Short-armed Dinosaurs and Convergence Fantasies

Image
Way down Argentina way, paleontologists found themselves a new dinosaur, and named it Meraxes gigas after a critter in George R.R. Martin stories. They were cleaning and studying it for about ten years. The skeleton is said to be more complete than any others of this type. They were so thrilled, this thing was given its own genus. M. gigas  was like T. rex  in body structure, including short arms and a big head. This bad boy was supposedly stomping around about twenty million Darwin years before T. rex  lived. Interesting that tyrannosaurid fossils have not been discovered in the Southern Hemisphere.   Excellent artwork of Meraxes gigas , WikiComm / Carlos Papolio  ( CC BY-SA 4.0 ) As regular readers have seen, evidence for the evolution of dinosaurs is based on stories and graphics, not facts. Riding along the science trail, consistency, logic, and other things dropped with loud plops. The secular non-science miracle of convergent evolution  was invoked to explain big heads and small

Big Bang Opposed by Stars

Image
The Big Bang has been frequently Frankensteined with rescuing devices when observed data do not fit the deep-time narrative. After all, it has very little resemblance to what was proposed early in the twentieth century. Biblical creationists are not the only ones who reject the Big Bang . Some folks think that, according to their physics, the universe should not even exist ! Others are beginning to ride for the oscillating universe brand again . A new observation may cause more secularists to abandon the Big Bang, or at least do some more Frankensteining to salvage it. Tucana Dwarf Galaxy and 47 Tucanae, ESA / Hubble & NASA (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) It is thought that there is a supermassive black hole at the center of our own Milky Way galaxy. (Fun fact: Galaxy  is ultimately derived from the Greek word  galaxías , part of which means milk .) A black hole cannot be observed because of its immense gravitational force — not even light can escape. They eat

Mammoth Mysteries Explained by the Genesis Flood

Image
Uniformitarian (slow and gradual processes) scientists are baffled by the woolly mammoths, those elephants frequently associated with the Ice Age. These critters primarily lived in the upper areas of the Northern Hemisphere. A huge mystery is why they went extinct. Among the millions of remains, those found in permanently frozen soil way up north baffles secularists the most. These areas did not have glaciers, so they are not found in glacier ice. Imaginative speculations about these mysteries have stampeded for many years. Mammoths image, Flickr /  Andrew Wilkinson  ( CC BY-SA 2.0 ) Some people think (and I bought into this years ago) that they were frozen very quickly. A reason people got that idea is because food was still in their stomachs. That concept fails for several reasons, including elephant stomach biology and the fact that they died in different seasons, not all at once. These and other problems for evolutionists are answered by using biblical creation science models of t

Explaining Dry Valleys on the Jurassic Coast

Image
Linked below is a technical article dealing with the geology of the Jurassic Coast, but if this child can learn something from it, so can you. Since such articles are written more for people with scientific backgrounds than for folks like us, they contain specialized language. One is geomorphology , the study of changes in land features ( geo and morph ). The predominant word  periglaciation was new to me so I had to look it up . It involves permafrost areas, and uniformitarian (slow and gradual processes over long periods of time) geologists believe that periglaciation, which is the freezing, thawing, and land-shaping that occurred around glaciers, may have formed the dry valleys of the Jurassic Coast. Jurassic Coast, Dorset; Pixabay /  Roman Grac Dry valleys are dry. That is, no rivers flow through them. Secular scientists expect rivers to carve out valleys over long periods of time. They have twenty possible explanations for the dry valleys. Periglaciation is the one they like bes

Creation Science Predictions of Seafloor Spreading Confirmed

Image
Over yonder past Deception Pass, you can find the Darwin Ranch. Rusty Swingset is the foreman. He can be pleasant when he is not overworked or moody. Today he is on the prod because of a report on the seafloor spreading. This involves that fun phrase, oceanic plate subduction . The idea that the earth has moving plates on its outer shell, some of them continent-size, began to take hold in the 1960s. When they collide, something has to give. That is where one plate asserts dominance and the other is pushed underneath. What has been observed is troubling to uniformitarian geologists. World Ocean Floor, Library of Congress / H. Berann et al. Uniformitarianism is the secular doctrine that geological processes were slow and gradual over great periods of time. Plate tectonics  is the description of how those plates are moving (the older theory was called continental drift ). Right now, they're moving, subducting, and so on at a slow and constant rate. The predominant view of biblical cre

Oblivious Evolutionists and Fossil Insect Predation

Image
Several times in the past, I have mentioned Darwin spectacles. That is a metaphor for an evolutionary worldview that colors and distorts what is observed so owners believe things can only be explained from an evolutionary perspective. Mayhaps I should cobble the picture I have so that it includes blinders . Evolutionists can get so conditioned in their thinking that they become oblivious to how they are making much out of nothing. Fossils show that beetles burrowed into coconuts, but the report is actually meaningless. Coconuts, Pixnio / Toper Domingo They burrowed when fossilization happened, they do it today. Also, beetles have always been beetles (with the exception of John, Paul, George, and Ringo). Insects interact with plants, as any grower knows. But the blinkered bespectacled writers of the paper "see" millions of Darwin years, but do not ask questions that should be obvious. They certainly  are unable to see that the evidence easily supports recent creation. Some re

Mount St Helens, Arthropods, and the Genesis Flood

Image
One way to feel small is to look up into the night sky at the vastness of the heavens, then be amazed that the Creator cares about us (Psalm 8:3-5). Something less profound but still interesting is how we are outnumbered by arthropods , comprising eighty-four percent of living creatures. Arthropods come in a huge variety such as crabs, lobsters, insects, and so on. The Master Engineer designed them to populate and repopulate ecosystems. One dramatic example of this is in the aftermath of the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption. Grasshopper, Unsplash / Clara Metivier Beukes Before climbing that mountain, there are some things that should be noted. It is entirely reasonable to expect claims of biblical creationists regarding the global Flood to be supported by physical evidence. This weblog has hundreds of such posts that link to creation science articles on that subject, so that's not a difficulty. Creationists make some big claims about the devastation of the Flood, and those are suppor

Lignite in Iceland and the Genesis Flood

Image
Ever hear of peat? That and peat moss grow in boggy places, and they contain decaying plant material. They are acidic and help improve soil. Kick it up a notch and we get lignite, which is called brown coal. It has noticeable plant material. Lignite has uses, but less energy output than true coals. Lignite was found in Iceland, and the plants of the lignite beds were preserved by lava layers on top of each other. Uniformitarian scientists are baffled as to how some plants reached Iceland in the first place. Lignite Brown Coal, WikiComm / Anton Lefterov  ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) The usual belief is that plants were buried where they grew, but there is no evidence that several of the plants in the Icelandic lignite ever lived there. Some plants can reach remote islands through various means. A few of those in the lignite, however, are not good travelers. Secular scientists suggested ad hoc rescuing devices, but once again, the best explanation for what is observed is found in creation science G

Galaxies Rudely Surprise Cosmologists

Image
People have worldviews by which they live their lives. They interpret all kinds of evidence, and obviously, that includes scientists. From that worldview, scientists have speculations, hypotheses, theories, and all that good stuff. They have expectations and models that are expected to support their ideas. The prevailing viewpoint in cosmogony and cosmology is the Big Bang, so if that were true, observations should fit the models, yes? After the great cosmic inflation, stars formed, exploded, caused other stars and planets, then eventually particles-to-planetologist evolution would occur. Starburst Galaxy Messier 82 from Hubble,  NASA  / ESA / The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA) (usage does not imply endorsement) Stars and galaxies are in the wrong place and time according to secular views. As usual, rescuing devices and excuses were utilized to explain away what are further problems for old universe cosmology. Such discoveries are well in keeping with biblical views of recent creati

The Cambrian Explosion and Trilobite Optics

Image
Despite the assertions of believers in particles-to-paleontologist evolution, their historical science is riddled with problems. Sometimes, they evosplain things away. Other problems are too difficult to easily dismiss. A couple of days ago, I accompanied my prospector friend Stormie Waters and her pal Ruby Slippers down Texas way. We picked up their supplies and went to the Brittle Star, a restaurant saloon. We talked and watched some folks playing faro. When what to our wondering eyes should appear but Cliff Swallows, the assistant foreman from the Darwin Ranch, and a lady that was new to us. Trilobite, RGBStock / Martyn E. Jones Cliff introduced her as Stevia Dolce, a new baker at the ranch. Conversation drifted to how the saloon shared a name with the brittle star, a relative of the starfish. I mentioned that they show no signs of evolution, but also how they were designed to "see" with their skin . Stevia smiled sweetly and changed the subject to trilobites. It did not g

Deep Time and Evolutionary Inflation

Image
Believers in atoms-to-archaeologist evolution have long proclaimed that time is one of the heroes of their story, and that given enough time, anything can happen. Their stercoration is largely successful because few people consider probabilities, scientific facts, evolutionists' history of fraudulent and incompetence when handling science, and more. That word million  is casually thrown around, but folks generally disunderstand what it means. We are to be awestruck and fascinated when scientists use of the term  millions of years , and that is another way for them to hoodwink the public. Pixabay / Pete Linforth Claims of millions of years (unobserved, of course) are a smoke screen to assist materialists when dealing from the bottom of the deck to get a straight flush of secular miracles. Assertions of " it evolved " are shrouded in deep time. If you watch closely, they even stack the deck to gain evolutionary dates they want, even if it means contradicting other evolution

Ancient DNA and Overused Evolutionary Terms

Image
Time and time again, Darwin's disciples are trapped by their erroneous presuppositions. They filter observed evidence through their worldviews  and are continually surprised when their speculations do not match the facts. Rescuing devices and obambulating weasel words are utilized. As regular readers have seen, secular cosmologists are constantly surprised that facts do not align with preconceptions. This also happens in biology, paleontology, and so on. "Earlier than thought", "Later than thought" and similar terms are vague but unapologetic admissions of error. They are used in discussions of ancient DNA. One major problem for those of the deep-time persuasion is that they assume the earth is billions of years old despite frequent evidences to the contrary . It was extremely difficult to get labs to carbon date diamonds because they "knew" there would be no C14. Wrong. Dinosaurs and other creatures "cannot" have soft tissues and discernable

Venus and Mars are not Right for Life

Image
Although none of the hypotheses trotted out to explain the origin of the solar system are successful, the flawed  nebular hypothesis  (accretion) is the best of the worst , so that is what secular cosmologists use. It also brings additional problems and raises numerous questions. That big swirl supposedly formed the sun and all the planets. Although Venus, Earth, and Mars have superficial similarities, there are several important differences. Venus has an extremely slow rotation, and runs the opposite of the other planets, for one. Includes images from NASA, especially  STS-116  (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) It would seem that Mercury, that rock closest to the sun, would be the hottest planet. Venus is far hotter because of trapped heat from greenhouse gasses. Secularists want to know why, but thwart themselves from getting real answers by presupposing a faulty origin of the universe — also, by fanatically believing in and assuming evolution. Hope for finding life

Michigan Pictured Rocks and Flood Geology

Image
People who are looking for outdoor recreation should seriously consider the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, as there are many activities available. Spending time outdoors is good for people . Go straight up through the mitten, across the Mackinac Bridge, further north to Paradise. Then find the Tahquamenon Falls State Park . East from there is Munising and  Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore . For even more intense nature, head further east to the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park . (Plan your trip, unlike Clark Griswold going to Walley World.) You'll thank me later. Creation geologists should spend much more time researching up there. Flickr / calamity_sal  ( CC BY 2.0 ) Actually, we do have an article about one of the stops suggested above, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. (Suzie doesn't sell seashells there, but Lucy loves lichens by the lakeshore.) There is a lot of talk about state and national parks, but a national lakeshore ? Sure. The US National Park Service take

Rutland Sea Dragon Discovered

Image
The county of Rutland was famous for being the home of The Rutles , now they gained further attention by the discovery of the largest fish lizard fossil yet. It is rather interesting that an ichthyosaurid was discovered when a reservoir in Rutland was built, this one was found when one was drained. A thorough examination is expected to take possibly two years. (Rusty Swingset offered to send Dewey Lye and Cliff Swallows over from the Darwin Ranch, but local paleontologists declined.) No word if they contacted the nearby CMI's UK/Europe Leicester office for assistance. Platypterigius kiprjanov  by Dmitry Bogdanov at Wikimedia Commons ( CC BY 3.0 ), mostly modified at PhotoFunia It seems critters that spent all of their time in the sea would be fish or perhaps mammals, but these have features found in other reptiles. Is that a peculiarity of the time of the dinosaurs? There were other interesting things found as well. For one thing, it appears that another ichthyosaur was going to d

Dinosaurs and Dragon Art

Image
When believers in universal common descent evolution are faced with facts contrary to deep time, they get mighty agitated, trying to find rescuing devices to keep the faith. When fossils containing soft tissues in dinosaurs and other critters were found, their excuses failed. Darwin requires millions of years to perform his magick, and secular scientist gladly manufacture ways to provide them. Dinosaurs allegedly became extinct about sixty-five million years ago, but dismissals of historical accounts and artwork are not acceptable to inquiring people. Shunosaurus, Wikimedia Commons / Smokeybjb (background colors added) ( CC BY-SA 3.0 ) We have examined several instances of art from dates that are reasonably precise. They were referred to as dragons  back then. Misotheists wave them off with remarks like, "Can't happen. Because evolution. You're stupid, haw, haw, haw!" Some "scientific" explanations are...truly bizarre. What those people (as well as more int

Why Atheists Despise the Genesis Flood

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  When unbelievers assault the Bible, God, Jesus, miracles, and so forth, they make attacking the first eleven chapters of Genesis a priority. Something I learned long ago is that they are likely to receive more resistance when railing against the Resurrection and so forth, but Genesis is foundational to the gospel message. Since Christians ceded science to secularists, embracing deep time and evolution, atheists have Churchian allies in bushwhacking biblical creationists and Genesis — and undermining biblical foundations. It is interesting that people who claim to "lack belief" in God spend so much time being vindictive, abusive, and bigoted toward Christians. Their primary focus is the true God as explained in the Bible. Not Thor. Not the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. Not much time is spent on Islam, either. They hate God and suppress the truth (Romans 1:18-23). But why? I have a few reasons assembled from Scripture and my experiences. Pixabay /  Ria So

Rings of Saturn Stress Deep Time Proponents

Image
We have seen numerous times that celestial bodies have been recalcitrant to cosmic evolution and deep time beliefs. Stars, planets, all that good stuff may appear to be billions of years old, but people often get that idea because they accept the opinions of secular scientists. Space is a busy place, what with comets, asteroids, orbital motions, and unseen things such as gravity and radiation. These things affect each other as well as larger objects in the cosmos. No wonder the rings of Saturn cause consternation to naturalists. Artist's conception of Cassini and Saturn,   NASA / JPL  (useage does not imply endorsement of site contents) NASA sent Cassini up there to tool around for about thirteen years, and many interesting things were reported back about Saturn, its moons, radio emissions, rings, and more. Unfortunately for secularists, numerous things were found that refuted deep time and prompted a passel of rescuing devices. Thermal stress (such as on our moon) disrupts the ri

Secular Geologist Getting Closer to the Truth

Image
For many years, the secular science industry has relied on a uniformitarian (slow and gradual, the present is the key to the past) paradigm. After all, Darwin requires deep time so he can work his evolutionary miracles and secular geologists obediently provide it. In many cases, the narrative take priority over the evidence and proper scientific investigation. Fortunately for science, this is not always the case. Occasionally, scientists are willing to question the prevailing paradigm, which would be good for secular geology. Royal Gorge Bridge near Cañon City, US National Weather Service  (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Sometimes while doing research, scientists are prompted to think about how their existing framework needs serious retooling. One scientist found evidence of tremendous flooding in many areas. He suggested prolonged floods, but Royal Gorge and the Rocky Mountains do not cooperate with that. He had other ideas that didn't quite fit. He's getti

Obscuring the Origin of Continental Crusts

Image
Secular geologists have long struggled to fit the origin of Earth's continental crust into their uniformitarian paradigm. While scientists can see ocean ridges giving up oceanic crust at the seafloor, continents are composed of a different kind of crust. The hot filling for the crusts is actually the magma underneath.  Of course, these geologists get ideas and then they try to make them look plausible. They have assertions based on what their naturalistic narrative demands, but their views are seldom supported by evidence. My photo of a rock formation near Hurley, NY, modified at  PhotoFunia A study relied on the assumption that the crusts all popped up at once 2.5 billion years ago, but there is no evidence for this. Imagination, you betcha. Based on that forming-at-the-same-time assumption, only a comparatively small belt of rock was tested. It did not go well. The origin of the continental crust continues to baffle secular geologists who often refer to this mystery as the "
