Lunar Volcanoes and the Age of the Earth

Image
Every once in a while, Darwin's Flying Monkeys™ drop by The Question Evolution Project on Fakebook. Essentially, they tell us that they are smarter than creationists, we do not understand science, if God exists then he is bad, deep time is proved. and so on. Interesting how they do not follow the "science" they believe. Some evolutionists want it scrapped , soft tissues in dinosaurs  are a serious threat to evolution, the lunar formation story and the moon's recession contradict science, and many more problems for naturalism. Speaking of the moon, how about that volcanism, huh? Mare Crisium (modified at PhotoFunia ), NASA / GSFC / Arizona State University (usage does not imply endorsement) The prevailing Just-So Story about how the earth got its moon is that when the earth was still forming, the hot stuff was smashed into by a Mars-sized planet. Big hot splash. Then everything settled down into the earth and moon system with its amazing symmetry and beneficial aspe...

Sophisticated Language in Humpback Whale Songs?

Image
Whale evolution is a convoluted story, what with evolving creatures in the sea moving to land to continue there, then some went back to the sea, and all that. Believers in descent with modification tell that absurd story with straight faces, but it is disputed. Also,  genetics refutes whale evolution . Language is a strong evidence for creation . Despite the efforts of evolutionists to show language recognition and usage among great apes, the Creator gave us the capacity to use and refine it. But...humpback whales are exhibiting language as well? Humpback whale image credit:  NOAA.gov via  Wikimedia Commons  (usage does not imply endorsement) A scientist recorded humpback whale songs. Lots of them. Over several years, not just a weekend at the beach. Although no whale was recorded singing "Louie, Louie,"  it seems that the whales have a kind of language. Indeed, the songs would even increase in complexity later on. This is markedly different from when birds sing...

Samuel Wilberforce Dismantled Darwin

Image
His father,  William, was a Christian and a slavery abolitionist , and Samuel (1805-1873) took his faith further. He became a bishop in the Church of England. Samuel was also a contemporary of Charles Darwin and unimpressed by his work. Interestingly, scientists tended to reject Darwin's version of evolution while the clergy was embracing deep time, then eventually rode for the Darwin brand. Wilberforce is known for a misrepresentation of his confrontation of T.H. Huxley . There something else of significance that is less known. Samuel Wilberforce by George Richmond , 1868 Sam was involved in a debate with Darwinists and also published an essay in 1860. He did one thing that I deplore in any Christian apologetics effort, and that was to leave God out of the discussions. However, he did take Darwin to task on scientific grounds. "But Cowboy Bob, he had no business taking on Darwin because he wasn't a scientist!" Actually, Darwin's only degree was in theology — he ...

Crosslinking as a Dinosaur Soft Tissue Rescuing Device

Image
The existence of soft tissues in dinosaur fossils has been a tremendous problem for evolutionists, so they have spent a great deal of time working at the fudge factory. (That is, fudging rescuing devices for the problem.) Some appear to mitigate the damage when important details are omitted. A one-off anomaly or two could be set aside, but there are numerous examples of blood vessels, proteins, DNA, and all that good stuff existing for alleged millions of years. Reality sits at the back of the narrative bus; the story is more important. Some scientists as well as Darwin's Flying Monkeys™ on teh interwebz denied their existence at first, but many are finally admitting the existence of soft tissues. They cannot get past biblical creationists who point out the facts and implications. Smug evolutionists have come up with yet another rescuing device called crosslinking . They think they can keep their deep time and use it to evosplain other things dear to their cold hearts. Logic? No t...

Scrapping Neo-Darwinism for Something Else?

Image
Proponents of minerals-to-musician evolution are passionate about their beliefs, often refusing to admit that biblical creationists have pointed out many problems in the current story. Some folks have said that scientists are in agreement about evolution, but disagree about details. That remark is self-refuting if you study on it. Also, there are scientists who admit that there are serious difficulties, which has been known for many years. Darwin's disciples ignore those comments or accuse creationists of " quote mining ." However, they fail to show that we are misusing the quotes. Pond, Unsplash /  Cowboy Bob Sorensen  (cropped) While many evolutionary scientists seem to go with the flow and think what they are told (but criticizing the predominant paradigm can end a career), some have enough standing to speak their radical ideas. While biblical creationists show that evidence supports a creation orchard instead of Darwin's Tree of Life, it has been said that evolut...

Orchard of Created Kinds

Image
It is interesting that atheists and other evolutionists strongly react to biblical creationists discussing created kinds , almost as if the current system of taxonomy was devised by a higher power. Ironically, this system used by secularists was originally developed by Carl Linnaeus, who was a creationist. Nobody seems to be advocating the replacement of the current system. It is pretty useful for reference points. Biblical creationists study the created kinds (baraminology), and most of them place kind  near the family  level of current taxonomy. Basement Cat photo by Cowboy Bob Sorensen, enhanced with FotoSketcher It may come as a shock to some people, but facts can fit opposing models; "Their" facts and "our" facts is false. Natural selection is an accepted part of most creation science models, for example. We also have no problem with speciation and hybridization. Creationists have the cat kind, dog kind, horse kind, and so on. There are variations within them ...

Dusty old Mars will not be Home

Image
Some folks consider Elon Musk a visionary, making long-held hopes of going to Mars seem possible. It appears that he is not consulting with scientists about the journey. Radiation from the earth to the moon was bad enough, but traveling  farther away could be disastrous to travelers . Dust on earth gets unsightly and makes people sneeze. The dust on the moon was different than ours, causing problems for the Apollo astronauts. It could conceivably tear their suits, and it was a great concern for protecting their equipment. Then there is Mars dust. Curiosity rover takes pictures of Mars dust storm, NASA / JPL-Caltech / MSSS (usage does not imply endorsement) Aside from looking for life and trying to support dust-to-Darwin evolution, devices sent to Mars did some analysis of the land. That dust contains dangerous chemicals. It also has electrostatic charges. Also, some of it is so fine, particles cannot be coughed out of the lungs. To make things worse, it moves. There are huge dust ...

Artificial Intelligence — Threat and Disappointment

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen It seems like practically everywhere we turn, AI is in use. Some people consider it a tool, others a threat . We can interact with it unknowingly. My most frequent use is internet searches; AI gets the query, scours the web, and answers rapidly. Plus it gives links for research. For the arts, I want material done by people. Sure, use computers and AI for small adjustments, but overall, make it human. A Christian hard rock channel on YouTube has at least eight "albums" by a fake band, and the write-up is deceptive . AI Cyborg adored by mindless masses* Some folks don't want AI writing and "performing" their music because it's sterile; it lacks...soul. The "band" mentioned above has Christian lyrics, but since so much material is cranked out, I lack belief that anyone is checking the lyrics for theological accuracy. Christian lyrics, even sermons, by AI should be of concern to Christians. People dislike artificial intelligence ...

Dinosaur National Monument and the Genesis Flood

Image
Interesting how the western part of America has so many things of interest to geology and paleontology, yes? Lots of national parks and national monuments protected by the government. Most are quite large. Dinosaur National Monument spans parts of two states, Utah and Colorado. This national monument appears in science news frequently, especially because of dinosaurs. Obviously. There is also some interesting geology. That and geology bring along deep time propaganda. Someone can also go camping, river rafting, hiking, and things. Hiker at Dinosaur National Monument, NPS / Jacob W. Frank (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The uniformitarian narrative has rocks building up over hundreds of millions of years. Slowly. The Morrison Formation contains the dinosaurs, and they say it is 150 million years old. The story of how the fossils formed is out of kilter with the usual tale. There are details of what is actually observed with the fossils and the rocks that are far be...

No, the Human Liver did not Evolve

Image
After a spell of target practice with my .44-40 Winchester (same loads for rifle and pistol), I saddled up and rode into town for gun maintenance supplies and ammo. While there, I encountered Russell Watchtower, who heads up the Ministry of Truth at the Darwin Ranch. We  went into the local eatery for lunch. I had burger steak and eggs, and Russ had beef liver with onions. In my childhood days, I couldn't stand liver. My parents let me have a hamburger instead. "I wonder if cannibals eat livers," I mused. Human liver, Wikimedia Commons / BruceBlaus ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) "Sure they do," he replied. "Disgusting to us, but our burial practices are disgusting to those people as well. Some ate parts as a funeral ritual, others wanted to gain the strength of their enemies." I said, "Seems strange to want the strength of someone you've already defeated." He stopped with his fork in midair and stared, then guffawed. "Good point!" "You ...

Magnetic Field of Earth Troubling to Evolutionists

Image
Riders for the Deep Time brand, promoting cosmic and other kinds of evolution along the trail, have a problem with Earth's magnetic field. That is because there are strong points about it that argue against an old earth and support recent creation. Secularists attempt to use rescuing devices that are...truly bizarre. Some even defy the laws of physics. Why? They have a commitment to their worldview of naturalism. This means accepting bad science rather than admitting that there is a Creator. The news gets worse. Earth's magnetosphere,  NASA  / Goddard / Aaron Kaase (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The moon and other planets have magnetic fields as well. These are troubling to secular scientists because they believe plate tectonics are necessary for magnetic fields to form — but some places show no evidence of plate tectonics. Dr. Russell Humphreys is a biblical creationist who predicted the magnetic fields of several planets, then his work was verified whil...

The Increasing Intelligence of Neanderthals

Image
Some folks still cling to the image of Neanderthals as stupid brutes, but calling someone a Neanderthal as an insult is actually a compliment. The more they are studied, the more they are found to be fully human — but some evolutionists do not want to admit this fact. Neanderthals are known to have cooked with fire, had skillful cave paintings, made and wore jewelry, seem to have had religious views — and traveled extensively. In fact, they intermarried. Their DNA is found in people of European and Asian ancestry, more so in Melanesia. Neanderthal person, WikiComm / Neanderthal-Museum, Mettmann ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ), modified at PhotoFunia Odd that Melanesia is in the DNA list. We're talking about an area north and east of Australia, Fiji and those islands. I doubt that they traveled that far from Europe, but someone gave DNA to those people. Speaking of travel, the toolmaking of Neanderthals has been labeled  Quina , which is very distinct. So why is it found in East Asia? Maybe they ...

Creationism Helps Mental Health in Students

Image
Concerns were raised about the increase in mental illnesses in Australian students, and other countries (especially the formerly United States) should follow suit. Worldviews have consequences, and students are being indoctrinated with the Darwinian worldview. As I have said many times, atheism essentially teaches negativity. That is, we are the products of the Big Bang, then minerals-to-microscopist evolution, there is no final ultimate justice, rewards, punishment. When you die, you are worm food. That is the evolutionary message of hope. No wonder people are messed up. Sunrise in the forest, RGBStock / Alex Bruda The study revealed that the Christian worldview gives hope, which is effective against mental illnesses. There is  a final Judgment and justice, Jesus is coming back for his people, you can be raised from the dead and be with him in glory, and more. If studies like the one in Australia continue, it would be a good idea for them to examine the fact that evolutionism is n...

Jupiter — the Big Protector

Image
Out yonder past Mars is the asteroid belt, followed by Jupiter, Saturn, surprising Uranus , and Neptune. Those last four planets are called gas giants . The average person may think they were put up there to look nice (which they do through telescopes and astrophotography), but they have purposes. In addition to the asteroid belt, there are rocks and things floating around up there. Those big boys have an influence on celestial rocks with their gravity. The largest is Jupiter, and it has been observed being a protector of Earth. Jupiter and a moon,  NASA  / JPL (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Outer planets protect Earth, but Jupiter has been seen doing so. F'rinstance, Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 was broken up by Jupiter's gravity and its pieces were drawn into the gas giant. It could have been a serious problem for Earth otherwise. Also, a meteor hit is in 2019 . (Interesting that news sources use phrases like "slammed into" Jupiter, but it is gas.) I...

Desert Beetles Drinking

Image
Some weather channels and sites have news related to climates, and they would do well to post about deserts. They form under certain conditions. The Namib is a desert like a strip along Namibia and a bit north and south in Africa along the Atlantic Ocean. It is actually a cool desert (Antarctica is also a desert but obviously much colder). The air is laden with moisture, so there is early-morning fog. The darkling (or fogstand) beetle has a very interesting way of getting the water it needs in this arid region. Fogstand racing stripe beetle, Wikimedia Commons / Hans Hillewaert ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Since water is in the air, the beetle angles its backside into the breeze. Those bumps on its shell help it collect the moisture. Droplets are formed and directed so that the beetle can drink the water. Once again, we see that the Creator equipped a creature with special survival features, but descent with modifications evolution storytellers are unable to come up with a plausible development sc...

Responding to Dishonest Atheist Claims

Image
Right from the get-go, I need to point out that a few things have changed since the article featured below was written in 2019. The so-called New Atheism is fading and several of its primary apologists are losing their impact. Even so, the material and principles are still useful. One of the most obstreperous and arrogant professing atheists is Bill Nye. He makes remarks against biblical creationists and the Genesis Flood as if he has superior knowledge, but is repeatedly shown to be wrong. C. Richard Dawkins and Neil deGrasse Tyson also make false claims about us. Shattering atheism image by Why?Outreach Bill Nye had a highly-publicized debate with Ken Ham a few years ago. He misrepresented creationists and used a passel of fallacious attacks , including equivocating evolution with science . He was claiming that creationists would not have reasoning skills and essentially saying that we brainwash our children. That's a lie, old son. Dawkins and Tyson also misrepresent creationi...

Communication Itself is Irreducibly Complex

Image
One of the most aggravating concepts for Darwinoids is irreducible complexity , a concept that Michael Behe of the Intelligent Design movement named, but biblical creationists have been using for years. Essentially, everything must be in place and fully functional at the same time, or nothing works. Evolutionists try to get around the problem , but although they may find weaknesses in some examples, the concept itself is still is a serious problem for them. They cannot explain how necessary components evolved through time, chance, and mutations. Communication is irreducibly complex. Books of languages, Freeimages /  dog madic Communication requires  expression, reception,  and  comprehension . (Note that in this definition, communication is one way. A two-way communication would be a conversation.)  Trees and other plants in the Wood Wide Web have special nonverbal communication, and critters like birds and prairie dogs sound calls of alarm or help. Verbal comm...

The Journey to Understanding Autism

Image
Several opinions exist regarding the nature and cause of autism, but they are disparate. Many fingers point to vaccines.   Vaccines do prevent diseases and save lives , there can be no doubt about that. Ever heard, "Correlation is not causation?" Children are diagnosed with autism at the same age range of receiving vaccines. That is insufficient evidence, and fallacious.  It has been suggested that chemicals and additives in processed foods play a part in causing it. There are other suspects as well, and deeper research is a must. Symbols of autism, Pixabay / Katamaheen Many people have autism to one extent or another. We may not even  be aware of others who have it. Indeed, some have been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome later in life and others may not know they have it. Autism manifests in different ways, and people may have hidden brilliant traits. Unfortunately, much of medical science is not only based on molecules-to-mycologist evolution, but also has a gre...

Mutants Paraded on Leashes

Image
Big dogs, little dogs, pointed ears, floppy ears, many varieties at the dog show. Get out the leashes and take the mutants on parade. Breeding animals for specific traits has been done for ages, but nowadays it is mostly for appearance. This artificial selection is bad for the dogs. Darwinists and creationists agree that the ancestor of all dogs was a wolf, rich in genetic diversity. Purebreds often have genetic diseases that cause pain and early death in some. Want a dog for a companion? Get a mix, which has many genetic resources to draw from. Basset Hound, Unsplash / Apostolos Vamvouras The neighbor walks her dog that looks like a pot-bellied pig, which snorts and breathes loudly. Special breeds are not only expensive, but high maintenance — and a far cry from the original created kind . Although animal breeding is done through artificial selection, many of the same aspects of natural selection are involved. Natural selection (it is out of convenience to use that phrase since there...

More Dinosaur Tracks and the Genesis Flood

Image
For a long time, it was thought that only hard things like bones, shells, and things could be preserved by fossilization. Dinosaur soft tissues threw secular paleontology for a loop. Also, improvements in technology and skill yielded fossilized things like brains and jellyfish. Consider that footprints are delicate. Take a stroll on the seashore and make tracks. Turn around and watch the waves take them away. Fossil dinosaur trackways in some places need to be studied in a hurry before water destroys them. Others are discovered and they can be studied at leisure. Dinosaur tracks,  United States Geological Survey (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Tracks in Oxfordshire, England, made some news. Secular scientists assume them to be millions of years old ( huge chunks of time are like toys for then ), but that raises a prairie schooner-full of questions and doubts. Consider that these pristine prints had to lay there waiting to be discovered while undisturbed by all...

Deep Time and Geological Toys

Image
Quark-to-quartermaster evolution requires deep time for the propagation of its stories, and also to make evolutionary stories seem plausible in the first place. Geological evolution provides whatever billions or millions of years that biological evolutionists require. One serious limitation in these fields is that secular scientists have been taught to think in evolutionary paradigms. Maverick thinking beyond uniformitarianism is rare. Many scientists are willing to fit in with the crowd and play with chunks of time to make Darwin smile. Doing lazy research while restricting interpretations of data to yield expected results are not uncommon. Geological interests at Colorado Springs, Unsplash / Taylor Burnfield Those canyons in central Colorado? Carved out by rivers over millions of years, they insist. Other explanations are neglected, and the expected conclusions are supported by limited attempts at empirical research. Dating methods based on assumptions and circular reasoning make the...

Reptiles are Smarter than People Think

Image
Up in these parts, alligators and crocodiles are unlikely to be encountered in the wild. Down Florida way, there are many millions of gators and a few crocs, but crocs are more common in southern latitudes. How to tell them apart? In the picture, one is a gator. The the other is a croc. Easy! One more: An alligator will see you later and a crocodile will see you in a while. Joking aside, there are a few visible differences . Crocs have tapered snouts, gators have broader snouts and are darker in color. Like snakes, just leave them alone. American alligator and crocodile, Flickr / Abi Skipp ( CC BY 2.0 ) By the way, judging from their similar appearances, it would seem that crocodiles and alligators could mate. Nope. Genetically, they are quite different, so there are no allidiles or crocogators roaming around. Alligators are often a nuisance in Florida and such, lumbering across the road (residents are used to it, tourists often stop for pictures) or getting into places uninvited. Sna...
