Sharks in a Volcano: Relevance for the Genesis Flood

Image
It sounds like a sci-fi movie, Sharks in a Volcano , where sharks are swimming in lava and menacing researchers. (Well, Sharknado  had five sequels, so it could happen.) The reality of the situation is something...truly bizarre. The volcano Kavachi is frequently on the prod, erupting and causing new islands to form — most of them do not last, however. Researchers went into this hot, toxic, dangerous place when the volcano had some down time. Sure, extremophiles exist, but they are usually microbes and such. Not this time. Kavachi undersea volcano eruption, NASA Earth Observatory / Jesse Allen & Robert Simmon (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Scientists found sharks, bony fish, and more living in that crater! Darwin's disciples, being what they are, think this can give insight into evolutionary history of such critters. (Evolutionists are frequently surprised by things, then play the "insights into evolutionary history" card.) From a biblical creati

Evolutionists Disillusioned with Evolutionary Stories

Image
Lisa Myworries, the supervisor of the Winkie Guards at the Darwin Ranch, was rather subdued when I bumped into her (almost literally) at the store in town. She noticed the mood at the ranch and how they go from thrilled to somber. This time is the latter. Charlie's cheerleaders are happy to be told Just-So Stories and unleash the flying monkeys on those of us who are unwilling to be satisfied with the unscientific statement " it evolved ." It has been documented that there are secular scientists who have the audacity — the unmitigated gall  — to doubt Darwin. Pond, Unsplash / Cowboy Bob Sorensen  (cropped) That number is growing. A couple of people published a paper on problems with gradual evolution. "Survival of the fittest" oversimplifies things, and still fails to explain how complicated structures came into being in the first place. Something I have noticed, and Calvin Smith discussed quite well in " Science or Philosophy? ", is that people believ

Research on Naked Mole-Rat Supports Creation View

Image
This is not a pleasant subject, but not because it is a problem for creation. The object of interest is astonishingly ugly. The more pleasant name sand puppy  is not as common as naked mole-rat . Even so, they are under scrutiny because of several interesting traits — especially longevity. Naked mole-rats are different from other mole-rats, and get their name from being mostly hairless. They inhabit one area of Africa. Being moles, they dwell in underground burrows and have a queen in charge. Strange that these mammals are cold-blooded. Naked Mole-Rat, Wikimedia Commons / Roman Klementschitz, Wien ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Why do they live so long? They don't age like other creatures and researchers want to know why. The information may be used to help human lifespans. Darwinists believe that mutations are vital for evolution, but the greater the mutation rate, lifespans decrease and diseases increase. Evolutionary predictions fail. Naked mole-rats were given a highly-efficient maintenance

Scissorhands, the Vegetarian Dinosaur

Image
As we have seen, the secular science industry likes to promote evolutionary myths using dinosaurs. (This post is related to a recent one on that subject .) Also, one may be forgiven for wondering if paleontologists are making much out of little. Its name is  Paralitherizinosaurus japonicus , but because of his scissor hands, perhaps they call it Edward for short. Very little is known. Only three bones were found, but imaginative feather-bearing reconstructions exist. They were partially based on similar dinosaurs. Paralitherizinosaurus  size comparison, Wikimedia Commons / SlvrHwk ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) Although the remains had been known for some time, recently scientists realized that this dinosaur was another vegetarian. Those scythe-like claws were probably used for slashing plants. As with other organisms buried in the Genesis Flood, this one was found in marine sediments but it was not a sea dweller. Jurassic Word: Dominion  took huge liberties that defy both evolutionary and creatio

Stromatolites Before the Flood?

Image
If you take a notion to go hiking in an area of the eastern Grand Canyon, you might come across a line of big fossils. Erosion in the Grand Canyon made them visible. Dr. Andrew Snelling says they look like fossilized giant toadstools. How did those  get there? According to biblical creation science, the Genesis Flood was exceptionally violent. (The Hebrew word מַבּוּל ( mabbul ) is only used about the Flood; other floods have different words.) It tore up everything, and we have jumbles of fossilized organisms from different habitats found together. Stromatolites in Shark Bay, Australia, Flickr / Paul Morris ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) But these stromatolites (which are living fossils, since a few exist today) are nice and orderly. In fact, they look like they were buried before  the Flood (as indicated by the layers and erosion). It greatly puzzled this child how  something like this could be buried, but the answer is quite simple. When God finished creating everything and declared it “very good”

Yellowstone National Park Flood Catastrophe

Image
Regular readers may have noticed that articles from the Institute for Creation Research about national parks have been featured here. This time, we will look at two of them about various features of Yellowstone National Park. Its 2.2 million acres became protected as the first national park in 1872. People may not know that they are t aking selfies with bison while strolling around  on top of a supervolcano , and magma is three miles below the surface. This is why there are so many geysers and hot springs, including Old Faithful — which erupts a bit more frequently nowadays. Yellowstone caldera, Flickr /  AleGranholm  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Secular geologists throw around millions of years like politicians throw around tax money, but it's because the naturalistic narrative requires it, not evidence. The thermal stuff is is best explained by creation science Genesis Flood geology. The park is unique for its travertine flows, mud pots, hot springs, and canyons. It houses over 10,000 thermal

DNA Code Exceptions Cause Serious Problems for Evolutionists

Image
Consistency is something that many people appreciate, often using things they expect to remain unchanged as they go about their lives. All living things have genetic material contained in DNA and RNA. Surprisingly, there are only four letters in it. How they are arranged makes all the difference. One would expect DNA to be the same in all places in all living things, with the code optimized and virtually the same in all living things. This testifies of the Master Engineer using common design patterns. DNA with hand, Freepik / iuriimotov Exceptions to the universality of DNA coding are a major problem for believers in goo-to-geneticist evolution. They have to explain why a DNA message that normally calls for a certain amino acid most of the time, but in certain exceptions, the command is stop . Also, the placement of the code, which would be lethal in the larger scheme of things, further complicates things for evolutionists. Biblical creationists? No problem. Chances are you’ve heard of

Fascinating Medical Research on E. Coli

Image
Microbes like bacteria were designed for their niches in the world, and most of them are good. Those that are harmful have left their first estate (displacement). E. coli  are extremely common, and falsely claimed to exhibit evolution . There are some extremely interesting traits in microbes with flagella. Those are things that look like long hairs coming off the microbes and are used to propel them. Biblical creationists and the Intelligent Design community have used irreducible complexity  arguments . It was Michael Behe who came up with the term regarding bacterial flagella. Bacterial Flagellum, WikiComm  Mora T et al ( CC BY 4.0 ), modified at PhotoFunia Of course, Darwin's acolytes try to wave off irreducible complexity, and misotheists like to have their biases confirmed. But it's still true, and "Nuh uh , no it's not irreducible" is not a valid scientific refutation, old son. It is irrational to say that things only appear designed, but secularists have t

Myth-ing Dinosaur Evolution

Image
Russell Watchtower, who heads up the Ministry of Truth at the Darwin Ranch, is a devious sidewinder. That is an asset in his job. His department has been using popular media and other things to honeyfuggle the public, making dinosaurs messengers of evolutionary propaganda. The secular science industry is mighty appreciative. Speculations are presented in movies as reasonable, even factual, despite lack of evidence. Indeed, sometimes the evolutionary storyline defies scientific truths. An example of propaganda trumping science is how secularists insist dinosaurs evolved into birds, yet true birds existed at the same time as dinosaurs. Dinosaur image from  ICON0.COM at Stockvault Another myth is that dinosaurs were warm-blooded, but that is contrary to observed facts as well. Like modern reptiles, dinosaurs showed inner workings that God designed them to be cold-blooded. (For more about warm- and cold-blooded studies, see " Warm-Bloodedness Not Explained by Evolution .") Cold Blooded, Warm Blooded, and Non-Evolution

Image
In an amazing surprise, proclaimers of universal common descent evolution used circular reasoning. Just kidding, they frequently do that sort of thing. There is a huge gulf between warm- and cold-bloodedness, and the expensive word comes into play: thermoregulation. If you look closely at it, you can figure out that it means that living things can keep their body temperatures within certain boundaries. There are many various methods utilized so they do not become too cold or overheated whenever possible. Alligator and lions wanting you to pet them, both images from Pxhere Scientific literature has plenty of material about, "Boy, thermoregulation sure is a nifty thing, being helpful and all." But evolution is supposed to be without purpose, right? These jaspers often discuss why  it evolved, and that's bad medicine to fundamentalist evolutionists. Except when teleology suits their purposes. Researchers studied both fossilized and living mammals and learned about the uniq
