Another Cambrian Fossil Frustrates Evolutionists

Image
The  Cambrian explosion  has been a persistent problem for evolution since the time that Darwin roamed the earth. A passel of fossils are found from major phyla in the Cambrian, but no sign of transitional forms. Darwin's acolytes try to evosplain it away, but the problem remains insurmountable. Fossils of some tube-like thingies were previously found that were the subject of speculation. Finally, paleontologists have an idea of what the builders looked like. They got more than they bargained for. Gangtoucunia life restoration, WikiComm / Guangxu Zhang, Luke A. Parry, Jakob Vinther and Xiaoya Ma ( CC BY 4.0 ) As we have seen several times before, so it happens again: When faced with evidence that doesn't fit their schemes, evolutionists ballyhoo a sort of victory or evolutionary insight. Their knowledge of evolution has advanced. No, it hasn't, Hoss. Fossilized, well-preserved soft tissues were discovered. Also, the Cambrian explosion is strong evidence for the global Gen

Amazing Everglades

Image
What comes to mind when someone mentions the Everglades down Florida way? Heat, wetlands, alligators, airboats, birds, sock a little poke sallet to me... Sure, those are some obvious traits, but there is a great deal more to this very large subtropical wilderness and national park . Everglades National Park is an amazing ecosystem, but not just one uniform piece of real estate. There are several systems called sub-biomes . Different critters have been equipped by the Master Engineer to survive, adapt, and thrive there. The geological origin is also quite interesting. Everglades, National Park Service / G. Gardner (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Some of the photographs I've shared on my weblogs included flowers that I later learned were "invasive." They are called that because they're not native to an area and get obnoxious by taking over. They're built to survive. The stories of alligators in New York City sewers are mostly myth. Unfortunatel

Abrupt Climate Changes, Global Warming, and the Genesis Flood

Image
Why biblical creationists are interested in claims about global climate change may not be readily apparent, but this is made clear when worldviews are taken into account. There are several interrelated factors involved. Sciences like climate change and evolution depend on an old earth, and an a priori refusal to admit that God is the Creator and makes the rules. The world will end according to his timetable, not human activity. In addition, secular science is openly supportive of leftist causes. Now, about those abrupt climate changes... Glacier, FreeImages /  ainhi People who have been frightened by doomsday prophecies by secularists should ride up on the hill and get the big picture. Not only do they reject the Creator who sustains his creation, but their track record on predictions is dismal . Secularists "see" evidence for their presuppositions where none exists, omit inconvenient information, or draw conclusions without considering all relevant facts. They fuel panic, s

Mount Hermon and the Genesis Flood

Image
Unlike Mt. Sinai , the location of Mt. Hermon seems to be undisputed. (Certain things about its ownership are contested by nations, but never mind about that now.) As it is with other mountainous areas, it is difficult to identify  that one ; Mt. Hermon has three distinct peaks. It is significant in the Bible for several reasons , such as a border marker and probably the place of Jesus' transfiguration. It has also been sacred to other people for a mighty long time. Perhaps there is something to the idea that it was home to the Nephilim? Mount Hermon, Library of Congress , 1905 People have long been interested in end-times prophecy, and it seems to be increasing because of the state of the world today. Mt. Hermon is a focal point for some views. This child is mostly convinced about the identity of the Nephilim, but people have differing views from their own reasons. I have no interest in presenting my beliefs here. Instead, there are things to consider when people who erroneously

Secular Geologists Revise Age of Yosemite — Downward

Image
Those of us who pay attention to biblical creation science articles, videos, and so on are unlikely to be surprised to learn that Yosemite National Park is having its age changed. Signs of the times? Well, the signage has been revised in several places, making those parks officially younger. Uniformitarian geologists presuppose deep time and gradual processes, so many of their assertions are not based on any empirical evidence. Occasionally, secular scientists want to dig deeper. What they find often shocks the scientific establishment. This occurred with Yosemite. El Capitan, Yosemite Valley, 1903 / NY Public Library Dating methods involve a framework that uses numerous assumptions. Even so, this research overturned previous guesses. While the dates do not line up with those of biblical creationists, they are a great deal younger than previous guesses and put a frown on Papa Darwin's face. The scientists also did not resort to the complex scientific principle of Making Things Up™

Rapid Gemstone Formation and Deep Time

Image
A few days ago, my prospector friend Stormie Waters and her friend Ruby Slippers stopped at my place. (They were taking a break from wedding plans for Stormie and Roland Meadows.) Ruby tried her hand at panning for gold but instead found a nice stone. I have reference material. This was a peridot, and I suggested to Ruby that if it was cut and polished, it might be turned into a fine piece of jewelry. Then I told them that secular scientists have a mistaken notion that it takes huge amounts of time for them to form. Assorted gemstones in a spiral, Unsplash / Edz Norton We talked for a while about how Ruby shares a name with a pricey gemstone, what makes some valuable and others affordable, things like supply and demand, luster, superstitions of powers, and all that good stuff. In the last part of the book of Revelation, God uses gold and precious stones as building materials. Many gemstones are found in granite. The formation involves molten rock, cooling, and crystals. Secular scienti

Enigmatic Clastic Pipes and Flood Geology

Image
Ever see those rocks sticking up, especially in the American Southwest? They vary a great deal in size and are consistently vertical. Those are clastic pipes . Quite a few are found at the Kodachrome Basin State Park , but they exist around the world. Uniformitarian (gradual processes over long periods of time) geologists are baffled by clastic pipes, since clastic rock is comprised of pieces of other rocks that were broken and re-formed. They have several competing speculations on how the pipes formed. Some suggest they also exist on Mars . Clastic pipes at Kodachrome Basin State Park, Pixabay / Aline Dassel Deep-time views are inconsistent with what is observed, and would require some unlikely scenarios in numerous places. (That is, clastic pipes are not a one-off anomaly in a specific region.) Creation geologists agree with their secular counterparts that earthquakes played a part in their formation, but they would have had to have been extremely strong. Also, there is a great dea

Magma Chambers and the Age of the Earth

Image
Once again, a uniformitarian (slow and gradual processes over millions of years) assumption was challenged by researchers who wanted to give something a closer look. Volcanoes have a habit of blasting out lava, erupting for centuries all the way down to a year or so. Some eruptions are more like geological indigestion and do not send sonic waves around the world. Where do they get all that magma, anyway? (Magma is molten rock, and when it is sent through the earth's crust, it is called lava.) Geology is a historical science, and there are magma chambers  below the earth's crust. Magma builds up there until eruptions occur. Lava Toe Forming at Kilauea, US Geological Survey / Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) The Yellowstone supervolcano has a pair of sizeable magma chambers that are detected through seismic tomography , which brings to mind the procedures used in medical CT scans. Radiometric dating has failed scientists, who trus

Rejecting the Dinosaur Extinction Consensus

Image
While the prevailing view is that a big rock from space smashed into Earth, causing dinosaur extinction and the rise of the mammals, it was never accepted by all secular scientists in those fields. There are reasons to doubt that it happened . For a spell there, volcanoes were thought to play a big part in dinosaur extinction. It was suggested that an asteroid hit and then volcanic activity took over. Volcanoes were put on the back burner (heh!), but now someone wants to bring them back. Yucatán asteroid impact illustration, WikiComm / Donald E. Davis (NASA, public domain) Evolutionists have not been honest about the facts. Even in their scheme, dinosaurs coexisted with birds and mammals — which causes serious problems for them to promptly ignore. (Also, the possibility of one or more asteroid strikes at the time of the Genesis Flood has been proposed by some biblical creationists, and volcanic activity is also involved!) Secular scientists thought that the impact caused the volcanism

The Oldest Rocks Before the Flood

Image
As anyone who has spent even a little bit of time examining biblical creation science knows, we emphasize the Genesis Flood. It explains what is observed in geology far better than uniformitarian (slow and gradual processes over much time) ideas. The Flood also shows that Earth is young, and that God judged the world. What seems to be largely ignored are the oldest rocks that were here before the Flood. You have probably heard of the Cambrian explosion , where fossils of critters appear  fully formed . Before that was the appropriately-named Precambrian. Roaring Brook Falls (NY), Flickr / James St. John ( CC BY 2.0 ) This one is where you can find pre-Flood rocks, and there is a planed (shaved flat) surface that spans the continents. During Creation Week, God made the land on the third day, which probably involved raising it up out of the water. A lot of land, a lot of water, a lot of runoff and erosion. Using biblical chronology, the Flood happened about 1,600 years after creation, s

Grand Teton, Foxes, and Mountains

Image
Not too long ago, we discussed some interesting things about  Yellowstone National Park . Now we can go just a short distance south and take in  Grand Teton National Park . Folks in the formerly United States may want to experience nature there in autumn. Many things are happening, including migrations of birds and animals. The wildlife is diverse, and foxes are prominent there. Have you ever seen those pictures that say, " Firefox has crashed ", and it shows a fox half buried head first in the snow? Grand Teton National Park, view from Blacktail Ponds, National Park Service /  J. Tobiason  (usage does not imply endorsement) Aside from being funny to us, foxes have a good reason for those actions. They are hunting some critters by their hearing  — plus magnetism. Believers in universal common descent wave off these fox features with a hearty " It evolved ", which fails as an explanation. For that matter, substitute "It happened by magic", and see how well

Stromatolites Before the Flood?

Image
If you take a notion to go hiking in an area of the eastern Grand Canyon, you might come across a line of big fossils. Erosion in the Grand Canyon made them visible. Dr. Andrew Snelling says they look like fossilized giant toadstools. How did those  get there? According to biblical creation science, the Genesis Flood was exceptionally violent. (The Hebrew word מַבּוּל ( mabbul ) is only used about the Flood; other floods have different words.) It tore up everything, and we have jumbles of fossilized organisms from different habitats found together. Stromatolites in Shark Bay, Australia, Flickr / Paul Morris ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) But these stromatolites (which are living fossils, since a few exist today) are nice and orderly. In fact, they look like they were buried before  the Flood (as indicated by the layers and erosion). It greatly puzzled this child how  something like this could be buried, but the answer is quite simple. When God finished creating everything and declared it “very good”

Yellowstone National Park Flood Catastrophe

Image
Regular readers may have noticed that articles from the Institute for Creation Research about national parks have been featured here. This time, we will look at two of them about various features of Yellowstone National Park. Its 2.2 million acres became protected as the first national park in 1872. People may not know that they are t aking selfies with bison while strolling around  on top of a supervolcano , and magma is three miles below the surface. This is why there are so many geysers and hot springs, including Old Faithful — which erupts a bit more frequently nowadays. Yellowstone caldera, Flickr /  AleGranholm  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Secular geologists throw around millions of years like politicians throw around tax money, but it's because the naturalistic narrative requires it, not evidence. The thermal stuff is is best explained by creation science Genesis Flood geology. The park is unique for its travertine flows, mud pots, hot springs, and canyons. It houses over 10,000 thermal

Myth-ing Dinosaur Evolution

Image
Russell Watchtower, who heads up the Ministry of Truth at the Darwin Ranch, is a devious sidewinder. That is an asset in his job. His department has been using popular media and other things to honeyfuggle the public, making dinosaurs messengers of evolutionary propaganda. The secular science industry is mighty appreciative. Speculations are presented in movies as reasonable, even factual, despite lack of evidence. Indeed, sometimes the evolutionary storyline defies scientific truths. An example of propaganda trumping science is how secularists insist dinosaurs evolved into birds, yet true birds existed at the same time as dinosaurs. Dinosaur image from  ICON0.COM at Stockvault Another myth is that dinosaurs were warm-blooded, but that is contrary to observed facts as well. Like modern reptiles, dinosaurs showed inner workings that God designed them to be cold-blooded. (For more about warm- and cold-blooded studies, see " Warm-Bloodedness Not Explained by Evolution .") Learning from Bad Papers in Sedimentology

Image
Everyone here knows what sediment is, right? "You mean getting emotional about the past, like 'I'm Getting Sedimental Over You', Cowboy Bob?" A couple of letters off, that song and what you're describing is Sentimental . Sediment is the dirt, small stones, and so on that are transported by rivers. When they are moving quickly, they carry more and heavier stuff, and when the water slows, things drop out of it. Come on, you all knew that even though I over-simplified it. A branch of geology is dedicated to the study of all this and has the sensible name of sedimentology . Sediment-laden water from a tributary, entering the clearer Chattahoochee River / USGS , Public Domain (endorsement of site contents not implied) We have seen numerous times that secular journals and the secular peer review process have numerous difficulties. Some of the peer review problems are from Darwinists consistently living the morality of their worldview and doing what they feel makes t

Yellowstone 2022 Flooding and Rethinking Deep Time

Image
Something that this child does not get weary of saying is never underestimate the power of water ! Videos of people trying to drive through flash floods and getting trapped when their cars are swept away, mudslides causing destruction, and more should warn people. Yellowstone National Park (the first ever, from 1872) was an example of quick flooding in June, 2022. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths (that I could find reported). There was great deal of damage, but repair efforts were undertaken and things are much better now. Uniformitarian geologists have been rethinking their beliefs lately. Yellowstone N.P. north entrance road damage, National Park Service / Doug Kraus (usage does not imply endorsement) A report said this flooding was a "once in a thousand year event" or "once a century flood, which is silly because nobody was there to see previous big floods. Secular scientists are finally comparing Yellowstone's fossil forests with mudflows from Mount

Asia Data for the Genesis Flood

Image
Despite the common misconception of scientists going to and fro on the earth, collecting data and then forming theories, they have existing ideas and try to see if data support them. From there, they build theories and all that good stuff. Like their secular counterparts, biblical creation scientists try to do the same. Unfortunately, the secular science industry has a passel of grotzits to spend on their pursuits, but creationists are severely limited, having to rely on donations instead. Even so, the Institute for Creation Research has been gathering data to support Genesis Flood models. Grand Canyon of Thailand, Pxhere / icon0com Another similarity between creation and secular scientists is disagreement. Scientists put forward an idea and sometimes passionately defend it, others reject it and present their own. As it happens with secular scientists, it occurs with creationists. They do agree that the Bible is true, the earth is young, and there was a global Flood. One disagreement i

Explaining Dry Valleys on the Jurassic Coast

Image
Linked below is a technical article dealing with the geology of the Jurassic Coast, but if this child can learn something from it, so can you. Since such articles are written more for people with scientific backgrounds than for folks like us, they contain specialized language. One is geomorphology , the study of changes in land features ( geo and morph ). The predominant word  periglaciation was new to me so I had to look it up . It involves permafrost areas, and uniformitarian (slow and gradual processes over long periods of time) geologists believe that periglaciation, which is the freezing, thawing, and land-shaping that occurred around glaciers, may have formed the dry valleys of the Jurassic Coast. Jurassic Coast, Dorset; Pixabay /  Roman Grac Dry valleys are dry. That is, no rivers flow through them. Secular scientists expect rivers to carve out valleys over long periods of time. They have twenty possible explanations for the dry valleys. Periglaciation is the one they like bes

Creation Science Predictions of Seafloor Spreading Confirmed

Image
Over yonder past Deception Pass, you can find the Darwin Ranch. Rusty Swingset is the foreman. He can be pleasant when he is not overworked or moody. Today he is on the prod because of a report on the seafloor spreading. This involves that fun phrase, oceanic plate subduction . The idea that the earth has moving plates on its outer shell, some of them continent-size, began to take hold in the 1960s. When they collide, something has to give. That is where one plate asserts dominance and the other is pushed underneath. What has been observed is troubling to uniformitarian geologists. World Ocean Floor, Library of Congress / H. Berann et al. Uniformitarianism is the secular doctrine that geological processes were slow and gradual over great periods of time. Plate tectonics  is the description of how those plates are moving (the older theory was called continental drift ). Right now, they're moving, subducting, and so on at a slow and constant rate. The predominant view of biblical cre

Disarming Chicxulub Dinosaur Casualty Story

Image
As you probably know, the story that big space rock smacked the earth near Chicxulub caused the extinction of the dinosaurs (which was selective in what critters it made extinct) is the prevailing view. Not all secularists support idea. Neither do creationists, for several important reasons . Up North Dakota way, scientists found a limb from a dinosaur known as a  Thescelosaurus , a wonder lizard. "Was it called that because it wondered where its limb went, Cowboy Bob?" Good possibility. So, the impact was in Mexico, but the limb is found in North Dakota... Asteroid and Earth, FreeDigitalPhotos / Idea go There were other assorted animals at the site as well. In addition to some absurd statements about the rock column, secularists are making claims that the shock waves from Chicxulub went around the world. That would provide selective devastation, but they are also invoking flood scenarios. They're getting closer to the globally catastrophic Genesis Flood, which is the sup
