The Kingdom of Judah in Archaeology

Image
There was a time when even unbelievers had some respect for the Bible, and this included archaeology. As a science, archaeology is about 150 years old, with precursors such as collecting antiquities going back further. It is obviously a forensic science. Scoffers freely use arguments from silence to reject the Bible, claiming that since something was not verified by archaeologists, biblical history must be wrong. That is galactically absurd. Others use the genetic fallacy and assume the historical records of the Bible must be wrong. Lachish Front Gate, Wikimedia Commons / Wilson44691 ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Although the Bible has been proven right time and again, people still look for excuses to dispute its accuracy. One tinhorn disparaged the city of Jerusalem and armies of King David as small and insignificant. Because reasons and stuff. He shouldn't get ultracrepidarian, as those folks have been surprised when their presumptions have been upstaged by reality (see " Ancient Israel

Paleomagnetism and Biblical Archaeology

Image
People have attempted to discredit the historical records of the Bible for centuries. Many times, they have used the fallacious argument from silence that there is not archaeological evidence for certain people or events, so they never happened. The Bible has been repeatedly vindicated. Radiocarbon dating has also been used to deny Scripture. We have seen many times that radiometric dating has serious flaws (including calibration), but when the results fit the needs of the secular science industry, they are accepted. Paleomagnetism provides a calibration tool. Holes in dolerite made by cores being drilled. As the rock cooled and solidified iron became fixed in an orientation with the Earth's magnetic field. This can be read to find out where this part of Scotland lay relative to the poles at the time the rock solidified. Modern Math in Ancient Babylon

Image
With the advent of modern home computers and smartphones (yes, those are also computers), it may be tempting to smirk at slide rules that were essential for computing. Those began to be invented in the fifteenth century, and were vital for the Apollo moon landings. There was a scene in Apollo 13  where a supervisor announced a problem and scientists whipped out their slide rules and began calculating. Although they did not have a computing device like a slide rule, the folks of Old Babylon knew sophisticated computing way back when. RGBStock /  Sanja Gjenero One of my favorite activities when riding the dusty trail is right after setting up camp and getting the fire going, is to read cuneiform tablets in the Sumerian languages. Not everybody is into that, apparently. A tablet was dug up in 1894 and it took over a hundred years for people to tell them of its importance. Eventually, a mathematician came along and noticed that it involved advanced mathematics in Old Babylon.  The tablet w

Metallurgy in Old Testament Times

Believers in universal common ancestor evolution believe that humans back in the thrilling days of yesteryear were not very bright, what with having recently swung down from the trees and all. To go along with that, misotheists like to use the astronomically stupid remark that the Bible was written by Bronze Age goat herders. That remark embarrassed a professing atheist . Someone told me  illiterate  Bronze Age goat herders wrote the Bible. When I challenged him to explain how illiterate people could write, he conveniently redefined illiterate .  Pixabay /  Jean Louis Tosque Those Stone/Copper/Iron Age designations are a fabrication  for the convenience of evolutionary storytelling. (They may have some use related to economic practices.) The idea that the Bible authors did not know about iron is spread by sidewinders who have no knowledge of the Bible, and probably have no desire to understand or discuss it accurately. It's unthinkable that we were created by almighty God, and inte

Raiding Influences for the Ark of the Covenant?

Image
This time, we will ride a different trail than usual. This is about the Ark of the Covenant, which has raised many questions throughout history. Its location is unknown, though there are many legends as to its whereabouts. No wonder archaeologists are frustrated. Try crate 9906753. In the Old Testament, there are many details about the construction of the temple, making of and the Ark, and so on. God commanded many aspects for building it, but not every detail of its design. Some people wonder if the Israelites raided Egyptian influences when they made it. Credit: Free Christian Illustrations Let's ride up yonder hill so we can look down and get a bigger picture. First of all, we do not have any images of the Ark of the Covenant for reference, so saying it had Egyptian influences is speculation. Even so, such influences may not be out of the question. Since God didn't provide a blueprint, builders were able to use some creativity. Indeed, people frequently draw from other sourc

More Archaeological Thrills on Potbelly Hill

Image
A few years ago, we looked at how Potbelly Hill (the Turkish name of Göbekli Tepe probably sounds more interesting) was mostly ignored by archaeologists until  Klaus Schmidt noticed some interesting things . This site has become even more interesting lately. Göbekli Tepe image credit: Flickr / tonynetone  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Remember, believers in universal common ancestor evolution cannot accept the biblical narrative that people were created to be intelligent from the get-go, so ancient sites and artifacts continually surprise them because evolution . This site is much older than the fascinating Stonehenge, and there are mathematical principles at work that "primitive" people "shouldn't" know. Once again, archaeology supports the Bible. The indications are there that post-Flood people designed this location instead of just haphazardly building things. Since its discovery in 1995 in south eastern Turkey, the Göbekli Tepe complex has been a hotbed of archaeolog

Idle Scrawling in the Ice Age

Image
Believers in deep time and universal common descent have a silly habit of believing that humans long ago were stupid brutes, freshly minted from evolving and the ink was not dry yet. Yet another archaeological find supports the views of biblical creationists. Portelet Bay, Jersey / Library of Congress, Photochrom Print Collection If you are on the southeast coast of the larger British Isles facing Normandy, France, you will also be facing the much smaller Channel Islands. They are in the English Channel (the French call it  la Manche ). Doing some island hopping, the second nearest to Normandy is Jersey. Some interesting scratchings were found on a plaque that was broken into ten pieces. They are dated at many thousands of Darwin years old, but their condition and other considerations make the great age implausible. It is interesting that not only did the ancient artist have to do self-expression in stone, but abstract thought is evident — something that atheism and evolution cannot ex

Geology and the Doomed Cities of the Plain

Image
A post was made about how archaeology supports the Bible, and an atheopath said that it never has, never will. To be blunt, that is stupid as well as bigoted. Geology also supports the Bible. In fact, the cities of the plain in Genesis 19:29 KJV that God destroyed have apparently been located . Lot and his family leaving Sodom , Peter Paul Rubens, 1625 Sodom was a big place, and it had some smaller states around it. In fact, it was a nice place, and that's why Lot chose to live there when he parted from Abram (Genesis 13:8-12). When Lot was warned and forced to evacuate the exceptionally sinful area, they  fled to Zoar .  The Bible tells us about fire and brimstone that destroyed the area, and geological evidence has been found to support this. By the way, when Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, it wasn't just a quick glance over the shoulder. It would have been a case of lagging and longing. Remember, the angels compelled Lot and the others to leave.

Examining False Charges of Deluge Story Copying

Image
Hopefully, I can move to a replacement for this awful Google-owned Blogger platform by the end of the year. Like Facebook, they force changes on its users that are dreadful. Atheists and tinhorn "Christian scholars" level charges at the narrative of the Genesis Flood for being a copy of similar pagan stories. If so-called scholars actually did complete research instead of arguing from superficialities and anti-Bible presuppositions, they would not be making such foolish assertions. Library of Ashurbanipal / The Flood Tablet / The Gilgamesh Tablet / Wikimedia Commons / Fæ   ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) As we know, there are global deluge story all over the world. Creationists believe that after the dispersal at Babel, the people took the historical account with them, but they deteriorated. One of the main problems with the idea of the Hebrews copying from pagan sources is that such a thing would be unthinkable to those Hebrews. The cultures of the ancient peoples in question were extremel

Canaanite Genetics and the Bible

Image
Although the Bible is completely accurate in everything it touches on, it has a strong emphasis in history. Archaeology has never contravened anything in it. Darwin's acolytes believe that if the ancient people of the Bible existed, they were stupid brutes.  This is false. Mostly made at  Image Chef Secularists should cowboy up and stop denying that the Bible is right every time! (The secular science industry press humiliated themselves by trying to prove the Bible wrong about the Canaanites , but they only showed that the press are unwilling to do actual research.) These folks were intelligent and sophisticated (morally degenerate, however). Not only were they genetically distinct, but their genes live on, although admixed. A new study finds that the the Canaanites before the Conquest were a distinct people, as the Bible says. A gene study of ancient DNA from 73 individuals in 9 Bronze Age sites confirms that Canaanites were genetically distinct, yet became admixed with

Asking Questions to Investigate Extraordinary Evidence

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Unusual concepts require unusual discussions. A reader of The Question Evolution Project on Fazebook sent us a link to a TEDx Talk about orbiting the earth and the ancient past. Seemed like an interesting subject and it was only about twenty minutes, so I gave it a listen. Then I watched it more closely. Proposed Mars Molniya orbit image credit: NASA (Usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The Talk was given by Roger G. Gilbertson uploaded to YouTube on February 3, 2020. This was in the written introduction of the post: In my years as a writer, inventor, researcher, filmmaker, skeptic, story teller and explainer, I have always tried to keep an open mind about what we do not yet know. I seek the truth wherever it resides, and try to follow wherever it may lead, for the greatest mysteries are often the ones that we are the closest to solving next. You don't believe everything that "scientists say" or obediently run with the h

Muddling Through Another Rewrite of Human Evolution - Part 2

Image
In Part 1, we saw that proponents of evolution have a mess, and they are constantly needing to rewrite human evolution because the facts do not fit the narrative. As we continue, we see that other scientific disciplines are also recalcitrant to evolutionary ideas. Background image :  The Passion of Creation ,  Leonid Pasternak, 1880s Radiometric dates assigned to Neanderthal remains conflict with archaeological finds, and the radiometric dating methods used are based on circular reasoning. In addition, these dates were disingenuously adjusted to fit what scientists wanted — especially when they were more compatible with biblical timelines. The archaeologists discovered that the Neanderthals engaged in the same kinds of activities that modern humans would enjoy. A recent report in the journal Science mixed detailed archaeological finds with stories about human origins. As is typical, age assignments for fossils fit evolutionary time instead of the Bible’s much shorter timeline

Ancient Seeds and the Master Engineer

Image
During some archaeology work in Israel, some seeds were discovered dated at about 2,000 years old. Date is the operative word with two meanings because they were date palm tree seeds. Using controlled conditions, some of those seeds were coaxed into growing. Phoenix dactylifera image credit: Wikimedia Commons / Wilfredo R Rodriguez ( CC0 1.0 PD ) An engineer will develop something for a purpose, and more advanced techniques are included to deal with adverse contingencies. The Master Engineer loads a tremendous amount of genetic information into seeds, and they can die and then come back. More than that, the organisms that come from seeds are also designed to reproduce. Dates are popular for their taste and health benefits, and even medicinal qualities; clearly they are one of God's provisions for humanity. The extinct Judean variety of Phoenix dactylifera seeds grew, their genome was sequenced and agricultural processes from way back when were discerned. The clever fol

Perhaps a Camarasaurus in China

Image
Although Darwin's disciples insist that dinosaurs went extinct millions of years ago, long before humans evolved and set up camp, there is evidence to the contrary. There are historical records and artifacts that have rather accurate descriptions and representations of dinosaurs, such as St. Davids dragon that we examined a spell back. There are many more, including what looks like a Camarasaurus from China. Credit: Wikimedia Commons / Dmitry Bogdanov Creationists accept historical evidence ( including the Bible ) of dinosaurs and humans living contemporaneously. Nowadays, we only know what some of them looked like from fossils and such, but people long ago did not have (or know about) fossils underfoot. They still had some surprisingly accurate illustrations and artwork of what were called dragons prior to Richard Owen coming up with the word dinosaur. An artifact from China dating from the third century BC had detailed depictions of what appears to be a Camarasaurus .

Ancient Israeli City Surprises Experts

Image
Much of Israel has not been excavated by archaeologists because people are living there. The unexpected discovery of an ancient city during road construction proved to be both fascinating and startling to many people. It also does not comport with evolutionary thinking. Assembled from images found at openclipart Sure, archaeologists work on settlements all the time, but this one was a city. Not a settlement or even a village, but a very big city. They found all sorts of evidence of intelligent human work and organization, and for people who built this place long before the time of Abraham, it does not fit "primitive" man ideas of Darwinists. However, aside from tenuous dating methods from secularists, it does fit with the biblical timeline, including recent creation and the dispersal after Babel. One of the earliest archaeological sites ever found in Israel is being described as the ‘New York’ of its day. Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority have be

The Tower of Babel and Evolutionary Thinking

Image
Many sciences are infested with the bedbugs of evolutionary thinking, including anthropology and archaeology. People who work in these fields assume deep time and evolution for the interpretation of data. Those of use who presuppose the truth of the biblical timeline watch as they are frequently surprised by their discoveries.  De "Weinig" Toren van Babel  by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 1563 When discoveries are made that conflict with the current dogma, they send a telegram to the hands at the Darwin Ranch near Deception Pass and have them get to work on the problem. ( In fact, they are having a retreat at Biden's Eye, famous for its red color at this time of year, to discuss the problems.)  Darwin's disciples fudge the data by redating this, that, and the other thing to accommodate new findings. Or they let the ancient aliens folks with their evolutionary thinking saddle it up and gallop away with the facts. Humans were not stupid creatures who hadn't yet

Those Kangaroos in India

Image
It sure would be nice for me to take a trip to 'Straya and see the sights, meet a few Fazebook friends, say "G'day pilgrim" to some stockmen , and maybe see some of the unique wildlife, such as the 'roos. Those critters are one of the cultural icons of Australia, but there is evidence that kangaroos were in India! Credits: cropped from Freeimages / Leena Naidoo , then modifed with FotoSketcher Pictographs that look a great deal like kangaroos were found in India. That is a problem for believers in molecules-to-marsuipal evolution, as they believe those animals only lived in Australia. The big assumption is that just because kangaroos are not found in other parts of the world today, they were never there. Since the observations did not fit the narrative, the evidence was waved off. Worse for Darwin and his death cult, this evidence fits biblical creation science Flood, Ice Age, and animal dispersion models. Evolutionary narratives insist that kangaroos

Dating Methods, Archaeology, and the Bible

Image
Archaeology is a fascinating area of study when it is used properly. It is certainly something I would not want to do, what with carefully digging in specific areas and examining things in the rain, under the hot sun, and so on. Be careful, can't break something important! My back wouldn't tolerate that. (Even more challenging by my way for reckoning is underwater archaeology .) Originally, archaeologists knew that the Bible was accurate, but secularists would still try to find excuses to scoff at it. Credit: US National Park Service One famous case was that of the Hittites. People would say something to the effect of, "Archaeology has never found the Hittites, therefore, the Bible is wrong." That is an inexcusably fallacious argument from silence. It ignores the antiquity of the regions, and the fact that some folks are so selfish, they actually build homes and cities where archaeologists want to excavate. The nerve of some people, living and stuff. By the way

Archaeology and Genetics Study Supports Genesis

Image
Although archaeologists and geneticists tend to get along like farmers and cattle barons in the Old West, there are times when their work can have an uneasy truce. There was an ancient group known by an unflattering name. Do the Beaker  people ring a bell? Actually, it's worse: Bell Beaker.  Although they migrated and did some conquering along the way (and displaced 90 percent of the Britons), they are known for their pottery . While pottery is important to archaeologists, it also raises questions about travel, cultural assimilation, borrowing styles, trade, and so on. Credit: Wikimedia Commons /  Thomas Ihle  ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) Was there only one Beaker culture that did all that traveling and raising hob? There are examples of their pottery in diverse areas, and genetic research seems to support that there were two Beaker groups. While the secular study plugged in the standard ages of man from evolutionary to prop up the deep-time narrative, they did mine some important infor
