Our Cooling and Shrinking Moon

Image
You would think that if the solar system was several zillion Darwin years old, things would have settled down. Instead, we have planets and moons showing signs of youth . On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 landed on the moon and left behind some equipment (as did other missions). Seismometers on the moon detected quakes. Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin with the seismic experiment Credit: NASA (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Secular scientists were shaken by the data and unable to explain it. The moon should not have any tectonic activity, but yee haw boy howdy, it's there! This also indicates that  the moon is cooling , which it "should be" cold long ago according to secular views. Yet more evidence that Earth and the rest of the solar system were created recently. Scientists have concluded that our moon is probably still in the process of slightly shrinking as it cools. Photographs from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) showed embankments c

Striking News about the World Ceres

Image
For several years, those bright spots on that world have been thought to be caused by salt . After commencing to cognate and get those mental wheels turning, secular scientists are realizing that Ceres is being recalcitrant to deep-time beliefs — like other objects in our solar system.  Occator Crater on Ceres in false colors  Credits:  NASA/JPL-Caltech/UCLA/MPS/DLR/IDA (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) This is not a hit with cosmic evolution concepts. Trying to steal huge amounts of time, they are caught off base. Assigning dates and causes to the salt, secularists still drop the ball because those dates are nowhere near the billions of Darwin years they want to see. Worse, they are not catching on that the activity is indicative of recent creation. The bright spots on Ceres formed recently, say scientists, and activity could be going on today. It’s been two years since the Dawn spacecraft ended its orbital reconnaissance of Ceres, the largest body in the

Further Findings Fluster Space Scientists

Image
Mankind has always wondered about what's up yonder in the night sky. Hans Lippershey patented the refracting telescope, and it was tweaked by other early astronomers. The wonder increased as celestial objects were brought into focus (heh!), Isaac Newton made a practical reflecting telescope, others kept on improving until we got to the huge telescopes in observatories. Not good enough, we had to put the things up into the final frontier. Also, we sent probes to other planets so we could get a gander at them from images sent back. But you know us, we still want to know more. Improvements in technology have led to better telescopes and more ambitious space probes. Unfortunately for long-age astronomers and cosmologists, the more we learn about the universe, the more it acts far younger than they want it to. Our solar system is also recalcitrant toward secular views, as more questions are raised than answered. Now we are learning that Mercury has huge cliffs, asteroids Ceres an

Lunacy from the Moon for Secular Scientists

Image
It seems that our moon is trolling materialists. Secular astronomers and cosmologists have no verisimilar explanations regarding its origin, but they cling to faulty stories rather than admit that it was created recently along with the rest of the solar system. Credit:  NASA  / ISS /  Col. Jeff Williams  (usage does not imply endorsement of site's contents) Some resort to the poorly-considered method of counting craters so they can provide Darwinists the deep time that they demand. Our moon, like others in the solar system , show that they are far younger than materialists expect — or desire. It is cooling and shrinking , which contributes to tectonic activity. Then there are the many paradigm problems caused by lunar volcanoes ... We have a couple of recent items about how the moon is putting burrs under the saddles of secular scientists and defying cosmic evolution. The neat theories for the origin of the moon and its subsequent evolution unravel when you try to stu

"Deep Time" is Not Compatible with Christianity

Image
Science is a systematic method for attaining knowledge that is dependent on the presuppositions of its users for the interpretations of facts. Christians who use naturalistic viewpoints and affirm an old earth are not only showing their lack of proper understanding of Scripture, but set in motion a domino effect of compromise from Genesis to Revelation. Old earth views are founded in naturalism, which has an atheistic basis. There are Christians who are firmly committed to an old earth because of what they consider to be "abundance of scientific evidence". Some are even theistic evolutionists (which I believe are essentially deists), and evolution requires "deep time". Many times, biblical creationists have faced unchristian, vituperative attacks from these people, and they frequently join forces with atheopaths in this derision. (It is almost laughable when people who hate God and his Word presume to tell us what the Bible "really" means; it brings

E-Book Review — Mysteries of Time and Creation

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Cheri Fields is a "2nd generation homeschooling mom of six, minister’s wife, writer, and science lover". She has not only harnessed the power of the Web, but saddled it up and blazed some trails. Her desire is to present biblical creation science to children, so in March 2012, she began her ministry of " Creation Science 4 Kids ". (There's a link in the lower left on this site as well.) I'll let you click around there for a spell and see what all she offers with articles, podcasts, and so forth. But my focus right now is on her mini e-book. Mysteries of Time and Creation: A Short Intro to Young Earth Creation is a free e-book 'xceptin' at Amazon, who charges $.099 USD. (By the way, I stopped posting reviews on Amazon because that company does nothing about trolls who make the review system almost worthless when it comes to creationist and Christian material, so I do reviews on my sites.) Anyway, you can get the free do

Fear and Loathing of Dinosaur Research by Evolutionists

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen, with research by David Harrison This is a great time to be a biblical creationist! Science supports creation and is hostile to evolution, even though Darwin's ranch hands get all het up about the facts and conjure up train loads of fact-free excuses. Some of the more recent events include: The refutation of "junk" DNA (which creationists predicted was not junk at all, and were proved right) The magnetic fields of several planets fit creationist predictions while evolutionary predictions were astronomically (heh!) wrong Uninformed remarks by C. Richard Dawkins and others about "bad design" have been refuted Carbon-14 where it "doesn't belong", such as coal, diamonds, and so forth The amazing complexity of biology, down to the cellular level Stars and galaxies convolute "deep time" cosmology Various planets, their moons (as well as our own), and other things in the solar system are not acting "old&qu

Two Brief Testimonies for a Young Universe

Image
Folks that believe the universe is billions of years old should have been abused of that notion because of observed data. Unfortunately, the atoms-to-astronomer narrative drives the interpretation of information. Dust rings around a distant star? Must be a planet forming, right? Not at all . When a galaxy does not fit the cosmic evolutionary worldview, it's time for " substantial revision ", and they race around like snakes fleeing a brush fire. Other examples of a young solar system ? Make excuses or just ignore them. Here are two more items for secularist owlhoots to ignore. Credit: NASA / JPL-Caltech / STScI (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Blue stars are nice and hot. They are also fuel hogs, so they should not be in galaxies according to the standard mythology. Using deep time reckoning against secularists, spiral galaxies with blue stars cannot be quite so old. Also, we have neutron stars in globular clusters. They should have gotten out o

Another Failed "Faint Young Sun" Explanation

Image
By insisting on deep time and naturalism, and by denying special creation, proponents of atoms-to-astronomer evolution have developed many problems for their paradigms. One that should stop them in their tracks at the onset is the faint young sun paradox . (It is a paradox because it does not fit their belief system.) Essentially, way back yonder, billions of Darwin years ago, the earth would have been too cold after the after the supposed Hadean time (think Hades , as in, "Hotter than the hubs of") to let life evolve because the sun was not strong enough to provide ample warmth.  Artist's impression of the Hadean Eon, Tim Bertelink , 2016 / Wikimedia Commons ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) Since these owlhoots dug themselves into a hole about the age of the earth and evolution, they conjured up some excuses. Two of these are the " solar belch " speculation, as well as the solar flares guesswork. Now they have a new horse in the excuse corral. An attempt to marry up

Stars Killing Offspring Planets

Image
According to the most popular theory for solar system formation, stars are essentially the parents of planets. Staying with the secular model, stars act up quite a bit in their youthful exuberance and do great damage to planets that are trying to evolve into something habitable. Rocky planets (like the first four of our solar system) might not be exterminated if they can fire up their magnetic fields. Earth has one that provides a shield from solar radiation and such, but it is unlikely for other planets under their conditions. Hubble finds blue star cluster, NASA  / ESA, / L. Bianchi (usage does not imply endorsement) Researchers looked at these problems in great detail and realized that the possibility of habitable extrasolar planets has been greatly diminished. They even tried an ludicrous "belatedly habitable" story that eats its own face. When secularists keep trying to deny the reality of the intelligent design of the Creator and of the young universe, they keep wastin

Would Evidence for Radiometric Dating Stand Up in a Court of Law?

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Forensic science is very important in obtaining evidence about the past. Naturally, the more recent the evidence, the more persuasive it is, especially in a court of law. To send someone to jail or certain other instances nowadays in American courts, guilt must be proven "beyond the shadow of a doubt". In small-claims court, someone needs "a preponderance of the evidence". Good thing that procedures have advanced from the time of "Hanging Judge" Isaac Parker, who tried 13,490 cases his ownself and sentenced 160 who were convicted to death by hanging  (but only 79 actually attended a necktie party). Evolution and radiometric dating use forensic science , but we're not talking about what happened last week or a few months ago. Rather, these are the ultimate " cold case files ", supposedly going back millions of years. Radiometric dating is a mite different though, since the measurements of parent-daughter materials a

Pluto Throws Sand in Deep Time Machinations

Image
Mayhaps you were thinking of a cartoon dog throwing sand in the propaganda machines near the Darwin Ranch. Machines do not get along with sand very often. No, if you head over Deception Pass way, you will hear the sounds of business as usual. Besides, they still have the slave Winkie Guards posted. What we have here is a problem for the secular science industry on a much larger scale. Icy dunes on Pluto image Credits: NASA / JHUAPL / SwRI (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) We have seen many times that objects in our solar system (and beyond) don't cotton to being called old, as evinced by Cassini and Titan , among many others. One of the troublemakers for secular astronomers has been Pluto. It showed signs of youth. Now it has been discovered that Pluto has been throwing sand around. No, not the sand on our beaches, but it is still composed of small particles. Astronomers wonder how they moved, as Pluto's atmosphere is almost nonexistent. Yet, the du

Volcano on Pluto Perplexes Secular Scientists

Image
Something that keeps coming up is how science and technology provide ways of learning and trying to understand the universe, but also knowledge thwarts both deep time and evolution. Stars and planets do not act their age, so to speak; they give signs of being much younger than expected. Pluto has shown geologic activity , which was a big surprise. Other activity such as volcanoes  on the moon Io , one over on Mars , the volcano on Venus , and now one way out yonder on Pluto are bothersome. Volcanoes bring to mind liquid hot magma. Those farther away they blast other stuff. Pluto from New Horizons, NASA et al (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Upon examining a crater called Kildaze (named after a Georgian scientist who put a great deal of work into studying Pluto), they realized that it sure does look like a supervolcano that blasts water. It's also a young volcano by their standards. Rescuing devices were utilized, but this activity is yet another testimony that

Unexpected Activity on the Planet Mercury

Mercury is supposed to be a dead rock orbiting the sun. There should not be any activity there, no surface features forming, no outgassing of volatile materials, right? Well... NASA's Messenger spacecraft mission to Mercury has given scientists the opportunity to learn more about the properties of the solar system's innermost planet. After supposedly billions of years since its formation, the planet should be dead, or geologically inactive. New data from Messenger, however, show that Mercury remains active and is still generating surface features.  Before the Messenger data acquisition, astronomers observed that the sunny side of Mercury is hot enough to melt lead, and like other rocky objects in the solar system, many craters pockmark the planet's surface. In early 2011, Messenger carefully maneuvered into orbit and took photographs with unprecedented detail.  Images of the planet's surface revealed unusual, irregularly shaped hollows or depressi

Chasing a Comet With Rosetta

Image
At this writing today is August 30, 2014 and the Rosetta spacecraft has entered orbit around Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenk. (It is an understatement to say that this is an ambitious undertaking, since the flight alone has taken ten years.) The Philae probe is expected to land on the comet in a few weeks, and several sites have been projected . Comet on 23 August 2014 - NavCam / Copyright ESA / Rosetta / NAVCAM And I thought the 1986 Vega probes that dealt with both Venus and Halley's Comet were big deals! Well, they were for that time. It's interesting to me that the Rosetta will be using outdated equipment, because a great deal has changed in the ten years since it was first launched. But "old" does not mean ineffective. Secular scientists are starting with the presuppositions that comets are building blocks of the solar system. By rendezvousing with this comet, they hope to find secrets to the origins of many things, possibly even life itself. Not har

Our Moon Formed Very Quickly

Image
Although Riekert Darkens was away from the Darwin Ranch doing his part-time carnival work, he managed to send them a telegram about new speculations in cosmic evolution. The ranch hands received it with the same joy that the early church received epistles from the apostles. Russell Watchtower read it to the group. Secular cosmologists have a variety of ideas for the formation of the moon, but all of them have insurmountable problems. Believers in stardust-to-stenographer evolution have to believe something  because the truth of special creation is unthinkable. Moon over Arizona, Unsplash / Ganapathy Kumar Our moon is unlike any other that we know about, even making it possible for life to be sustained through tidal actions. It is the right distance for a total eclipse, and there are other factors that make its creation the logical conclusion of observed facts . Secularists are going to balk at the new idea from their own people, but they are thinking that it formed very quickly. Gettin
