now they are doing the same thing with Neanderthals. Even though believers in universal common descent evolution get burrs under their saddles when people say that humans evolved from apes (or monkeys), those critters they present sure do look like apes. Also, evolution popularizers also use the same kind of terminology. Cut people some slack, willya? Neanderthals were portrayed as a link between humans and apes, but it has been definitively shown that they were indeed fully human . Researchers tried to bring Neanderthal down a few notches from humanity with a DNA study. It did not go well. Using poor sampling and incomplete research, scientists made assertions that are the opposite of what is rev

Parenting Skills of Poison Dart Frogs

Image
It has been said that bright colors on critters are a warning, and an excellent example is the poison dart frogs down Central and South America way. They get their name because natives used them to poison their darts — so someone who has a penchant for toad licking should stay home. There are many varieties of these little lethal lovelies, and their toxicity is variable. The strawberry poison dart frogs have less poison, several varieties of color, and apparently they can discriminate to be with those having similar markings. Racist? Speciesist? Credit: Flickr /  Pavel Kirillov  ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) Darwin's disciples are puzzled as to  why their poison doesn't make them croak . Some people actually have them as pets , they just don't feed them the things that produce toxins. In the wild, their contact poison also makes their parenting procedures even more curious. Mom frog carts each young'un on her back for a while. Many frog species simply lay their eggs in water and le

Raiding Influences for the Ark of the Covenant?

Image
This time, we will ride a different trail than usual. This is about the Ark of the Covenant, which has raised many questions throughout history. Its location is unknown, though there are many legends as to its whereabouts. No wonder archaeologists are frustrated. Try crate 9906753. In the Old Testament, there are many details about the construction of the temple, making of and the Ark, and so on. God commanded many aspects for building it, but not every detail of its design. Some people wonder if the Israelites raided Egyptian influences when they made it. Credit: Free Christian Illustrations Let's ride up yonder hill so we can look down and get a bigger picture. First of all, we do not have any images of the Ark of the Covenant for reference, so saying it had Egyptian influences is speculation. Even so, such influences may not be out of the question. Since God didn't provide a blueprint, builders were able to use some creativity. Indeed, people frequently draw from other sourc
