Plants Beneath Greenland Ice Sheet, and the Genesis Flood

Image
Although this subject was discussed in one of the posts on " Plants Under Ice Fluster Evolutionists ," there are additional details that should be considered. Also, the technical parts will appeal to some people while the rest of us read around those and learn something anyway. Believers in deep time think that drilled ice cores provide evidence for millions of years, but there are problems that are not brought to the table. Including faulty logic. Consider that they act as  if evidence can be interpreted in their favor, they win . In this case, if one strips off the presuppositions that hang on evidence like barnacles, it points to the Genesis Flood! Greenland ice sheet, Wikimedia Commons / Eric Gaba ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) There is ice, and plants under the ice. Secularists are surprised because they believe in multiple ice ages, each conveniently destroying evidence of the last so all they have is interpretations  of marine sediments. When ice core data like this and others are

Dragons and an Ancient Seismoscope

Image
When we learn about the genius of ancient humans, most people probably find examples of it mighty interesting. Darwin's disciples who are consistent with their beliefs find these things problematic. Why? The evolutionary paradigm. We evolved some something apelike and stupid, so there should not have been time for intelligence to evolve as well. Check those streaming services for ancient inventions programs. Also, there is that Antikythera device that was discovered on a Roman ship. These and other artifacts are considered "out of place" by evolutionists. Then there is the Zhang Heng seismoscope. Zhang Cheng seismoscope, cropped from WikiComm / Thank you for visiting my page (yes, really) ( CC BY 2.0 ) Seismo...seismic...earthquake... What may be Zhang Cheng's greatest invention is the seismoscope. It was able to detect distant earthquakes and report their direction with the help of dragons. Well, images. Some folks may think that dragons are the pet animal of Chin

Out-of-Place Pollen Makes Darwin Sneeze

Image
Down South America way in an interesting meeting place of Venezuela, Brazil, and Guyana is flat-top Mount Roraima. Mountains like this are said to have been planed flat by erosion, but planation surfaces are troublesome to secular geologists. One reason is that it is not seen happening today. Mr. Roraima contains a small problem: fossilized pollen. It should not exist, but occurs here and in other places as well. Secular dating methods indicate that the mountain is 1.8 billion years old. There was not supposed to be multicellular life on Earth yet. Mount Roraima, Wikimedia Commons / M M ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) Obviously, pollen comes from plants. According to fundamentalist evolutionists, there were no plants 1.8 billion years ago. This is not a new discovery, either, since it was known from 1963. Some secularists wanted to adjust the data to fit their views, even saying that there was contamination. Nope. Instead of admitting that their evolutionary views have been falsified, they put it o

Disintegrating Comets and the Young Solar System

Image
Rusty Swingset, foreman at the Darwin Ranch up yonder near Deception Pass, gave me quite a turn the other night. I thought four-legged critters were roaming around, but Rusty was out there with his lady friend Jacqueline Hyde (who was not quite herself). They were getting quiet viewing of the Perseid meteor shower. When I pointed out that the Perseids peak around 13 August, they knew it. We commenced to discussing comet and how secularist think they formed millions of years ago along with the earth and other planets. Comet NEOWISE over Utah, NASA / Bill Dunford (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Creationists have pointed out that one of the ignored evidences for the young solar system (therefore, young Earth) are long-term comets . They fragment over time because of the sun and there should be none left after billions of years. One of the guns that uniformitarian scientists pull off the rack is the Oort cloud , which exists only in the realm of imagination. It is a ne

Katydid Chews Up Evolution

Image
For some reason, I never thought Katy would, but katydid. Fossilize, that is. And this fossil is extremely detailed, unlike those ammonites and things we find in the river or quarry. There have been quite a few fossils found lately that are very intricate. This katydid fossil shows so much detail, it works against particles-to-paleontologist evolution: All of the minutiae are like their modern counterparts, so no evidence of evolution. We looked at the recurrent secular miracle of convergent evolution . Here is stasis , another popular miracle among Darwin's disciples. Katydid (Tettigoniidae), Flickr / Insects Unlocked (public domain) Evolutionists want things both ways, since evolution is a "fact" and pretty much like an irresistible force (except when it's an entity making choices and decisions), or there is stasis where organisms didn't change after millions of Darwin years. Paddlefish , sharks,   tunicates , alligators,  coelacanths , and many other critters

Mantle Viscosity and Genesis Flood Models

Image
When people need to get the oil changed in a vehicle, the word viscosity  is likely to be used. To oversimplify, viscosity refers to thickness. Drop a pebble in a glass of water and it sinks quickly. Do the same in a glass of high-viscosity motor oil, it is much slower. Maybe a geologist slices into a pie and thinks about cutting through the lithosphere and into the magma, but I digest — I mean, digress. Sort of. That liquid rock down below also has viscosity. This affects the thinner areas of the lithosphere. Earth crust cutaway illustration derivative, Wikimedia Commons / Washiucho (Public Domain) Uniformitarian geologists believe this thinning (deformation) is extremely slow, and creation scientists believe it to be much quicker. Secular geologists believe that glacial rebound affects viscosity in certain areas, but it has been shown to be similar in non-glacial areas as well. Creationists use Genesis Flood and the subsequent Ice Age in their models and find that rebound is much mo

Whales in the Desert?

Image
When the word Egypt is mentioned, several things can come to mind: Arid conditions, the Nile River, sand, Moses, God humiliating Pharaoh, a passel of whales  — wait, what? Sure. Things change over time. Indeed, the Sahara itself was once a nice place to go swimming . Whales in the desert are not easily explained by uniformitarian dogma. Indeed, the Valley of the Whales signage uses the ludicrous “dies and sinks to the bottom” boilerplate story for fossilization. In this case there are numerous whales as well as other creatures. Wadi Al-Hitan (Whale Valley), WikiComm / Guy Debonnet ( CC BY-SA 3.0 IGO ) To have numerous well-preserved fossils (scientists can see what some had for last meals), it takes a catastrophic event. Creation science models of the Genesis Flood provide far better explanations than secular Just-So Stories. In fact, Flood geology here goes beyond fossilization and explains landforms as well. In the grand scheme of evolution, the legs of land-based animals developed

Dinosaur Biomolecules and the Iron-Toast Union

Image
Believers in descent with modifications were aghast when Mary Schweitzer announced that soft tissues were found in dinosaur fossils. That is old news, but less old is the supercilious attempt to use iron as a preservative . Some fundamentalist evolutionists accepted that despite its glaring problems. Another rescuing device was proposed that applied the  Maillard reactions of toasted bread to dinosaur proteins , but that did not work. The secular science industry is toying with a new hope for their rebellion against the Creator. It combines the two rescuing devices. Made at  PhotoFunia  with an image on Pixabay by  Ralph Sure, why not? Since both of those ideas fail, mayhaps putting them together will make a complete answer. That'll be the day! However, like so many other explanations by advocates of deep time and evolution, devotees will pick it up and use it as ammunition against creationists — not understanding its weaknesses. Once again, the evidence indicates recent creation

Enceladus Further Troubles Cosmic Evolution and Deep Time

Image
There was a great deal of excitement about the James Webb Space Telescope, understandable when people saw some amazing images it produced. These were adjusted from the infrared. While it spends a great deal of time looking for extrasolar planets, JWST is also used for closer images. We recently considered the young rings of Saturn and the surprisingly warm moons of Jupiter , and more recently, the JWST revealed something startling from Enceladus, a moon of Saturn. It has been known that it shoots ice geysers ( troubling old universe philosophies ) — and now this. Geyser Basin of Enceladus, NASA et al. , colorized at Palette (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents by anyone) A geyser was seen shooting farther than seen or expected, and it wasn't just ice. Organic chemicals were involved. Where they came from was obviously the subject of speculation, but secular scientists consistently ignore the elephant on the moon. That is, how could this activity be going on today if

Warm Young Moons of Jupiter

Image
Time and time again, evidence shows that the solar system is nowhere near the billions of years in age that secularists expect. Using their calculations, they can only get millions, not billions of years for the rings of Saturn . The moons of Jupiter add further damage to deep-time thinking. The four largest moons (one of which is bigger than the planet Mercury) are giving off heat. According to uniformitarian views and secular planetary formation, this is a cosmic evolution puzzler. Secular scientists need to provide plausible explanations. Jupiter and moons composite, NASA (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The moons are plenty cold for someone who may try to stand on the surface. Evidence indicates that the warmth is deep inside. How? They cannot have leftover warmth from their formation in the standard timescale. Radioactive decay? Doubtful. Tidal heating because of gravity? Maybe, but it requires conditions inside the moons to be exactly right. Then there's t

The Carnian Pluvial Earth History Fiction

Image
Every once in a while, the hands at the Darwin Ranch out yonder near Deception Pass like to join in the celebrations when secularists bring something out of mothballs and parade it like it was actual science. Since climate change is a big subject nowadays, the Carnian pluvial episode was promoted. Most people are probably unaware of this story, but it involves a supposedly wet period of a million or two years in Earth history. It was in the Carnian stage of the Triassic period. Water on rocks, Pixabay / Dominik Fuchs When the tale is told, it is said that this period was important for the evolution of dinosaurs, mammals, and other critters. There was also a great deal of climate change (when it wasn't raining). The evidence is subjective, and once again, a desperate attempt to explain history and evolution fails in light of creation and the Genesis Flood. Lots of story, very little substance This is leading up to a feedback article at Creation Ministries International, which provid

Yet Again, Saturn's Rings are Young

Image
For thousands of years, planets were only known as brighter stars that moved differently than the others in the night sky. Telescopes came on the scene, and more wonders unfolded. In 1659, Christiaan Huygens determined that Saturn has a ring system. With greater technology (including space probes to go up and look), more rings in the system have been found. Those around Saturn baffle scientists with their structures and complexity, defying secular planetary formation speculations. Rings have been discovered on other bodies in our solar system . Saturn and rings, NASA / JPL-Caltech and others (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) It amazes this child how biblical creationists will relate that secular scientists admit Saturn's rings are far younger than they thought , then misotheists mock us — yet we are often more current with science than they are! Scientists are adding fuel to the fire by reaffirming the youthfulness of the rings. Also, the rings are  ephemeral . T

No Love for Dinosaur Soft Tissues

Image
Keep in mind that the word fossil  is often used loosely in paleontology, not always permineralized (turned to stone). Soft tissues and the like have been found for many years, and fossil hunter Mary Anning did paintings with fossilized octopus ink in 1865 . Squid ink was allegedly 165 million years old  and also used for artwork. Believers in an ancient earth were forced to notice soft tissues when Mary Schweitzer announced soft, pliable dinosaur blood vessels in 2004. This could not be ignored. Claiming contamination did not work, so to give Darwin the millions of years he needs his wonders to perform, weird excuses ensued. Dinosaur, RGBStock / Kevin Tuck , modified at Photo Funny In their worldview, secular scientists presuppose that Earth is ancient and that life evolved from minerals. They are continually thwarted by the facts, and have to force what is observed into their presuppositions. It would be in their best interests to question deep time and question evolution, since the

Giant Ants Found in Canada

Image
Think of Them! , the 1954 movie where atomic blasts caused ants to mutate into giants that ate people. Excellent science documentary. Well, except for the fact that mutations do not work that way at all, and it is impossible for ants to get that big . Relatively speaking, ancient ants and other creatures were giants in comparison to those living today. There were ants called  Titanomyrma by paleontologists, comparable in size to a small wren. Secular scientists saw their fossils in various places, but their arrival in Canada did not fit their paradigm. Titanomyrma gigantea , Wikimedia Commons / Ghedoghedo ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) A Titanomyrma  fossil was found in Canada caused no small difficulty to secular scientists, such as how they crossed continents during cold times. Some weird speculations were proposed, but no go. If scientists would tear down the Darwin Wall and consider creation science Genesis Flood models, they would not need to evosplain things with nonsense. Evolutionary scie

Collapsing Arches Make Darwin Sad

Image
Dust-to-Darwin evolution requires huge amounts of time, and secular geologists try to provide them. People are assured that Earth is billions of years old. They protect their belief system includes arguing from presuppositions and neglecting alternative explanations for observed data. Landforms that are supposed to be ancient have been collapsing — often dramatically. We recently saw how there have been large collapses of the cliffs of Dorset . Places in the American Southwest that were supposed to be millions of years old, and expected to last millions of years more, have crashed. Metate Arch, Devil's Garden, Flickr / Ken Lund ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) The guiding principle of secular geology is uniformitarianism : slow 'n' gradual processes over long periods. When asked about the causes of erosion, people will mention water and wind. Something that may not come to mind is lightning. I reckon severe weather, with heavy rainfall and lighting, is difficult to factor into secular pr

Giving Cave Painters a Hand

Image
The long-held belief that Neanderthals and others were stupid brutes because they had not evolved intelligence yet has been fully overturned. They were fully human and intelligent, but Darwin's disciples do not want to admit that creationists were right all along, so they are called "archaic humans." These folks had some interesting cave paintings, and those have even impressed modern artists because of the skill involved. One puzzler was painting involving hands. Some researchers think that they may have determined some of what was going on. Handprint art in Gargas cave, WikiComm / José-Manuel Benito ( Public Domain ) Why hands? Well, a hand is something convenient to portray, and they were done in many caves. One cave showed a difference: missing fingers. It is unlikely that the residents had numerous accidents with chainsaws, and these were tucked away in an area that may have been special. Perhaps they were used to send signals. If you study on it, people use their ha

Teenage World Turtle Fossils

Image
The short article featured below uses an analogy of finding a smartphone in a coffin with an Egyptian mummy, and how people would naturally think of shenanigans. After watching some so-called scary videos, people express truly bizarre opinions: Some would say that the device is proof of time travel . There are things found in paleontology that are just as strange to believers in deep time, but are numerous and cannot be dismissed as one-off anomalies. When soft tissues were found in fossils (not just impressions), some people denied their existence. Turtle Fossil, Wikimedia Commons / Daderot ( CC0 1.0 ) Soft tissues, biomolecules, and other things kind of give the world a teenage look — certainly not a senior citizen appearance. The latest entry in the list are bone cells, proteins and blood vessels from a turtle. There are too many soft tissues to dismiss, and secular scientists are looking for ways to explain how short-lived materials can exist after millions of Darwin years . They

Getting Lip from Tyrannosaurus Rex

Image
Before the predominance of profanity, people would sternly warn someone not to give them any lip. Basically it meant not to be disrespectful, but could also mean to stop talking, or other things. Or get mouthy. Tyrannosaurus rex has been portrayed as giving lip. It may be literal. Like so many other things in paleontology, further studies result in rethinking how critters looked and sometimes how they acted. After examining bones and teeth, some paleontologists think that T. rex may have had lips. T. rex with lips image generated with AI at Bing I told the AI art generator to give it human lips because reasons and stuff. Lizard lips to go with lizard hips... Interesting that it took decades for people to catch on to the idea of dinosaurs having lips, since lips are useful. It is an interesting development in paleontology, but there's no way of knowing if the idea is right — unless an exceptionally well-preserved fossil or mummified body was found. That may not be such a surprise th

Rapid Expansion of Supernova Remnants

Image
As we know, secular cosmologists use the assumption that the universe is 4.5 billion years old as a starting point. This provides the framework for other theories and models. Those of us involved with biblical creation science see that they are constantly surprised when their expectations fail and observed evidence supports a young cosmos ( such as this example ) — and by default, a young Earth. A supernova (-novae or -novas, plural) is a star that exploded. The remnants expand, but have perplexed secular scientists. Veil nebula, a supernova remnant, NASA /ESA/Hubble Heritage Team (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Although the process is uncertain, astronomers calculate the age of the explosion by the expansion of the remnants. Problems have arisen when supernovas that have been observed are calculated to have happened much too long ago in the cosmic evolution scheme. Explanations for the disparities are unconvincing and even raise additional questions. Creationists m

The Real Story of the Petrified Forest

Image
When I was in town yesterday for supplies, I bumped into Lotta Lyez and Al Buehterawl from the Darwin Ranch. Al was excited about a trip to Arizona, since the foreman Rusty Swingset allowed him extra time to visit Petrified Forest National Park . Al said it was breathtaking. He started to tell about its features, but Lotta cut him off to repeat what he told her earlier. It was the same thing in many ways that we hear from deep time proponents about gradual processes interspersed with volcanic activity. The truth is quite different. Giant petrified logs, Petrified Forest National Park, NPS / Hallie Larsen (usage does not imply endorsement) Not only are there thousands of logs that have turned to stone, but numerous colors that inspire people to say the place looks painted. Supposedly, forests were knocked over and were turned to stone over long ages. Also, there are layers of different colors. Those and other details that don't fit explanations from uniformitarian geology. Creation
