The Falkland Islands Wolf and Reduced Date Range

Image
There was a critter on the Falkland Islands that puzzled Charles Darwin and others, since it seemingly should not be there. It had several names such as the warrah, Falkland Islands wolf/fox. It became extinct partly because people wanted to kill it to own its fur. Some pinheads thought it was a threat to sheep. Stuffed specimens exist in museums, and some interesting research involved taking samples of their mitochondrial DNA and comparing it (and mutations) with South American canids. The Warrah may have been a descendant of the maned wolf. Falkland Islands warrah/fox/wolf, WikiComm / John Gerrard Keulemans (public domain), modified at Pixlr So how and when did it get to the Falklands? The DNA testing is problematic for adherents of deep time because it conflicts with when secularists say canids entered South America. There is speculation that the warrah crossed land bridges, or possibly rafted on floating vegetation. New evidence suggests that Fuegian Indians were in the Falklands

Genetics and the Old Recipe Box

Image
Nonfiction books in libraries are usually filed according to the Dewey Decimal System, grouping subjects in an order that many people prefer (unlike the Library of Congress system). This child was reasonably skilled at using the library card catalog . It was a pointer of sorts, indicating the probable place on the shelf where a book was located. More involved was another system, unique to each designer, of recipe cards. Standard index cards were stored in metal or wooden boxes, having details of recipe ingredients and instructions. They were often grouped by subjects. Recipe Box, Flickr / Joy Garnett ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ), modified The article featured below takes a unique approach that shows similarities and differences between the ol' recipe box and the science of genetics pioneered by creationist Gregor Mendel (peas be upon him). Both have sets of instructions for making an organism. Some living things could have similar ingredients, but differences in finer details yield different

Dogs at Chernobyl are Thriving

Image
When Ukraine was controlled by the Soviet Union, a nuclear power plant had a serious meltdown in 1986. People were killed in the explosion and many died of radiation poisoning in later months. A huge number of people from Pripyat and neighboring areas were forcibly and hurriedly evacuated. There is a large Exclusion Zone that was off-limits for years, but now there are people in it. Some areas are too hot (very radioactive) and can only be visited briefly or when wearing special suits. Strangely, the number of offspring of dogs left behind is increasing. Dog at Chernobyl, Flickr / Jorge Franganillo ( CC BY 2.0 ) Intense doses of radiation are usually a death sentence. If not very quickly, then because of cellular damage. Cancer-related diseases often result. The Master Engineer has put many things in place to protect and repair our cells and DNA, but they can only do so much. One would expect the dogs of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to be dying, mutating — and radioactive. Many appear

Adoption and DNA Surprises

Image
The science of genetics, pioneered by Gregor Mendel (peas be upon him), shows that the differences we see in people are from a relatively small number of genetic variations. One may think that people from opposite parts of the globe would have radically different DNA. Nope. What is featured below contains an interesting story about how a Christian couple adopted two children from Asia. There were several instances of Providence involved, as well as love. In addition, this family agreed to have some DNA testing — with surprising results. Family in sunset, Pixabay / Gerd Altmann The parents are of European descent and the adopted children are from East Asia. The differences in the mitochondrial DNA tests were surprisingly small. This fits with what they Bible tells us: We are all descendants of Adam and Eve, and that there are no races. We also see even more evidence that the world was created recently. At some point in your life, you’ve probably wondered about your heritage. . . . Thank

Mitochondrial DNA in Denisova Cave

Image
When given the right conditions, DNA can last a surprisingly long time without breaking down completely. There is a cave in Siberia that yielded information about the mysterious Denisovans, but very little is known about them. Like other people groups, they shared their DNA. This cave had mitochondrial (mt) DNA from three  groups of people, but researchers could not determine if they lived there at the same time. It appears that groups handed off that piece of real estate. There was a buildup of sediments in there as well, but secular dating methods are in disarray. Evolutionists are determined to force-fit different people groups into their classifications, but if they stripped away their assumptions, they might realize the differences between the groups are within ranges of people that we see even now. It would have been even more interesting if scientists went beyond examining mtDNA and considered nuclear DNA as well. At any rate, what was actually found is in keeping with biblical

DNA Troubles Evolution with Doppelgänger Genes

Image
Some people throw around the German word doppelgänger  when they see a person who strongly resembles another, and some people look for a supernatural aspect. (Christian Rock band Daniel Amos used it as an analogy for our sin nature .) While there is nothing supernatural about the doppelgänger gene, more formally known as the Signal Recognition Particle 14, it spooks Darwin's acolytes. Yet again, the science of genetics (which was pioneered by Gregor Mendel, peas be upon him) has been unkind to evolution. It seems to this child that  doppelgänger genes are an Easter egg hidden by our Creator for modern scientists to find. DNA, Pixabay / Gerd Altmann Remember when I mentioned planograms? Those are like maps by which big retail stores are told where to lay out merchandise. I compare those to the evolutionary Tree of Life and clades. Evolutionists have their planograms where living things are expected to belong, but SRP 14 is mighty recalcitrant. Similar living things have similar tra

New Studies on the Venus Flytrap

Image
Although it only lives in a small area of the eastern United States, the Venus flytrap is quite famous. Cultivated versions are available for sale, but in its native habitat, it is endangered. People like to try to trigger it to close, but the Venus flytrap discriminates. The right areas must be touched a certain number of times, then that 100-millisecond trap springs shut. Potential prey seldom escapes, but this plant is still checking on what was caught. If it had received a false positive, it relaxes. Otherwise, it begins digestion after five more stimuli occur. Venus Flytrap, Flickr / Mark Freeth ( CC BY 2.0 ) The entire activity of Snappy has been studied all the way down to the DNA, and researchers learned that the best-watered plants have the fastest closure times. There is still more to learn, and Darwin's acolytes are using typical "it evolved" nonsensical words — nonsensical, because they are used to bamboozle the masses because they have no evidence. In reali

Genetics and the Coffin of Darwinism

Image
It has been said that the works of Charles Darwin on evolution through natural selection managed to kill God. That is the opposite of the truth. There is an abundance of evidence linked here and other places refuting evolution and deep time, but also affirming recent creation and the young earth. People believe because they want to, not because they are compelled by the evidence . In fact, some Darwin doubters are becoming more vocal , and there would probably be more speaking out if they were not in fear of losing prestige or even their jobs. Meanwhile, fundamentalist evolutionists insist that genetics supports evolution. Not hardly! DNA, RNA, Amino acids codon table , public domain, mostly modified at LunaPic Because evolutionists interpret data with presuppositions rooted in atheistic naturalism, they have their biases confirmed — even when the evidence shows otherwise. These are the folks that gave us so-called vestigial structures, "junk" DNA, and other hindrances to med

Mutations Further Wreck Evolutionary Speculations

Image
Charles Robert Darwin took the ancient pagan concept of evolution that had been kicked around for hundreds of years, gussied it up, and speculated about universal common ancestry through natural selection. Traditional Darwinism began to fade, but the modern synthesis  saved it from the scrap heap of history. Incorporating the science of genetics initiated by Gregor Mendel (peas be upon him), mutations  became vitally important. Time, mutations, and natural selection are a trifecta. While Darwin's cheerleaders claim that genetics and mutations support evolution, that is the opposite of the truth. DNA and Mutations, modified from Pixabay / Arek Socha DNA is a complex language or code that is comprised of four letters . A mutation is a transcription error, such as typing an account number of  12 02 1809 as 12 20 1809. Most mutations are harmful. Many have been considered neutral. However, they still add to the genetic load. Consider when running a registry cleaner on a Windows comput

Neanderthals not so Mysterious After All

Image
In the parade of our alleged evolutionary ancestors, Neanderthals were iconic. They were portrayed as brutish cave dwellers. After much time and further investigations, this image was shown to be completely wrong. Living in caves...sure, why not? People have done that through history, and even do so today. It seems that the mystery deepened for anthropologists and paleontologists. To them, Neanderthals could be the Cotton-Eyed Joes: Where did they come from, and where did they go? From a biblical creationist perspective using scientific discoveries, they are not so enigmatic after all. Neanderthal Woman, PLOS One / CCommons /  Bacon CPH ( CC BY 2.5 ), Modified at PhotoFunia It has been demonstrated that Neanderthals had all sorts of human traits but nothing to show simian ancestry. Most evolutionists have reclassified them as fully human, even though there are still some holdouts (because Darwin needs the narrative). Reconstructions show that they clean up nice and can pass as other p

The Waiting is the Worthless Part for Evolution

Image
Russell Watchtower, who heads up the Ministry of Truth at the Darwin Ranch, likes to say that time is the hero of the story. Evolutionists often say that given enough time, anything can happen. Like that silly thing about monkeys typing the works of Shakespeare . Not happening, Hoss. When using the science of genetics pioneered by Gregor Mendel (peas be upon him), human DNA has about three billion  letters. Well, four letters occurring naturally: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). Then they get arranged. Waiting , Vladimir Makovsky , 1875 Our cousins, according to evolutionary dogma, are chimpanzees. If they were going to evolve into humans, they would be much obliged if someone would make up the 300 million-letter deficit between us that chimps are lacking. But that genetic material is not arriving on the Wells Fargo Wagon. In addition, it's that pesky old mutations thing. The amount of time to get even a few letters to line up in a useful way would take bill

Genders Coded to be Binary

Image
One of the frustrations of writing creation science material is the need to say things again, especially regarding things that normal people already know. However, there are advances in science that reinforce the truth of creation. In this case, males and females are different. There are people who deny science and say that we are not binary. One new finding shows that we are different all the way down to the genetic level . There are still more discoveries that our Creator stashed away to be discovered. Man and Woman, RGBStock / Scott Snyder Atheists and other believers in universal common ancestor evolution despise the truth of creation, but except for those in the secular science industry that support political leftism, they realize that they agree with us that there are only two sexes. What they will not admit is that this is the way our Creator planned it. Every computer program, or ‘software’, can be reduced to a sequence of two numbers—zero and one. . . . In the binary system, i

Darwin Deception and Ancient Enzymes

Image
Earth has Rubisco. A lot of it. This enzyme is important in photosynthesis, and some scientists wanted to find a way to improve it. They dug down into Ruby's gene sequences to find enzymes that could be enhanced to increase the production of modern crops. As usual, they presupposed deep time, then added "evolutionary history" and wanted to bring back genes from millions of Darwin years ago. This assumption had them considering so-called important moments in the history of Solanaceae plants. Bell Peppers, Unsplash / Vino Li Rubisco, don't take your love to Darwin town. In fact, the malarkey about ancient enzymes that "likely existed" was misleading as well as poor reasoning — they used modern plants in their Rubisco sequencing. Mayhaps it's because evolutionists can't find any evidence of its alleged ancestor. Such evolutionary guesswork keeps coming up empty because life was created recently. The most abundant protein on Earth is probably an enzyme (

A False Missing Link for Bacteria

Image
Believers in molecules-to-microbiologist evolution are constantly looking for evidence to support their conjectures, and that includes links from allegedly simple to more advanced life forms. Some attempted to do that with prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Remember from biology class that bacteria do not have a distinct nucleus, but eukaryotes are cells that have nuclei and form people, animals, plants and other things. These organisms are observed under a microscope, but one bacterium is huge in comparison to the rest. This bad boy is called  Thiomargarita magnifica , but its aesthetic appeal is not exactly magnificent. Nanographene oxide interacting with bacteria, TEM  Wellcome Collection  ( CC BY 4.0 ) Mr. Magnifica is impressive in that it has (technical word alert) a bunch  of genetic material inside its membranous pouch. Some of Darwin's disciples attempted to say that it's a missing link, but one of the frequent fallacies they have is ignoring other possible explanations. In t

Gene Duplication does not Support Evolution

Image
In their efforts to thwart the work of creationists and Intelligent Design groups, many proponents of universal common ancestor evolution will ignore testing and empirical science, preferring instead to use the complex scientific principle of Making Things Up™. Other evolutionists use this hooey to confirm their biases. One of these is the concept of gene duplication  as a means of producing new genetic information. It supposedly effects evolution, but cannot be supported by actual science. Indeed, one would be hard pressed to find geneticists who believe such a thing. Gene duplication, Wikimedia Commons / National Institutes of Health (public domain, slightly modified) Genes get duplicated, so beneficial mutations can accumulate in one of them — that's the thinking. As with so many things used to support deep time, evolution, etc. asserted by the secular science industry, a passel of assumptions are made. But most mutations are by far neutral or deleterious. In addition, any ver

Junk Arguments about Parasitic DNA

Image
Joe Nexnelsrent dropped by the Darwin Ranch (out Folly Road near Deception Pass) for a symposium on "junk" DNA. It did not go well. Some of these owlhoots still cling to the notion that the human genome has vestiges from our evolutionary past, even though that nonsense has been debunked. Parasites (the Greek root word essentially means "eating at the table of another") are a poor comparison. Non-coding DNA can resemble parasitic behavior in the way it spreads, but it does not drain a host. The science and logic involved should bemarrass serious scientists. DNA background image: RGBStock /  Tomislav Alajbeg People in the secular science industry need  to find ways to protect their evolution narrative, so they make proclamations when they really don't understand enough about the subjects under consideration. This is based on a naturalistic mindset, viewing things through Darwin spectacles, then confirming their biases. Arguing from insufficient evidence occurs fr

Ancient DNA and Overused Evolutionary Terms

Image
Time and time again, Darwin's disciples are trapped by their erroneous presuppositions. They filter observed evidence through their worldviews  and are continually surprised when their speculations do not match the facts. Rescuing devices and obambulating weasel words are utilized. As regular readers have seen, secular cosmologists are constantly surprised that facts do not align with preconceptions. This also happens in biology, paleontology, and so on. "Earlier than thought", "Later than thought" and similar terms are vague but unapologetic admissions of error. They are used in discussions of ancient DNA. One major problem for those of the deep-time persuasion is that they assume the earth is billions of years old despite frequent evidences to the contrary . It was extremely difficult to get labs to carbon date diamonds because they "knew" there would be no C14. Wrong. Dinosaurs and other creatures "cannot" have soft tissues and discernable

Human-Ape DNA Similarities Further Falsified

Image
Riekert Darkens, evolutionary astrologer and part-time carnival worker from the Darwin Ranch, went to the town and gave a lecture in the saloon. He perpetuated the myth that chimpanzees have a genome that is ninety-eight percent similar to that of humans. That was terrible science when it was first promoted. Not only did Darwin's votaries select what they wanted to compare and ignored the rest, but the samples were contaminated by human DNA. Since then, more honest and capable researcher have brought that percentage down to about eighty-five percent . Pixabay /  qimono It strikes this child as extremely disingenuous for evolutionists to not only keep the similarity myth going, but to also act like other obvious details are unimportant. People with a grain of sense can see that we are unlike chimps, despite the assertions of feral atheists on social(ist) media. They despise the fact that humans and animals were created separately; humans are unique. As indicated several times before

The Foolishness of Rail Bird Evolution Claims

Image
Edited 6 May 2022. Rails (or Rallidae) are a large group of birds found in many areas of the world. Many like marshy areas and forests, and several species are found on islands. It seems like with a name like rail , they would be fond of trains, but it comes from rasle , an Old French word. The Virginia Rail   is found in various places in North America. This, like several other rails, can fly. What gets the attention of the Darwin Death Cult™ is that many island species have lost that ability. Therefore, evolution. Not hardly! Cropped from Wikimedia Commons /  Francesco Veronesi  ( CC by-SA 2.0 ) It is both amusing and confusing that evolutionists consider the loss of a trait evidence for their beliefs.  No new genetic information is added , either. Evolution is supposed to be onward and upward, but it is so malleable to explain everything ( thereby explaining nothing ), even loss affirms evolution.  The Bearded Buddha hijacked natural selection, originally a concept developed by a cr

Wolf-to-Dog Evolution Story Barking up the Wrong Tree

Image
Edited 6 May 2022.  Biblical creationists and believers in universal common ancestor evolution agree for the most part that modern dogs descended from an animal like a wolf. Those dog breeds we see are the result of artificial selection , designed for certain traits. They are still dogs and have the chemistry to interbreed. For that matter, coyotes are extremely wolf-like, and have no difficulty breeding with the dogs with which we are familiar. See " Coyotes Have Gone to the Dogs ." Unsplash / Andrew Ly (left) and Kanashi (right) Evolutionists disagree on definitions of species , and have an evoporn story that is presented as science. It's about humans and the domestication of dogs, but has no evidence to support it. Basically, as humans were still evolving, wolves began evolving social interactions with humans around campfires. Then they eventually lived together, and that's the origin of pet dogs. The story fits the evolution narrative and makes believers feel go
