The Ice Age, Climate Change, and a Tonga Volcano

Image
On some enchanted evening, you may want to journey the south Pacific from Hawai'i to New Zealand. On the way, you will see the archipelago Kingdom of Tonga. It has 136 islands, but people only live on 36 of them. Most of those are on the largest island, Tongatapu. There was a big volcanic eruption. The volcano Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai is one of those that is mostly submerged and sticks up out of the ocean. It is some distance from the main island, but it made an impression. Satellite view of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai erupting, cropped from  NASA et alia , (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Eruptions are unpredictable. Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai had erupted throughout its history, and several have occurred since 2009. HT-HH had been making noise for a few weeks more recently, presenting a minor eruption. The eruption on 15 January 2022 caused tsunamis, the shock wave was heard all the way to Alaska, and Australia and other areas had to deal with ash com

Darwinism, the Little Ice Age, and Consensus Science

Image
One area where scientific consensus is lacking is the date range of the Little Ice Age  (LIA), some believing it began in the 1300s and ending around 1850. It was not just one long cold period with major glaciation, but several decreases in temperature. The LIA was in North Atlantic regions, and it was devastating for people living in affected regions. Researchers recently determined the cause of the LIA, and it was not only surprising, but seem contradictory. It appears that the LIA was caused by complicated processes including a warm period. The Frozen Thames , Abraham Hondius, 1677 / Wikimedia Commons As it is with universal common descent evolution, scientists make global climate change analyses and predictions based on insufficient information. In fact, evolutionists and climate alarmists often suppress scientific evidence that is contrary to their narrative. The word  hubris  comes to mind. As I keep insisting, the true spirit of scientific investigation involves analyzing all re

Adjusting Billions of Years Pleases Darwin

Image
It is no secret that Charles Robert Darwin needs his followers to sacrifice science and logic in order to give him huge amounts of time. Otherwise, he cannot perform his evolutionary wonders when there is lack of faith on the part of his votaries. But they come through. When reading sacred writ from the secular science industry, discerning people may notice phrases like "earlier than thought". New discoveries require adjustments, and the false claim that "science is self-correcting" is invoked . In reality, naturalists get tangled in their webs while trying to force-fit data into observations they have made themselves. This requires the hope that folks aren't skilled enough in critical thinking to catch them moving the goalposts, tampering with the evidence, and using dreadful logic. When caught defying real science, they try to evosplain the problems away. Rescuing devices are frantically created for things such as a star that is determined to be "older&qu

Yeast — Rising to the Occasion

Image
Fermented drinks like beer have been used for almost thousands of years, but the function of yeast in its making was not known until recently. The same applies to bread. The biblical word used for yeast is leaven . But what is it? Yeast is a they more than an it . Many bakers know that yeasts are microorganisms and that there are many different kinds. They make the bread dough rise and give it flavors, and are essential for fermented drinks. Bread Dough, Pexels / Vaibhav Jadhav Fermentation may seem like a bad word to people who avoid alcoholic drinks, but it is actually a process that occurs naturally in many places. There are wild yeasts and some have been tamed by savvy wranglers; baker's yeast is a combination of domesticated yeasts. (I'll allow that it sounds unusual to say that single-celled organisms can be domesticated.) Yeast cells act very much like human cells and are useful in studying genetics. Yeast (or at least its products) has been known and loved by human bei

The Protective Atmosphere of Earth

Image
This is something that is easy to take for granted, but one way to appreciate air is when one is not getting any. Living things are designed to breathe without having to think about it, which would make for sleepless nights. Sure, most people know that the atmosphere has oxygen for us to breathe. But the atmosphere is far more than just a bunch of nitrogen, oxygen, and other gasses. Other planets have atmospheres, but they are nothing to write home about. Ours is unique. Earth atmosphere and moon / ISS013-E-54329 / NASA (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) Darwin's quockerwodgers cannot account for the origin of Earth's atmosphere, its six layers , how it is responsive to various conditions in space, its function in shielding us, and more. When reading about it or seeing pictures, wow, that sure is a mighty thick atmosphere — but that is because Earth is big. If everything were reduced proportionally, the atmosphere would be surprisingly thin. It testifies of ho

Lunar Recession and the Young Earth

Image
Whenever the fact that the moon is receding from the earth is presented, one can hear raucous laughter from the Darwin Ranch* as far toward town as Stinking Lake. They bring out Lotta Lyez, the kitchen maid, to recite the rescuing devices. Ridicule is a standard operating procedure for misotheists, because (like dinosaur soft tissues) the implications are devastating for long ages. Papa Darwin needs lots of years his magick to perform. Using calculations of secularists against them, lunar recession is evidence for recent creation. Moon over Grand Canyon, Pexels / Eberhard Grossgasteiger At the current recession rate as an upper limit and calculating backward, the moon would have been  touching  our marble 1.5 billion Darwin years ago. That is not possible, obviously. The standard paradigm for secularists is slow and gradual processes, like we see in geology. From a creationist perspective, the moon has not moved away from Earth all that much. However, the small amount of recession is k

The Defective Dunning-Kruger Effect

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen, edited for clarity 2 November 2021  This material should come in handy — especially the featured article linked below. When defending Darwin, The Mighty Atheist™ online is reflexively confrontational. The content that put a burr under his saddle is not dealt with adequately, however. There are several common tactics that are used in their efforts to dehumanize Christians and creationists. (Do not expect civility from a misotheist, because that indicates you are a person.) Their  ad hominem  attacks involve "Poe's Law", "projection", and the Dunning-Kruger effect. Partially made at ImgFlip , plus a great deal of editing Although many who have Atheism Spectrum Disorder insist that they love science and want extraordinary evidence from creationists (which they promptly ignore), many accept internet parlance when it suits their purposes. We know that ridicule is usually their first course of action. (A newer trick on socialist media is when

The Old "Evolution has been Proven" Trick

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  When Darwin's Flying Monkeys™ try to hornswoggle people by asserting "evolution has been proven", there is a wagon train-load of baggage attached. First,  science does not prove anything   People familiar with its workings should know it, and that science disproves  things. Another problem is that such a sentence uses subtle appeals to authority and popularity. Do you want people to think you are a science denier? Scientists accept the fact of evolution, and so does everyone else . Never mind the manipulation, there are other problems with the claim. One of the main problems is the word evolution . You may have noticed that I often use terms like microbes-to-misotheist evolution , Darwinism, and so on because there are several definitions. Some definitions are vague (such as "change") and worthless without context. Some of the baggage that comes along with the false claim that "evolution has been proven" are from a sneaky falla

The Failure of Cures from Stem Cells

Image
A few years ago, there was a great deal of excitement over the promise of stem cell research. It was touted as a way to treat and cure numerous ailments, and has even been promised by leftist political candidates as promoting science. Of course, "science" cannot advance without murdering babies, according to those sidewinders. Adult stem cells gave hope that research could be conducted morally because it would not involve child sacrifice. Now we hear far less about stem cells nowadays. Stem Cells image credit: USFDA (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) People were ready to slap leather over the promise of stem cell therapies, and Christians are enemies of science that interfered (also see " UK Prime Minister addresses Climate Change, but undermines Christian doctrines "). Their information came from what "scientists say" through the secular science industry (especially the press), but they were just talking through their hats . After all t

Fake Science Weaponized Against Christians

Image
Some of the things pointed out previously can be seen continuing to happen, as secularists use what they call science against Christians and creationists. We have seen that opinions and speculations are often falsely presented as facts. Materialists will assert that their atheistic view is "reality", Darwin's disciples often claim that evolution is  science, global climate change caused by humans is "settled science". Christians, scientists, and creationists are demonized in many ways , including as "science deniers" because we oppose faulty science and logic. Unsplash /  Kelly Sikkema The public has a love/hate relationship with science, not really understanding much about it (often viewing it with suspicion), but using "science" as a weapon when convenient (see " Science in Name Only "). If the spectral monolith of Science (as an entity) is invoked as an authority, "Science says...", then something is assumed to be true

When those Worlds Collide

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  Once again, I had an inspiration from an unlikely source when my mind wandered off all by its lonesome. I have no idea why I was on the rabbit trail, but I was looking up When Worlds Collide . The book by that name was written by Philip Wylie and Edwin Balmer in 1933. Bookstores have it, and used copies can be had. Try your library. A movie based on the book was made in 1951, and that can also be found. Pixabay /  Neypomuk-Studios The genre of science fiction has a dilemma: Keep the science in it, or skip reality to garner more sales. Some manage to balance storytelling with science and speculative science, but willing suspension of disbelief is still necessary. Not as much as comic book superhero stuff, though. Sometimes people want to shut off reason so they can have fun, or mayhaps guys want to look at Scarlett Johannsson. Discourteous Celestial Objects In the book version of When Worlds Collide , two rogue planets are going to make life on Earth a mite diff

Americans Succumbing to Evolutionary Indoctrination

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  A great deal of noise was heard all through Deception Pass, and was even noticed all the way down to Stinking Lake. The hands at the Darwin Ranch were celebrating, and foreman Rusty Swingset even bought both fire water and cheese curls. This was in response to the news that people in the formerly United States embrace evolution. (At least, to some extent.) The question in a survey to which they responded was a mite disingenuous. Efforts at indoctrination were having the desired results. It seems to this child that there would be more of a push to get people educated in science, mathematics, and basic reading skills, since our academic achievements in those areas would satisfy the Greek philosopher Mediocrates . Also, was there a concerted effort to convince people to believe in actual, demonstrable science facts? Not hardly! No, it is more important to get people to believe in fish-to-fool evolution. The primary worldview in the secular science industry is mate

Unsettlingly Following Settled Science

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  It is increasingly common to encounter phrases like, "Follow the science!" Well, first of all, science  is not an entity, so it cannot lead anyone anywhere. Darwin's disciples often claim that evolution has been proven, but science proves nothing . Evolutionists tacitly admit to their pagan mythology by treating  evolution  and Natural Selection  as decision-making entities when it suits their storytelling purpose.  They also jeer at Question Evolution Day with irrational remarks like, "Ya gonna have a Question Gravity Day, too?" Credit: CSIRO /  Frank Filippi  ( CC BY 3.0 ) Another horse apple they polish is, "Why don'tcha write up your evidence for creation and get it published in a legitimate peer-reviewed journal and win a Nobel Prize?" Come on, man! We've been over those things. So often, people claiming to follow the science are simply virtue signaling. Urging others to do the same can many times be an appeal to a

Suppression of Thought Despite Darwin

Image
Science is supposed to be about searching for knowledge, which includes forming ideas and testing them to see if they work. The process should thrive on examination and challenges. Unfortunately, the narrative of atheistic naturalism is more important than knowledge. Many of Darwin's disciples consider evolution a "fact" and "settled science". I am once again asking evolutionists why they need dishonesty, fraud, omission of pertinent data, and outright suppression of contrary views supporting this alleged fact. That is not the true spirit of science. Modified from an image furnished by Why?Outreach Charles Darwin knew that his theory had numerous flaws, but didn't want a bunch of sycophants propping up the thing. He wanted challenges and impartial discussion. Of course, he expected to prevail and make our Creator irrelevant despite the lack of evidence supporting his conjectures. One attempt at putting forward a rational view was shut down as "fake scie

Guilty Conscience over bad Peer Review?

Image
A few days back, Sebastian and Jimbo, the latrine trench diggers at the Darwin Ranch, were in town buying shovels. Although they are unable to grasp the concept, they knew that the rest of the ranch hands were upset about recently retracted peer-reviewed paper. Some jaspers insist that evidence for creation must be presented in "legitimate, peer-reviewed journals", meaning atheistic. It is a form of ad hominem , a genetic fallacy, a blatant falsehood — and a wrong assumption that peer review is a guarantee of truth. Fight for the Water Hole  / Frederic Remington, 1903 There are numerous retracted papers. (Apparently I misunderstood retraction, thinking that something was removed, but that isn't necessarily the case.) There's a reproducibility crisis, some pass peer review even though they are computer-generated nonsense, blatant fraud, and other problems exist. One was even retracted because delicate atheopaths were offended because it used the word "creator"

No Truth, No Science

Image
It may come as a shock to some people, but there are absolutes in the universe. Think about them: moral standards, people can think logically, do math and science, and so on. Because of a risible and self-refuting trend that truth is subjective, Francis Schaeffer coined the term true truth , meaning truth that was absolute. The idea that there is no ultimate or absolute truth fits in quite nicely with Darwinism, atheism, Marxism, and other false salvation philosophies. Atheists do not have a consistent moral standard, preferring their morality to be subjective — again, this is self-refuting . Credit: Pexels /  RF._.studio Science needs the proper environment . This precludes atheistic naturalism as well as pagan and Eastern religious views, which will not let science thrive. A number of biblically-based presuppositions are necessary for science. One of these is objective truth. If you study on it, the subjective or relative truth ideas of postmodernism make science impossible. This fit

Francis Bacon, Science, and the Two Books

Image
The first thing we need to do is get our Bacons sorted out, since there were two notable historical fellows with that name. Both came from England, and each studied natural philosophy  (which is now known as science ). Both of them also studied theology. Roger Bacon was a friar, and I like using bacon  and friar  in the same sentence. He was a pioneer of the scientific method and believed the Bible. We can jump ahead a few hundred years, around the time of King James I, to Francis Bacon. He was brilliant, and like the other Bacon, cooked up advances in what has become known as the scientific method. A part of the fame of Francis is his idea of "two books". Main image credit before Francis Bacon portrait insert: Pexels /  Polina Tankilevitch While Francis believed the Bible, he also considered nature itself to be a book provided by God to teach us things not in the Bible. Apparently, he wanted to keep science and Scripture apart, and secularists have run with this idea and ta

Science In Name Only

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  There are a few acronyms ending in -INO, which means In Name Only. RINOs (Republicans), (CINOs) Christians, and others. SINO will not work here because sino means Chinese (based on the Sinae , the Latin word for China). Mayhaps ScINOs? You can study on that and get back to me if something works, okay? People are suspicious of science at times, then they change horses in midstream and adore it. Especially if they think that scientists are paragons of virtue and impartiality, and will use their brilliance to solve le problème du jour . I disremember when, but one of the responses to a public opinion survey was something like, "Scientists will make a pill for it or something". Blind faith. Modified from an illustration by Sidney Paget used in "The Adventure of the Empty House" A term that has received abundant usage is virtue signaling . It is commonly used for people who are trumpeting their support for political and social causes, but can al
