Telling Stories about the Evolution of Sounds

Image
No, nobody seems to be speculating on the origin of sound itself yet, but that may happen eventually. This one is about the idea that Earth was quiet for a mighty long time before life evolved. Then, some things began to make sounds. The physics of sound production and travel are understood, and scientists have a handle on how humans and critters make various sounds. One paleontologist in particular presented science-free speculations based on his materialistic worldview of how sounds from organisms evolved. Storyteller  by Anker Grossvater, 1884 / Source:  Wikimedia Commons This owlhoot began with a naturalistic view of origins and history, then commenced to use the fundamental scientific principle so popular in the secular science industry: Making Things Up™. In a recent post, I mentioned the successful advertising promotion, " Where's the Beef? ", which has often been repurposed to indicate that something has no substance. More recently, " Show me the money "

Geology and Global Flood Paleontology Explained

Image
Defenders of deep time, especially on social(ist) media, despise any discussion of the global Genesis Flood. Many refuse to examine evidence for it, clutching their pearls and crying that there is no reason to consider the evidence because there was no Flood. Because atheism. (One may justifiably wonder if these owlhoots have always been anti-science and anti-thought.) Uniformitarian geology cannot adequately explain many observed facts without making excuses for recalcitrant data, but creation science Flood geology does a better job — especially with an accurate geological model. Coward's Falls, Flickr / Cowboy Bob Sorensen  ( CC BY-NC-SA 2.0 ) Using extensive data, geologist Dr. Tim Clarey and others from the Institute for Creation Research made a map of the Flood effects. If evidences creationists used to support the Genesis Flood were one-off anomalies, they could arguably be easier to ignore or dismiss. Instead, geological features of the Flood stages span continents. Creatio

Insultingly Bad Crow and Raven Evolution Report

Image
Edited 6 May 2022 The family Corvidae (more informally, corvids) includes rooks, magpies, jays, ravens, crows, and several other bird types. My wife and I became interested in (and fond of) blue jays. They sure do love peanuts! My own learning broadened, and I came to appreciate crows, their maligned cousins, as well.  Here in upstate New York, we have the black American crow. It ranges across the entire continental area of the formerly United States, and a good chuck of Canada. We also get ravens in our area, but because of the overlaps in size and a few similar calls, I don't know if I've seen a raven or not. Crow, Unsplash / Jaime Dantas Variations of crow types are known worldwide. They have a (mostly) undeserved bad reputation, and are associated with bad tidings and death. You won't see a flock of crows. That grouping is called a murder . (A picture that I find hilarious is of two crows with the caption, "Attempted murder." Someone pointed out that they may

The Non-Science of Physics?

Image
Generally speaking, the term hard science  applies to empirical sciences that are used to observe, test, measure, and repeat things. This also means something should be verifiable. Otherwise, a hypothesis has no practical value and could be pseudoscience. Mathematics and physics get into the workings of the universe, whether the velocity of the coffee cup your cat pushed off the kitchen counter upon impacting the floor, to astronomy and such. Isaac Newton's Laws of Motion explain a great deal, then came Uncle Albert Einstein's Theory of General Relativity. String Theory 2, Flickr / parameter_bond (Public Domain) There are still may things unexplained by various areas in physics, so new ideas a proposed such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, and others. But they have no empirical evidence. In 1984, the Wendy's hamburger chain had an advertising campaign, " Where's the beef? ", stating that their food had beef, but others did not give much. The advertisem

The Cambrian Explosion and Trilobite Optics

Image
Despite the assertions of believers in particles-to-paleontologist evolution, their historical science is riddled with problems. Sometimes, they evosplain things away. Other problems are too difficult to easily dismiss. A couple of days ago, I accompanied my prospector friend Stormie Waters and her pal Ruby Slippers down Texas way. We picked up their supplies and went to the Brittle Star, a restaurant saloon. We talked and watched some folks playing faro. When what to our wondering eyes should appear but Cliff Swallows, the assistant foreman from the Darwin Ranch, and a lady that was new to us. Trilobite, RGBStock / Martyn E. Jones Cliff introduced her as Stevia Dolce, a new baker at the ranch. Conversation drifted to how the saloon shared a name with the brittle star, a relative of the starfish. I mentioned that they show no signs of evolution, but also how they were designed to "see" with their skin . Stevia smiled sweetly and changed the subject to trilobites. It did not g

Stonehenge and the Biblical Timeframe

Image
One of the most remarkable and recognizable places in the world is Stonehenge, bringing along a sense of mystery. There are numerous candidates for the original builders and their reasons for doing so, but those are only speculations. Why was it built? Perhaps it is because it is on one of the alleged ley lines . Some people think it may have been a temple or healing center , possibly because of the unique bluestones (spotted dolomite) that were transported from Wales to the Stonehenge site. It has been determined that it was set up to be a perpetual calendar. Stonehenge, Pixabay / Simons41 While Stonehenge was known to have astronomical aspects, it took many years to determine that its structure shows mathematical precision. The ancient builders knew that there would need to be adjustments made for leap years as well. (Remnants of the  Cahokia Woodhenge were discovered in the 1960s. Although less ancient, its builders apparently made it to be a solar calendar as well. It doesn't

Deep Time and Evolutionary Inflation

Image
Believers in atoms-to-archaeologist evolution have long proclaimed that time is one of the heroes of their story, and that given enough time, anything can happen. Their stercoration is largely successful because few people consider probabilities, scientific facts, evolutionists' history of fraudulent and incompetence when handling science, and more. That word million  is casually thrown around, but folks generally disunderstand what it means. We are to be awestruck and fascinated when scientists use of the term  millions of years , and that is another way for them to hoodwink the public. Pixabay / Pete Linforth Claims of millions of years (unobserved, of course) are a smoke screen to assist materialists when dealing from the bottom of the deck to get a straight flush of secular miracles. Assertions of " it evolved " are shrouded in deep time. If you watch closely, they even stack the deck to gain evolutionary dates they want, even if it means contradicting other evolution

Blind Cavefish Designed to Adapt to Low Oxygen Levels

Image
Although tetra  means four , here it is a short form of  Tetragonopterus , a genus name meaning "square finned" or "four-sided-wing". Tetras are popular with aquarists because some are quite colorful. The  Mexican tetra  is unimpressive in appearance, and has two forms. The most common lives where one would expect to see fish doing fish stuff, but the other is the blind cavefish . (We had some in our aquarium, and thought they were gentle and got along with other fish.) They exhibit changes that are erroneously claimed to be examples of evolution . Blind cavefish, Wikimedia Commons / Syrio  ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) As in other cases, Darwin's disciples try to bamboozle people by saying loss of traits are examples of onward and upward evolution. Blind cavefish have shown that they are designed to adapt . For that matter, the blind and sighted varieties cannot be considered separate species , so there's nothing exhibited that can be legitimately claimed as evolution

Pristine Wilderness is a Myth?

Image
As people are celebrating Lenin's birthday , which is also Earth Day, they are advocating for the ethical treatment of animals , taking care of the environment, and other decent things. Keep an eye on the radicals who hijack noble efforts for their own ends. There is talk of "pristine wilderness." What does that really mean? Uncorrupted by civilization, some might say. Others would say that it means untouched by humans. When evolutionary thinking is added to the mix, things get...truly bizarre. Amazon Rainforest, Flickr /  Ivan Mlinaric  ( CC BY 2.0 ) There are people who think that humans taint everything, and the world would be better off if there was no technology, medical science, society, or anything else. Humans have influenced pretty much everything, even areas that are considered pristine, for millennia. Strangely, these extremists are inconsistent with their evolutionary ideas: Since we all allegedly evolved from a common ancestor and evolved to the top of the he

Irrational Ethical Treatment of Animals

Image
Sensible people can agree that torturing animals for personal pleasure, as well as having callous disregard for their lives, is wrong. There are individuals and activist groups that campaign for animal rights. However, their positions are inconsistent and irrational. They have a worldview based on atoms-to-animal evolution. If Darwin's version of evolution were true (survival of the fittest and all that) humans should be able to do what we want. By saying mistreatment is wrong, they violate their worldview. In the Christian worldview, however, caring for creatures makes sense. Basement Cat, Flickr / Cowboy Bob Sorensen ( CC BY-NC-SA 2.0 ) It is interesting that vegetarians and vegans use their philosophies as a badge of honor (virtue signaling), and sit in self-appointed judgment of omnivores. To be blunt, they act like cultists (1 Tim. 4:1-5, and see " Vegetarianism Has Become an End-Time Religion ", thanks to WHYOutreach for the link). By saying that something is wrong
