Peer Review, Star Wars, and — Rogeting?

by Cowboy Bob Sorensen

Okay, so I get peer review. That's the process that seems like a good idea for scientific accuracy, but is saturated with problems. Sure, I know Star Wars, but only the first three that were released. But what's this thing called rogeting?

We had a post at The Question Evolution Project on Fazebook about peer review. Charlie Wolcott and I commented back and forth, and he mentioned that someone pranked the system with a Star Wars-themed paper [1, 2], and the actual paper can be had as a PDF [3]. Some caught the prank, and one reviewer had fun with it [4]. The author used rogeting as well.

A Star Wars-themed paper was submitted to, and passed, secular peer review. It helps illustrate some of the problems in the process and parodied them.

At this point, I need to interrupt because of a development that occurred while this article was in process.

Deciding to have a break, I went to YouTube. It suggests videos, and there was one on Agnes Moorehead, who played the part of Endora on the Bewitched television series. She seemed like a nice lady. The end of the video, however, prompted me to lasso it and bring it into my corral of resources for this very article.

As discussed several times before, some of the problems in the secular science industry include fraud [5], the reproducibility crisis, and retracted papers leading to zombie science [6]. These problems are in addition to the peer review process passing nonsensical papers (as mentioned above). Briefly, many results cannot be reproduced, and bad papers are marked as retracted have been used to support other papers. See how that works? No, of course not. It only confirms biases, either wittingly or unwittingly.

In the video about Agnes Moorehead, the author reluctantly included a section on her sexuality — it was alleged that she was a lesbian. It started from a bawdy joke told by Paul Lynde, but people who wanted to believe it did so. Then they found other circumstantial "evidence" to support their beliefs. None of it was true, however [7]. Like urban legends, rumors, cheap gossip, and zombie science peer review, falsehoods are kept alive that should be thrown into volcanoes.

Let's get back to the main trail.

Take a look at the word "Rogeting". It's based on the name of the famous thesaurus guy from long ago [8]. People will plagiarize by copying material and then change words and phrases (computer software is available) to defeat anti-plagiarism software. Unless the plagiarizing owlhoot checks carefully, some substitutions get...really bizarre. "Left behind" can become "sinister buttocks" (which would have been a great name for a 1970s punk rock band), and other strange things can happen [9].

The Star Wars themed spoof that was accepted by some peer-reviewed journals used rogeting. This and many other factors described here should be kept in mind whenever people proclaim the wonderfulness of peer review. That'll be the day!

If you've a mind to, I ran one of my posts through one of those "free paraphrasing tool" rogeting sites [10]. Hilarity ensues.

THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING DINOSAUR? [11

The other day, I was visiting my prospector friend Stormie Waters. We went out Folly Road toward Deception Pass, and near Stinking Lake we had an uneasy encounter with Russell Watchtower. He was coming toward us from the Darwin Ranch, and heads up their Ministry of Truth.

They are all excited about a study that claims to show how alvarezsaurs, which were not all that large to begin with, managed to shrink, then evolve into birds — anteaters. The reasoning based on a passel of evolutionary assumptions.

Some evolutionists made a story about how alvarezsaurs shrunk and evolved into birds and anteaters. It did not go well. Look at their absurdity.

Some owlhoots wrote a paper on how some alvarezsairs managed to shrink while evolving. It did not go well. Teleology was involved because they supposedly commenced reducing for a purpose. They also bypassed existing evolutionary ideas as well as basic science and logic, including how one of the "latest" alvarezsaurs was quite large. In addition, there is disagreement among evolutionists about classifying them (is it is or is it ain't), so they chose specimens that confirmed their biases.

From a biblical creation science standpoint, there could easily have been different biblical kinds (baramins) of alvarezsairs. Also, Genesis Flood models by creation scientists fit observed data and answer questions, such as why there are massive fossil graveyards of disparate creatures (including both land and sea animals). Just because something was found in a certain location doesn't mean it lived there. Also, alvarezsairs fossils are found all around the world.

A recent news article mentioned the incredible downsizing of one group of carnivorous dinosaurs, the alvarezsaurs. Alvarezsaurs were small, light, and fast theropods, with the largest (Bonapartenykus ultimus) being about 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) long from snout to tail. According to secular paleontologists, there are 21 confirmed species of alvarezsaurs conventionally dated from Late Jurassic, around 160 million years ago, to the end of the Cretaceous, around 66 million years ago. Both body size and weight are believed to have been drastically reduced between 110 million and 85 million years ago. Additionally, alvarezsaurs seemed to rapidly speciate starting at 90 MY ago.

The modified version (I had to insert paragraph breaks):

THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING DINOSAUR?

The other day, I happen visiting my explorer friend Stormie Waters. We become extinguished Folly Road toward Deception Pass, and forthcoming Stinking Lake we had an awkward encounter accompanying Russell Watchtower. He often imposingly toward us from the Darwin Ranch, and supervise their Ministry of Truth.

They happen all excited about a study that claims to explain alvarezsaurs, that exist not all that abundant initially, managed to shy away, at another time develop into birds — anteaters. The interpretation establish a passel of pertaining to evolution or development arrogance.

Some evolutionists fashioned a story about in what way or manner alvarezsaurs become smaller and evolved into flying animal and anteaters. It act not harmonize. Look at their absurdity.

Some owlhoots wrote a paper in contact in what way or manner few alvarezsairs managed to recoil while progress. It did not satisfy. Teleology exist complicated because they seemingly start action lowering for a purpose. They also bypassed existent pertaining to evolution or development ideas in addition to elementary methodical study of part of material world and logic, containing in what way or manner one of the "most recent" alvarezsaurs exist to a certain extent large. In addition, skilled happen disagreement with evolutionists about classifying ruling class (happen it is or happen it ain't), so they pick specimens that rooted their biases.

From a relating to the Bible scientific attempts to prove god's creation standpoint, skilled be able easily bear exist various biblical type (baramins) of alvarezsairs. Also, Genesis Flood models by invention scientists fit noticed information in visible form and answer questions, in the way that why skilled exist massive organic remains of a previous time graveyards of different being (including two together land and large mass animals). Just cause entity happen found in the place of residence or activity doesn't mean it lived there. Also, alvarezsairs organic remains of a previous time happen bring into being all around the globe.

[Next is supposed to be the cited blockquote.]

A current news article noticed the marvellous to decrease in size of one group of eating animal flesh dinosaurs, the alvarezsaurs. Alvarezsaurs exist small, light, and fast theropods, accompanying the best (Bonapartenykus ultimus) essential nature about 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) long from nose to tail. According to not spiritual or religious paleontologists, there happen 21 habitual class of alvarezsaurs conventionally out-of-date from Late Jurassic, about 160 million before, completely of the Cretaceous, circumference 66 million at another time. Both crowd size and pressure exist trust to have happen intensely made lower between 110 heap and 85 heap years ago. Additionally, alvarezsaurs appear to very quickly speciate offset at 90 MY ago.
